Can you offer some help? I noticed you too accidentally pushed the internal self leveling part of the headlight when reinstalling the retaining ring. Do you know how to I guess bring it back into its correct position and not be loose anymore? My headlight beams are vibrating like crazy on the highway
When I was trying to unclip the bracket of the passenger side headlight bulb, I had to push it in to remove it. Unfortunately, the whole housing inside became loose.
hey @90s_benzchild -- thank you for this video! Been super helpful with my R129. I am wondering if I should I follow these same instructions for putting in an LED replacement bulb?
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! The removal procedure will be the same. For installing I’m unsure whether it’s a direct fit or if you need some sort of adapter (for voltage or even to make the bulb fit). People have been discussing this for a bit in some r129 communities on facebook. There are a couple groups with 8k+ members, check them out. Best of luck!
@@koshhh The idea is that LEDs consume less power for the same amount of light produced as a normal filament bulb. The way the car checks if a bulb is out is to check the resistance across each light or check the power consumed from each bulb. (higher resistance means more power consumed). LEDs don't have a high enough resistance compared to a regular bulb, so the car thinks a bulb is out. Those decoders are basically resistors to account for LEDs consuming less power. With the decoder plugged in, the LED looks like a normal bulb to the car. I've never used LEDs before so be careful with my advice. I can't guarantee anything. But that's the gist of it
I have a 97 R129. I was out of town for awhile and drove it tonight and the drivers side lamp is pointing down markedly more than the passenger side. I heard you say “self leveling” headlights. Dose that mean there’s no manual vertical adjustment?
I haven't tried to replace the fog lights on these cars yet. From everything I've read, the fog-light assembly has to come out to change the bulb on the sport package models
Thank you thank you. I was worried about the passenger side. 😀

@@that90sbenz It comes with something called a decoder. apparently it ensures that the warning light doesn't show on dashboard?
