@BeckyCreger-vs5ce is yours a weekly or monthly? Ours is a monthly. We also have 5 kids so a 1 or 2 person household will get much less. We got a grant for buying protein recently so I don't know how long that will last.
This is the greatest food bank food haul I have ever seen in my life!! Thanks for sharing! I wish you had been a little more detailed in showing us the items.
It was pretty amazing. We have 4 kids, so I know we get a lot more than a single or a couple. I want to do more videos showing or talking about how I cook some of this stuff. When you get random or new to you things you have to get creative.
I am in Canada. Most are for low income folks. When I used to go you had to show care cards for the members in your family. There wasnt a lot of fresh veggies or fruit back then but we were grateful for anything we received. I have heard that now there is an abundance of fresh fruit and veggies from grocery stores. Some let you pick stuff as you walk by.
Yes! Ours has a grab and go for excess stuff they know they will have a hard time getting rid of in time. Very grateful. We are a family of 6 living on the equivalent of a part time income.
I'm in Canada as well. We've been lucky enough not to need Food Bank assistance very often, but my husband and I had to call them once when we lived in the country. It was the middle of winter, our truck had broken down, we had no money, and I was pregnant. We were down to some stale buns and a partial bag of frozen corn. The Food Bank in the nearest town delivered (!!) us a couple of big boxes of food, including homemade jam and a couple of whole chickens. We live in a different province now, but we still support our local Food Bank regularly.
In California each and every food bank is different. We have some that are just for residents of a specific area where you have a shopping cart and you go in and choose what you want... you get a certain amount of each item from shelf staple items to produce to meat to dairy products, etc. there are some pantries that are available to any California resident, most are like that. Some pantries are drive thru pantries (pre boxed of course) while others you wait in line for. There are once a month pantries, weekly pantries, the 1st, 3rd, and 5th (insert day of the week pantry), and every other week pantries. Pantries have a ton of food and help many. The food is usually really good too.
This is a really amazing haul. The food banks where I live mostly just give away bread, donuts, cakes and pies. Nothing with any nutritional value of any kind. I'm shocked at how great your haul is! 😮
Hey I live in the Portland area and volunteer at a food bank. There are many resources around such as gleaners. Great way to help stretch our grocery budgets.
Really! I have heard about gleaners but never looked into it. The kids are getting big enough that we could pick fruit and things. We picked mushrooms last fall and had a good time just sharing. I will look up how to get into gleaning.
Thank you for these videos I'm in Wisconsin I haven't used the food bank in 14 years I figured the poorest of the poor should get help first salvation army only helps people once a month so if you don't have food the rest of the month you're out of luck the elderly should be first to get help there should be a local food stamp program they match the state with the federal you get $50 a month the state gives you $50 Wisconsin where I live it's once a month for help at the salvation army
That is really common. I tend to go at the end of the month if I need it. I often get a call if they have alot and things will get thrown away. It's a small town and they know me. There can be a lot of waste if people don't use it.
There is a program called Ruby's Pantry in Wisconsin and maybe other states, too. A lot of towns put on the food Pantry once a month, and you can go to another town's monthly Pantry day if you want. The cost is $20 a share, and I think you can buy 2 shares per visit. This looks like a similar setup. Just Google Ruby's Pantry to see if there's one in your area. It's not free, but you get a good amount of food for $20. They're always looking for volunteers!
I really enjoy hearing what folks all over the world have food banks and all the different foods and how to cook it.thats not bragging its sharing good information. Its wonderful,Thank you all for shagging, colorado
Yeah. The kids are having a lot of firsts. They are not used to processed box foods. A lot of things get taken to the school pantry or to church for people who will eat it.
There is a foodbank called Ruby's Pantry that anyone can go to (not income based). It costs $20 per share and you can a lot. This food is near expiration and is donated from businesses that would normally dispose of it into a dumpster. Google Ruby's Pantry to find one in your area.
where i go we get 1 hamper per month and it is not as full as any one of your boxes. but we can get a weekly suppliment we have to have something that has our address on it. show proof of what we have for income/no income. also you can only use one food bank
Wow! What a haul! My food bank is once a month. You have the same appointment time each month. You drive up,they put you food in the trunk, and off u go. Last week they blessed us with a great amount of fish and meat also in Pa.
Nice! That's kinda how ours works. Once a month but you call in and ask you what you want. It's leftover from covid. It used to be a shop for yourself kind a deal.
To everyone that is making nasty comments: I truly hope that you experience this kind of situation at some point in your life, just so that you learn a bit of empathy towards your fellow human.
@Aixopluc_bcn I feel like I need to make a video about what we do and why we are in this situation. 🤔 I know some people abuse the system but do not. I have started this Chanel in the hopes of making enough to support my family. Not planning on being poor forever.
I would love to go back to work. I should make a video about what we do and why we are living like this. In short, we quit our corporate jobs to take on a small country church. We are very active in the community, and I have won the community over 60k in grants over the last 2 years and saved the food bank 50k. I'm not sitting around leaching. I can see the concern tho. I promise, I am not a mooch. 😉
I had never heard that before. At my local food bank I don't think they care either way, especially if you have kids. I will ask what they do for people on food stamps.
This sounds similar to Ruby's Pantry. Anyone can go regardless of income. You pay $20 per share, and most of the food is close to or expired. Businesses donate the food instead of throwing it in the dumpster. Just Google Ruby's Pantry to see if there's one in your area. They're also looking for volunteers.
And it isn't usually enough. If people need food they need food. Your comment inappropriate. They were eating out of boxes on the way home, obviously hungry.
I've gone to 3 local FoodBanks just to see how they work, they wouldn't let me leave without taking some stuff!! I was alliwed to walk around & pick what I wanted, altho soe things were Limited Asked one if them about the Income requirements & was told there wasn't any. I asked if tgat meant someone like B.Gates could go in & take whatever they wanted....I was told "Yes, he coud"!!! That's seriously WRONG on all levels!! People like him should be Donating, not taking!!!
Usually those are church ran not government. Jesus didn’t look in your fridge before he fed ya is what they will say. Very nice beautiful people mostly that volunteer but some will ask and you only answer not prove. They go on your word.
I have volunteered in soup kitchens, food banks and food drives (none were government). These organizations and the people working or volunteering operate on the idea “if you think you need help, we help Period.” If Bill Gates (or you) walk through the door requesting help, they provide help. Many people were ashamed to get help, the idea is to make it easier for people in need to get aid. These organizations do not consider anyone “undeserving” of their assistance. Volunteers are upset by people trying to categorize any of their clients as “undeserving”
i use to think others needed the fb more then i did, but a few friends told me otherwise. i go to the city once a month for a hamper and it is only 1 banana box. it is considered enough to hold you for a few weeks.
At least in Oregon I have found that people with money won't be caught dead in a food bank. To much pride. I know many who are scraping by and won't go. 🤷♀️
I thought that food banks were for desperately poor people...I was wrong....rib eyes....how nice...and no income inquires...another bonus..this is what America has come to...people competing on you tube to see who can get the most free food ........
Lee, I came across your comment and I have to agree with you. I went onto UA-cam and found there were far too many people BOASTING about their "HAUL". The reason for a food bank was for people that felt food insecurity for the WEEK, could go to the food bank and receive food rather than going without a meal. All are run differently as far as going in and "shopping", Trunk deliveries of items you order online, Trunk boxes of random foods given and not chosen and so on. It is NOT supposed to be for people to hoard food or freeze food for later, it is supposed to be for that weeks consumption. It is also NOT for people to go to the food bank and later share their food with others. If those people are in need of food they should be signing up themselves. Food instability is no joke and these people do a performance of the charity given to them online. I see what these people go through when they drive up and the embarrassment they feel. There should be no embarrassment at all, because at times we all need help. But, these people who post their haul and then let us know what they can do with their EXTRA money now that the food bank saved them some is quite disturbing. Several says ago a women showed how she picked up her "HAUL" as well as two of her friends following in their cars. From her description, there was no food instability, they were instead all going that evening to get their nails done with the money they would have spent on groceries ! WHAAAAAAAAAAT !! Food banks are there for a reason and a good reason, it is the people taking advantage of the system and having no self respect that is the problem. Also, it is intended that if there are items that YOU will not use when getting your food, that you return that food to the food bank for further distribution. Food banks do not always have enough food as it is, so it is imperative that people be honest. Corporate greed raises our grocery cost. Individual Human Greed makes others starve.
@lindab7384 I just made a video about our situation. I will leave it at that. If I don't come down to the food bank the ladies there bring me stuff. They know what we do for the community and know our character. Can't answer for anybody else, I know there are takers and abusers. I am not one.
I both need to use a food pantry and I also volunteer. I do not think people are bragging. They are very very very grateful for the help. We are all a community. Sometimes you are in a position to give. Sometimes you need help. I am glad tubers are taking the sting of negative judgements out of getting needed help and being happily and openly grateful. This tuber video clearly states how much she needed the food and how grateful she is. She is not bragging at all. God bless.
I don't think its bragging. They are letting people know food banks are there to help. Seeing it for yourself lifts a lot of shame and doubt about using food banks.
This speaks to the amount of food that may go to waste if not donated to those in need. I do use a food bank in the VERY small town I live in....it provides just the basics....canned goods, dry goods like rice and beans and two lbs of meat every two weeks. And I need it. I'm a senior citizen with an income of $1132 monthly. I qualify for $23 in SNAP benefits monthly...so minimal but I think it's because I have a 6 year old car that actually runs. Anyway....what's my point? Yeah, I wonder why people do this but if it helps folks who really need to know help is out there I guess it's okay.
Wow, a bit of negativity towards people who may have grave financial difficulties. Food pantries are a great thing for people who are struggling with job loss, medical bills, and seniors who are on a fixed income. People don’t brag about being in need, they are passing this information on to those who may not know about the pantries.
NEVER record people without permission, especially at a food bank. You are going to food banks but don't like processed foods?! You do not need that food either. Shame on you. ew.
could you be any more rude. where a person lives does not mean they are doing well. most people, probably you as well are just a pay check or 2 from being homeless or having to downsize, or maybe even the streets
Food banks don’t judge. No one knows the situation better than the person seeking help. It doesn’t matter what clothes they wear, what car they drive, where they live or how much money they earn. Only the individual seeking help knows the situation and knows that they need help. Everyone gets help when THEY feel that they need help. Food banks and the workers/volunteers do not want any of their clients to think they are “undeserving”. There is no shame in seeking help. There is shame in trying to police who is deserving vs undeserving. There is shame in being too proud to seek help and thus letting your children go hungry and worry about their next meal and the bare shelves. Please seek help if you are struggling- or about to be struggling. If you lose your job or are about to lose your job get food bank immediately! You can shift your regular grocery money to pay rent or car or medical bills. This will delay you and your family going homeless. This is why people donate their time and money to these organizations- to help during hard times.
@DarkWaters2009 thank you. I am surprised how many people are mean. I am trying to show hard times are being experienced and hopefully encourage people to seek help. I know a lot of older folks that won't go and live on pennies.
I sure wish that our food bank would give out even half of what you received.
You are so blessed.
@BeckyCreger-vs5ce is yours a weekly or monthly? Ours is a monthly. We also have 5 kids so a 1 or 2 person household will get much less. We got a grant for buying protein recently so I don't know how long that will last.
You are so blessed what wonderful abundant food bank haul !
Haters gotta hate. How sad that they don't have enough of their own business to mind. Or enough sense to be grateful for what they have.
Wow!!What a wonderful,healthy food bank haul.So much protein!You are blessed ❤
This is the greatest food bank food haul I have ever seen in my life!!
Thanks for sharing! I wish you had been a little more detailed in showing us the items.

where i am here in alberta, there are only lots of produce went in season, otherwise, not very much. and most of the pick shelves are bare.
I'm in Canada as well. We've been lucky enough not to need Food Bank assistance very often, but my husband and I had to call them once when we lived in the country. @Fearlesslyobedient yes we offen get a lot of "treats" and baked goods. Not always what I would buy, but we are grateful.
@rachaeloregon38 I totally understand! 😇 I have an issue metabolizing carbs properly. Otherwise it would be great. I miss eating pasta. 💔
Great amount of food. You’re very blessed. Where I live there aren’t any food banks nearby.
Oh no! Are you very rural?
Hey I live in the Portland area and volunteer at a food bank. There are many resources around such as gleaners. Great way to help stretch our grocery budgets.

❤❤❤ amazing food pantry haul and thanks for sharing this with us today and take care and stay safe and warm 💞💞
Nice meat too and an variety of food to!!
You too! Glad to share. I know a lot of people are in need right now and something like this could really help.
Thank you for sharing💝
Wow amazing blessing .

i use to think this, but i was convinced by friends that i really needed the food bank as well.
so i go to a food bank in the city once a month

Again very little heart healthy foods
Yeah. The kids are having a lot of firsts. They are not used to processed box foods. A lot of things get taken to the school pantry or to church for people who will eat it.
There are middle class families that don't eat so well.
For sure! When we were both working and paying off the house we never got Ribeye steak.....it is all on the verge of expiring, but it's Ribeye!
There is a foodbank called Ruby's Pantry that anyone can go to (not income based). It costs $20 per share and you can a lot. This food is near expiration and is donated from businesses that would normally dispose of it into a dumpster. Google Ruby's Pantry to find one in your area.
So go get help. Instead of snide remarking
where i go we get 1 hamper per month and it is not as full as any one of your boxes. but we can get a weekly suppliment
we have to have something that has our address on it. show proof of what we have for income/no income.
also you can only use one food bank
There is nothing wrong for providing food for your family. It's an issue when you are struggling and won't use the resources out there.
Wow! What a haul! My food bank is once a month. You have the same appointment time each month. You drive up,they put you food in the trunk, and off u go. Last week they blessed us with a great amount of fish and meat also in Pa.

@madizzle90 yeah, the judgement is pretty interesting. I feel like I should do a video showing our situation. It's kinda unique.
What state or city do you live in?
@@ConstanceMiller-x8d We are in Oregon.

Is this considered a pantry?
I got it at a food pantry. I wouldn't call it my pantry.
Some so called poor people eat really well
You're young. Why not go to work & buy food....?
I would love to go back to work. I should make a video about what we do and why we are living like this. In short, we quit our corporate jobs to take on a small country church. If you get food stamps please don't go to any food pantry you're already getting assistance
I had never heard that before. At my local food bank I don't think they care either way, especially if you have kids. I will ask what they do for people on food stamps.

Bingo!! Many of us dont get food stamps.
@victoriasprague7014 and more often than not it isn't enough. I know seniors who get 17-18 dollars in food stamps a month, how is that enough?
I've gone to 3 local FoodBanks just to see how they work, they wouldn't let me leave without taking some stuff!! You both need jobs losers
It's mind boggling how many people are making UA-cam videos bragging about what they are getting in food banks.
I both need to use a food pantry and I also volunteer. I do not think people are bragging. They are very very very grateful for the help. We are all a community. Anyway....what's my point? Yeah, I wonder why people do this but if it helps folks who really need to know help is out there I guess it's okay.
At least she's got a food bank to go to sometimes that really puts the food on the table especially for the kids

You look like you have a nice home ,why are you going to food bank , Untitled much .
Well, um we went suddenly from 2 corporate jobs to none a month a part. My husband is a disabled veteran and we are squeaking by........things happen.
could you be any more rude. where a person lives does not mean they are doing well. most people, probably you as well are just a pay check or 2 from being homeless or having to downsize, or maybe even the streets

Thank you to your husband for serving our country.
This country can never repay our debt to soldiers and THEIR FAMILIES.
This channel is not for me.👎👎👎👎
no need to show thumbs down, that is a bit rude.
@DarkWaters2009 thank you. I am surprised how many people are mean. I am trying to show hard times are being experienced and hopefully encourage people to seek help. I know a lot of older folks that won't go and live on pennies.
Wow! I have never seen such nasty comments. WE do not know what this woman HAS been through! And you don't know when your gonna lose a job!
