Football sidelines are just way too crowded, and sometimes when a player is coming at you, there is just nowhere to go. I heard about a young woman who was shooting a high school game, who got run over. She hit her head on some concrete, and died a few days later. I decided that it just wasn't worth the risk for me. The only games I cover now are of my nephew who is in high school, and even then I have my head on a swivel.

But it was decided that I should be on the sideline, standing at the line of scrimmage. After one season, I gave it up. I considered it to be too dangerous for a geezer like me.

Maybe because every time it's a injury risk to the players that can effectively cost them hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars just because the sideline personnel couldn't get out of the way. The security personnel in charge of watching the stands have an excuse for not paying attention but the rest of them sure as hell don't. The players are the product, not the sideline people, so it's on the people on the sideline getting out of the fucking way.

My son played football, not professional, and he hit a cheerleader. He stopped to help her and make sure she was ok and he was chewed out by the coach. I'm sure they will go back later to check on them. The people in the sidelines know there will be chances of them getting hit at full speed. These guys can't just put on breaks. These guys aren't heartless they just have a job to do and they know there are people who can give aside to seriously injured people. If it is a player who is injured on the field yes they are going to stop the game because you really can't play around them.
