Thank YOU !!!! You made my job of having to replace both headlight bulbs SO MUCH EASIER ! The bulbs refuse to budge and seems impossible to extract while the Lens is attached to car, this video just solved the problem for me , Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I'm waiting for my Euro headlights in the mail and I was going to need to figure this out sooner or later. Definitely seems easier now!
IMO best video on how to remove these headlights. Nice and simple! On a side note, my headlight wipers do not work but I would like them to. Have you dealt with that? Thanks for the great video!
For that you would have to remove the air intake box, it’s an easy job just be careful because it’s really easy to crack the mounting brackets on the valve covers
R129 has three different types of headlamps: For European and international markets: single fixed housing with fixed lens and moveable reflector. The bulb is H4. The lens can be removed from the reflector housing for cleaning. It's often called ECE headlamps. For US and Canadian markets: outer housing that is fixed to the body and inner housing that contains the lens and reflector (glued together as a single unit). The inner housing is moveable within the outer housing. You can identify this by three aim nipples protruding from the lens. The bulb is HB1/9004. Really bad performance as compared to ECE ones. From 1995 onward, Mercedes-Benz offered the new HID headlamp option with projector lens low-beam and reflector high-beam. This headlamp option was standard equipment for SL 600 and optional extra cost for SL 500 and below. This one cannot be easily retrofitted to the pre-1995 R129 due to the length of headlamp housing.
I will post more, there will be videos of mine and my buddy’s since we are modifying ours in 2 completely different ways, And I also don’t think any other UA-camr actually post anything on the SL lol
