Despite the series going even more family-friendly for season 4 there's still the fact that the Juggernaut and its hapless driver get the full homicide treatment and quite brutally when they crash into that fuel truck which must have turned the driver into a crispy critter
I was remember false for sure that the driver from the jug escaped before it exploded in a scene! But as i said i might remember it wrong! 😅
Preservation of all human life ...unless you mess up his molecular bonded shell. Then all bets are off.
*It's a good thing that the camera on the highway following K.I.T.T. also had Super Pursuit Mode.*
I love the "roaring" sound from the juggernaut. Also, when KITT goes to super pursuit mode, you hear a gun shot, 🤣. Then we have the miniature vehicles used again just like in the Dukes of Hazzard, ugh.
I mean this was before CGI (which by itself is expensive when done well) and I imagine they didn't want to risk the stunt cars more than they had to, there's a channel called Knight Rider historians that go into better detail than i can.
And why would you need 'turbo boost' on a jet turbine engine. All for effect!
can't beat those 1980's special effects...come to think of it, that Kitt truck, Goliath would roar too🤣

1. It doesn't total rally cars. 2. MBS is an invention of school-dropout scriptwrites who came after Glen Larson left the show.
Even in the show itself, in episode 1 it's stated that KITT is so tough because he's made from a new type of alloy, (which KITT repeats in Just My Bill episode). The 'molecular bonding' was just misread by someone later on, because in episode 1 it's only stated that 'black finish is bonded on molecular level', which simply means the alloy itself is mixed with black pigment. So according to the first episodes, KITT's durability was because of the material used to make the whole body, not because he had some kind of 'shell'.

@@piotrmalewski8178its literally his molecular bonded shell. It's a formula 3 people knew. In Goliath, they still the formula and is showed spraying it on the semi. It is a clear formula. It's stated numerous times. When Micheal Paints kitt in the acid episode,the paint bonds to the shell formula. Also did u not see this episode where devein is drugged to get the chemical base to neutralized. That is his molecular bonded shell...the liquid is sprayed on the metal, it bonds and when it hardens its the shell...it is.stated its a shell. It's been talked about
Out of all the things I wanted to see KITT do, a turbo boost in Super Pursuit Mode tops the list.

The 2008 knight rider the kitt mustang did turbo boost in attack mode that was the same as super pursuit mode.

This 3rd time was a close call - brand new SPM Kitt was hurtling along the runway at a slow enough speed so that the bad guys could get into the Juggernaut and then reverse it out of the trailer, and then.... .... .... drive it away from Kitt?
It's okay though,Michael wins his 3rd game of chicken against this ram rod.
I really like the SPM scenes filmed for this episode. Most of them do look quite fast - the highway driving scene looks really good - did they alter the frame rate?
Get a load of Kitt's SPM interior while you can (looking past Micheal to see the rear wing is raised) . It's a nice continuity touch, very rare, and probably not repeated in this episode or the remainder of the show.

@@whitewolf3051 Tonya Walker in the pilot episode then later it’s found out on season 2 (A Good Knights Work) that Cameron Zachery blamed Michael for her death
Also the girl from a plush ride, she crashes into the gas truck at the end and explodes before Micheal arrives and greets Devon
@@silverscreenreviews8521 Let me rephrase that. Has villains, other than Garth along with Goliath, been killed by Michael and Kitt in the series? Karr may or may not count, but other than Garth, Goliath, and maybe Karr, did our heroes kill anyone else?
@@whitewolf3051yes some minor characters... Example: 1 guy with a souped up front grill on his car attempted to kill Michael and KITT but instead "zigged when he should have zagged" drove off a cliff and the resultant explosion killed him. I can't recall the rest.
Michael Knight and KITT should have been guest stars in Twisted Metal, like Rob Zombie and his Dragula.
I love Super Pursuit Mode.

Not everyone liked it abd caused the show to cancel nbc and universal tried to reach an agreement money for season five no could agree abd that's why all others knight rider failed.

Love the King Kong roar from Juggernaut. It fits well . I also remember it from the truck crashing over the cliff in Duel .

The jugernaut wasn't anything special,if they didn't disolved kitt's formula with the chemical used,this ovegrown jeep would be shatered its ramrod on kitt like a twig! 😂

i get it's self defense but how does blowing up the bad guy not violate kitt's preservation of human life programming? i mean i get it, it's more or less self defense but still..........
The writers of the show probably didn't think of that... They concentrated on the action, makes for good TV ratings.
Devon explained it also. Preservation of human life, your life....he said Micheal long...but he was protecting Michael's life,, it saw him and the juggernaut as a threat to Micheal and kitt..
Well, it's entirely possible there was enough armor that it didn't kill the guy...just used up the explosive and/or disabled the thing.
They had their hamds full save devon and caught the vilain,they should do something to stop the danger in order to proceed! I do remember though a scene that the driver jumping put of the jug,but i might be mistaken! 😅

The super pursuit mode was a joke.
The stock body of the 3rd gen trans am was wind tunnel tested to 300mph.
So SPM was never needed
Season 3 was the end of good Knight Rider! Season 4 was start of stupid Knight RIder!

1. Super Pursuit Mode - It looks like it would add more drag, slowing the car down. Also, the extra weight of the dozen or so actuators wouldn't help.
2. Turbo Boost - How does a turbo make the car fly?
A burst of air directed at the floor making the car leap.
I hated SPM so won't comment on that 😂

1:19 Some people seem to think cuz KITT and Bonnie both mention the loss of the molecular bonded shell, KITT never gets it back after this episode. Despite him appearing to be indestructible again next episode onwards. And his shell even gets mentioned again in "Knight Flight to Freedom". I think they just meant they didn't have the shell coating or equipment with them to reapply it to KITT when he was being restored as they were in Chicago away from FLAG HQ. Plus Jennifer Knight was making things difficult for them as she'd been attempting to phase out FLAG altogether.

Love that Juggernaut looks like a modified version of the truck used in Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone.
As much as I always disliked SPM, some of those undercranked (sped up) shots actually looked good here instead of the obviously sped up look we often saw
But u cant make dust clouds look normal in speed up mode.

Why does he need to yell “turbo!” And then proceed to press the turbo button?
'Molecular Bonded Shell' sounds ridiculous these days. Any substance is existance has some sort of molecular bonding, and everyone these days knows it. Maybe just except of some 3rd world countries people and Americans.
You can drop that remark about the Americans out of there. We, engineered and built the SR-71 and every single best of the best fighter jet to ever fly, along with the most advanced subs and the single fastest street legal cars....along with Ford having more manufacturer wins than any other make in history. The rest of the world has always been playing catch up....and still is.

I have seen some introduction video clips on UA-cam about the interior of KITT, but none mentioned of this super pursuit mode panel, where is it actually located?
I don't think it was actually specified however in my belief, the area where the SPM and EBS buttons were located on top of the window area where the base of the sun visor normally would be at.
Nowhere. They made it like this because NBC was super cheap and they couldn't be bothered to pay for actual dashboard changes again. Same with the whole show. In Season 1 we had most driving shots exclusively filmed for each scene, full orchestra music with pieces composed specifically and exclusively for many scenes. In Season 4 not only scripts are bad, and music are a few cheap flicks from Don Peake repeated over and over,, but driving scens are so heavily recycled even children noticed it.
The only investment NBC made in Season 4 was was this redneck tuning of KITT.
@@piotrmalewski8178agreed, budgets were a thing and still is to this day despite the fact people still liked the show NBC was going to cancel the show because it was too expensive for them to continue producing it... Also was the reason the 2008 version was also canned. Even the special effects were muted during the 4th season. Still it was a great run.

Devon. And I was about to ask the same question myself. It's been a loooong time since I saw the series, but I'm trying to remember if part of the plot involved a Devon look-alike working with the bad guys...I seem to recall there was an episode with that plot, but I have no clue if it was *this* one.
