Struggling to conceive how there are only three comments considering the powerhouse that is Mr Filiki! Taekwon Sir!

The board holders they use are terrifying. I realize these people are professional and precise, but one slip up and it looks like it would cause a bad injury

does anyone know what is the board they are using? material, resistance etc? I cannot find anything about it.

these are molded plastic boards - they are far less forgiving than wooden boards - the athlete has to hit precisely in the middle along the line. benefits are that you can use them many times - and the competition becomes more fair as they are more consistent than wooden boards. They come in different levels of resistance - typically indicated by color coding.

@@jphamang4400 what is the plastic board like? is it equal to a 1" wood board per say?

@@hbicgrizzly8212 These white boards are much harder to break than one 1" wooden board. Someone somewhere might have studied how much harder but in the end it's comparing apples and oranges. You know, there is great variability in wooden boards, and also plastic boards get easier to break in a long run. So, it is quite difficult to study the real difference.

I was around back int he day, for the introduction of these breaking boards, never liked them. The early versions flew out of the holders and caused injuries, I much preferred pine boards. I also don't like the modern horse/holders because the design means if you miss, (can happen) you're liable to get a bad injury. Using wood, is much more hassle, but much safer and if you use the right stuff, its does a fine job of testing power. That said, nice breaks and for those who don't know martial arts, if you hit a target with all the energy of a breaking technique, and you don't break, a lot of that energy is absorbed by you, instead of going through the target, so strikes that don't break HURT!
