    Where do we get our probe rods?
    Go to the website below, and scroll down. There is a weird probe with a wide tip and the top of the page. IT’S NOT THAT PROBE. The standard starter probe is a 4 foot rod with a small welding bead at the end. This is not a paid promotion.

    Where do we find the maps?
    You can go to the library of congress website and type in “sunburn map” or “plat map” and then the name of the town or city. Most town maps from across the U.S. are not on the site, so there is no guarantee, and they can sometimes be hard to find. You can also try the same keyword search in your state archives website, which will likely produce better results (especially for smaller towns).

    Do you ever come down into Iowa? My hometown is extremely tiny, but founded in 1872 I think? There were a couple fires on main street, one in 1901 and another in 1907. I don't know too many of the major details but my mom said when the fires happened they never rebuilt any of the buildings that were destroyed.
    I bet there are a fair few places to dig around there. There's still a railroad that goes parallel to the highway all the way through town and all the buildings on main street today are the exact same ones in the pictures from when the town was founded way back when.

      It's archeology, he more than likely relishes in the hunt, the trip, the dig, the treasures, thinking about each bottle, and other items, the people that produced the bottles contents, the people that manufactured the bottles, the who and what and where of all of it. How many hands, mouths and otherwise touched these bottles so many years back. The hands that built the bottles, to the end user, to person discarding that bottle for the last time until his hands touch it again.

    Pop's here. Have you considered a solar powered boat bilge pump for the wet digs.

    • @BelowthePlains
      @BelowthePlains  23 дні тому +1

      We have a gas powered one but we never know ahead of time when we are gonna need it. ive dug pits that were completely dry and then dug another like 50 feet away where the water is literally pour in... It works extremely well, but usually only for clearing a lot of water at once, and then the stuff at the bottom, we just bucket out. so they are handy, but usally we try to never let the water get deep enough to have to pump it out. We have been doing this for a long time, and the water is/has been one of the biggest problems we deal with. there's just no easy way to deal with it. If the pump we had wasnt so big, we would just carry it with us everywhere but we have so much equipment jammed into our car. But i do apprecate the tips. i'll have to look into a solar powered one tho, because it sounds like it might be a bit smaller than a gas powered one. appreciate it, and thanks for watching
