Such a cutie. Also be careful when combing his hair with knots so forcefully. Try holding the hair at the root before forcing the comb through so it's not pulling at his scalp.
As an Asian mommy to a mixed baby girl , it’s so nice to see this kind of video . My daughter has the same hair texture as your son and I’m trying to learn how to braid her hair too. But she does nottt stay stilll nor like it when I’m doing her hair. She’s only one though I will try these braids next time ! He is so cute my daughter looks like him !
I think you did good in teaching me how to start braiding my son's hair. He has a similar texture & length. I also love how you're being yourself mom. I love the realness in the video. Thank you! 🥰😁
Wow. This is the first video I'm watching for tips on braiding my toddler son's hair and he's Blasian, too! It's almost scary how the internet connects similar people 💻 💞
The way you start braiding his hair up top it's perfect, but midway you want to switch your hands and start braiding underhand if that makes any sense. This way your hans will be closer to his scalp and it creates that tightness that you're looking for at the bottom. Good luck! I think you're doing a great job, it takes practice!:)
Thanks for the tips! I use similar products but mostly leave in conditioner to keep their curls shape in between days of washing/detangling. Also lots of detangling spray and oil. With 2 toddler boys and a newborn baby girl there’s lots of curly hair in this household & I want to learn hairstyles to try for them!
Try a tangle teezer brush instead of the wide tooth comb. It is really gentle, and gets the tangles out quickly. My little guy has hair just like this, and making the switch was a game changer.
You are way better at parting than me! I’m in the same boat as you were. I have a mixed boy and now a newly mixed girl and I can only braid from a ponytail. So I’m watching your video now. Fingers crossed lol.
I have a one year old boy with hair exactly like your son's. I've been looking all over UA-cam for SIMPLE styles and this is the first one I actually like and feel like I'd be able to do..... Now just to keep him still long enough to even think about trying it 😳
Yes! My son would never stay still enough for me so I just did this. Plus I was always running to get ready for daycare. Now that he's older I started to braid his hair. Best wishes to you and your son!
Burpees & Bulgolgi me too, it was not a good look.. but she doesn’t sit still, not even with phone or tv, I know how to braid for the most part, it’s just I’m not good with shorter hair which she has.. I’ll keep practicing
I like that you say you're not perfect in this. I have 2 mixed boys with lots of hair. My older one has afro hair at the front, back and on the side but at the top he has an area which has bigger curls...still try to find the perfect brush and a way to do their hair. You're doing great. Cute little one
I put my squirmy 1 year old in his high chair. It's the only way he won't do a 360 turn while I'm doing his hair. His curls are much tighter and harder to comb through. I also recommend a spray bottle to have a mix water and detangler. I like to use the Cantu Kids Detangling spray.
Someone else suggested it and they didn't have it when I went to the store. I ended up getting the regular gel. But definitely will have to get it. Thank you!
After you braids put a Durag on to make it go down. That’s what our stylist told us, I’m trying to learn how to braid my nephews hair. I’ve had custody for a year and his hair is hard for me since none of my kids are biracial.
I use detangler sprays for my 18 month old who is mixed Black and Anglo. My favorites are Olive Oil for Girls and Cantu kids. It helps moisturizer and relax the curly hair strands
Aww you're son is so cute and his curls are beautiful. Just a helpful tip when combing curly hair out you should hold the hair at the root and always start combing from the bottom up to the root(a detangling/shower brush works best for me); it will save you a lot of time and cause less damage on the hair. Also a rat tail comb makes parting way easier. But good job mom his hair looks great I'm glad to see your putting in an effort for your child's hair 😊
Try putting the rubber bands in castor oil before using! Saw this trick from a girl on UA-cam and it works wonders! Almost glides off the hair whine removing
I've never heard of that brand, Ill have to look into it. I just started a new one and actually love it for my daughter, will have to add the brand later since I can't remember right now
You should get a blow dryer with a comb attachment that ways it’s easier to braid his hair because if it’s curly it will be harder to braid. So u should get that on amazon or a hair store and use it to blow dry is hair straight.
Burpees & Bulgolgi also too get Indian hair dress grease, there are different kinds but the one I use is green. Also get hair and braid condition it’s an orange grease, I got both from amazon.
And when braiding his hair at the bottom try to take lesser sections when ur braiding it when your getting close to the bottom so it can go all the way down
So adorable, but I have the same problem with my some on the parting, I don’t think it’s the way we do it, it’s there head... as much as I try to make it straight it’s uneven... think cuz their hair isn’t use to it 1 and 2 hair still growing in... VS when I do my daughters and she is 9...
You should try to pull your hands down when braiding instead of putting them at the same level of the braid and put something on the floor to distract him to look down
For girls its real pretty hair styles you can do that you don't have to braid at all if any plenty of UA-cam videos on that too .but keep practicing love !!
Cantu is so baddd, trust me if you use monat junior line it literally keeps his curls so perfect and the conditioner softens the hair so you can braid it after drying the hair. Holla if need help with products. I have a 2 year and his hair grew so much and curl pattern stays so natural
it's funny because recently someone said the same thing, I'm going to steer away from this product. My son's hair has changed some as he grows and the Cantu product just seem to be dry no matter how busy product I put in his hair. Thank you for the suggesting, Erik definitely have to try it out
Such a cutie. Also be careful when combing his hair with knots so forcefully. Try holding the hair at the root before forcing the comb through so it's not pulling at his scalp.
thank you, will do
Burpees & Bulgolgi You're welcome sweetie. You're doing a great job.

Awww your baby girl sounds so precious. Don't be discouraged, she'll get better as she grows older. Good luck on your braiding journey
U are golden hope ur child is healthy
Thank you! You stay safe and healthy also!
I think you did good in teaching me how to start braiding my son's hair. He has a similar texture & length. I also love how you're being yourself mom. I love the realness in the video. Thank you! 🥰😁
Thank you so much for your reply! I'm glad this video is helping you. Have a great ⛄🎄
Wow. This is the first video I'm watching for tips on braiding my toddler son's hair and he's Blasian, too! It's almost scary how the internet connects similar people 💻 💞
glad you watched it!

Thank you! I will try that, hopefully Ill be able to get it together
I loved this! My daughter is 2 1/2 and I am just starting to learn how to braid her hair. Thank you so much for sharing momma!
Glad this video helped! Good luck to you with your braiding journey!
Thank you for posting this! 💜 Now I can learn how to do my son’s hair. He’s half black, half chinese.
You're very welcome! Thank you for watching and good luck on your braiding journey
Love it!! My son is black and German and phillipine !!! He has same hair texture omg it’s so hard to braid he will never stay still !!!
Use this time to maybe let him play on a tablet or color or something he really enjoys. Whatever that will keep them busy 🤣🤣
Thanks for the tips! I use similar products but mostly leave in conditioner to keep their curls shape in between days of washing/detangling. Also lots of detangling spray and oil. thanks for watching!
Try a tangle teezer brush instead of the wide tooth comb. It is really gentle, and gets the tangles out quickly. My little guy has hair just like this, and making the switch was a game changer.
Also, try letting him run around a little bit before starting the second braid. The attention span just isn't there when they are so young.
thank you, I never heard of that brush so I will definitely have to get one and try it!
You are way better at parting than me! I’m in the same boat as you were. I have a mixed boy and now a newly mixed girl and I can only braid from a ponytail. So I’m watching your video now. Fingers crossed lol.
It'll click and you'll be doing both their hair in no time. Good luck!
He’s really not moving that much. He’s sitting really well for a kid his age. As a teacher working with kids his age he’s very good.
Thank you, I learned to save his TV time and the things he likes to keep him occupied. 😂
I have a one year old boy with hair exactly like your son's. I've been looking all over UA-cam for SIMPLE styles and this is the first one I actually like and feel like I'd be able to do..... Now just to keep him still long enough to even think about trying it 😳

Wow you did a great job ! My sons hair is very similar thanks for the tips
You did that soooo quick!
He has beautiful vlumous listen and natural shine. I'm half way through the video. Can't wait!!!!
Luster. I'm chatting o my phone( auto correct) tee he
Yeah of course that's what mix babies typically have when you mix black with anything outside of African american.
Your son is so cute!!! I wait for my son to falls a sleep and then I start on his hair.
I tried to braid my son's hair while sleeping but then it turned out crooked lol.
Burpees & Bulgolgi me too, it was not a good look.. but she doesn’t sit still, not even with phone or tv, I know how to braid for the most part, it’s just I’m not good with shorter hair which she has.. I’ll keep practicing
I have a biracial 2 year old girl & this helped me so much!
Oh that's awesome! Glad this helped. Thank you for watching.
Asian + Black Children are so unique looking
What hair products
Do you use? May you recommend a coupled
I only use Cantu products and it works really well on my son who has really thick curly hair just like your son.
yes I do like their product
I like that you say you're not perfect in this. I have 2 mixed boys with lots of hair. My older one has afro hair at the front, back and on the side but at the top he has an area which has bigger curls...still try to find the perfect brush and a way to do their hair. Thank you for your comment. I hope you find a good brush to use on your kiddo. Good luck!
That's smart to put him in the high chair 😆. Thank you for the recommendations.
You need the CURLS - blueberry bliss control paste! So much help 🥰
Someone else suggested it and they didn't have it when I went to the store. I ended up getting the regular gel. But definitely will have to get it. Thank you!
Lmao when he stood up from the chair the look he gave
He defidentally has a strong personality
My son gives me that look all the time 😂
After you braids put a Durag on to make it go down. That’s what our stylist told us, I’m trying to learn how to braid my nephews hair. I’ve had custody for a year and his hair is hard for me since none of my kids are biracial.
My daughter is half Japanese and half black and I swear she could be your child's sibling lol they look so much alike!
That's hilarious! 🤣
I use detangler sprays for my 18 month old who is mixed Black and Anglo. My favorites are Olive Oil for Girls and Cantu kids. It helps moisturizer and relax the curly hair strands
I use Cantu but haven't used that one, I'll have to try it. Thank you!
Try a rat tail comb. It has a pointy end for parting the hair
Aww you're son is so cute and his curls are beautiful. Just a helpful tip when combing curly hair out you should hold the hair at the root and always start combing from the bottom up to the root(a detangling/shower brush works best for me); it will save you a lot of time and cause less damage on the hair. Yes, several people told me what I was doing. Lol. I've been brushing his hair that way. Thank you for the advice!
Try putting the rubber bands in castor oil before using! Saw this trick from a girl on UA-cam and it works wonders! Almost glides off the hair whine removing
That is a great idea!
Beautiful
Thank you!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Hey this helped for my sisters kid helped a lot I hope you and your kid the world
I'm glad this video helped and Thank you. Stay safe!
As I Am brand co wash afyer trying 10 or more different ones. I try braids when my son is sleepy as well.
I've never heard of that brand, Ill have to look into it. I just started a new one and actually love it for my daughter, will have to add the brand later since I can't remember right now
He’s so cute! Thank you, very helpful
Thank you so much, so glad this was helpful!
Omg he’s soooo adorable 🥰 reminds me of my babies! Haha you sound like me when I’m doing my kids hair lol
Thank you! They grow up so fast
Maybe try a popsicle that way he can keep his head down
You should get a blow dryer with a comb attachment that ways it’s easier to braid his hair because if it’s curly it will be harder to braid. So u should get that on amazon or a hair store and use it to blow dry is hair straight.
Definitely a good idea. I forgot about that attachment!

I can definitely see that being a problem! thank you!
You should try to pull your hands down when braiding instead of putting them at the same level of the braid and put something on the floor to distract him to look down
thanks for the advice!
Good job mama 👏😻
😁 thank you
where did you get that sectioning thin black comb?
I got it from wall WalMart
Good job mama! This video was helpful.
Thank you! So glad the video was helpful. to you!
When you comb it hold it at the root with one hand and comb with the other hand.
will do thank you
Oh this is so helpful!! Thank you!!
So glad! Your welcome
Try holding his hair closer to the root comb the ends n work up way to the root. Make a few parts
Thank you
Try curly cuties! I loveeee it on my daughters hair
Where do you get that?
Never get tight at the bottom loose hair
For girls its real pretty hair styles you can do that you don't have to braid at all if any plenty of UA-cam videos on that too .but keep practicing love !!
I will be watching you tube videos for hairstyles to do my daughter's hair
If you want his hair at the bottom to stay and not come lose just get some hot water and let it sit on the hair
He don't have synthetic hair in his hair??? That's a horrible tip
That does not work for his hair my sons hair is the same kind and I'd have to tie the ends. No heat is necessary for his age
That's good real hair, my husband won't let me get his ends trimmed 🙄
영상잘보고있어요~ 제아들도 블라시안이라 헤어케어하기힘들었는데 도움 많이 됐어요^^
I love this video lets stay connected💯
thank you!! 👍
He's mix my son hair the same my son he's Cherokee Indian Native American black
I'm sure his hair is just beautiful!
Cantu is so baddd, trust me if you use monat junior line it literally keeps his curls so perfect and the conditioner softens the hair so you can braid it after drying the hair. Holla if need help with products. I have a 2 year and his hair grew so much and curl pattern stays so natural

In a French braid at the bottom I make my baby look up
I have a hard time doing that 😩. lol
Just For Me is what I use for my daughter's hair. She's mixed too. Her hair almost doesn't look like mixed girl hair at all.
What looks like "mixed hair"?
My son hair very thin hair
i thought comments should be disabled on kid videos- he super cute
Thank you
Poor kid getting impatient lol... Good job on the braids though
thank you! I did get better so now it doesn't take as long 🤣🤣
Me and my mom have coconut oil
Yes!!! I love coconut oil! It is great on my son's scalp.
It's not thick
Use clear rubber brands.
I actually like the black ones.
