Go for it I really enjoy making them its a steep learning curve at first but I'm hopefully getting better at it...hardest part is standing there talking to yourself lol I'll subscribe to your channel
Fished neist a few times. Big conger at night there and skate to large baits. Best cuckoo wrasse and pollock fishing iv ever had. Broke uk cuckoo record every other cast. Did you have issues with tackle snags? When tide ran right to left we lost gear every cast. Camped there 5 days...... Got to go back. Try elgol for cod n ballans if you want best scenery in scotland. Its a snag hole so think there will be congers there. Just never targeted them. I lived on skye last year at isleoransey.
Thanks for the excellent advice Hammy...we waited until the tide subsided on the ebb to cast out our baits for spurdogs it was fine then very little tackle lost but we would have lost loads when it ran right to left still itwas good for Pollack then. Bit tough to target the cuckoo wrasse because of the swell but yes I've been to elgol fishing last year it was fantastic must try more in darkness get a conger next year tight lines Hammy thanks for your comment
Nobody tries lug there, everyone goes for fish baits. Love to fish a dedicated session useing 'anything but fish baits'. Often wondered if theres big cod there..... Al get a look at your other content. See what your up to.... I noticed a st abbs video. Codtastic spot.
Hi Scott thanks for your comment ...I was using a silver minnow 60g lure which is basically a shiny silver metal lure in the shape of a sandeel or small fish...any metal sandeel shape lure will do tbh regardless of colour but i do like silver....i was also using a 4 inch redgill rascal in white attached to a 4 ounce weight on aprox 6ft of mono trace.. the tides on neist point are ferocious at times especially on the ebb which ive found during the last 2 hours to low tide throws up some excellent pollack sport but you do need a heavy weight to get your lure down in the water...enjoy your trip its a fantastic spot in good weather
@@jarrowvikingsinsaneangling9785 cheers mate, very informal! What weight of line were you spinning? Thinking of between 30-50lb myself, what would you recommend? Some excellent fish caught by yourself, looking forward to seeing your next west coast of Scotland haul! Cheers mate, will report back on how we get on, tight lines!
@Scott Matheson 30lb braid should be ideal this will allow you to get a good cast and have enough power if you hit a big one..i have used up to 60lb in the past when the ground is really rough
i was on neist point yesterday (13th may) we had 16 pollack between 2 of us in 4 hours, we had a short session because we went to staffin first but did'nt like it, nothing big this time, best was 4lb and all on jelly worms mounted on a 2/0 aberdeen/1.5 oz lead, 20lb mainline and 25lb fluorocarbon 5ft trace fished with a penn rampage 11ft 6 bass rod, we were very lucky to get a space as it was quite busy but worth the 150 mile (300 mile round trip) journey, but what a fantastic place and really comfy rocks to fish off, legs are sore today though with the climb back up the hill 😂
You not tried roag island not far from dunvegan, love neist point we did an 18 hour stint on there last year was a tremendous experience not for the faith hearted when it comes dark tho lol
We normally do a week every summer bud had double hip replacement over this year so wrote it off we will be back next year tho got a bit unfinished buisness up there with 1 of those big flattys tight lines bud
Hi Gavin its Kinloch campsite at Dunvegan i can recommend it although it is relatively expensive to camp...you have loads of facilities im booked in for end of july 2021 best to book well in advance as its very popular you can have electricity too which is great
