The sheer beauty of the combined abilities of man and machine at 7:32 sent shivers down my back. Bravo! All of your work is amazing, please don't ever stop creating these beautiful machines--and using them incredibly well, of course.

It's like watching Carl Sagan give a speech on the universe. It's so fucking mesmerizing and amazing to watch him work.
Linus the tools you make are better than any single live product on the market today. You should legitimately sell this stuff. I know a lot of people would be more than happy to purchase it.
Watched the whole thing, enthralling from beginning to end, easily surpasses the other video introducing chiptune playing which got me hooked to your vids. Cheers, mate!
You could easily do something like that with an Arduino and lots of free time. He actually used the Arduino compatable ATmega88 chip for the BitBuf. There's already a chiptune player for the Arduino. I have a patched copy on my Github. github.com/TheNH813/arduino-music-player
Maybe I'm late fot the party, but actually you can buy it under Pocket Operator name. He didn't kickstart it, he made it a product with Teenage Engineering company :)
That song you made there, could you please please please make a full version of it? It is one of the reasons why I keep re-watching this video :) Much respect
i come back to this every now and again to feel sad that i dont have access to this. please. i could build it myself with just a minimal amount of info possibly uploaded on github for everyone's benefit. I see you now work for Teenage engineering. which is wonderful. love my op1. looking forward to the opz. But pocket operators are not the bitbuf. Please TE HALP! Ill comment again in a couple years.... Love your channel is a great resource. i must have a bitbuf. please halp.
I don't know if you're coming up with all these parts off the fly but it's genius and blowing my mind over here. I'm falling in love with your music in these videos haha. :D
This video has inspired me to create something similar for my own use. The only difference is I'm not a brilliant engineer like lft so I'll be using a much more powerful microcontroller. Thank you for the inspiration!
I'm pleased it worked out well. I dont have a musical bone in my body, but I sat here and relaxed in my chair while watching you play. God I love that style of electronic music. Now need to dig out my C64 remixes! Well done buddy :) (ps when you showed the overlay on the screen of the patterns i immediatly thought of protracker for the amiga!)
hello, i liked this video a lot; the first improv track you demonstrated your project with especially made my day. i would really love to see that become a full song! good job.
This is so awesome! The only way I can see the features improving is if you add some harmonizer functions, and maybe a way to have lights to go off with tracks. You did a great job with this, and I wish you the best in all your endeavors. You are the type of person that has the dual effect of making me want to give up music production, but at the same time inspiring me to continue! =P Keep it up!
You should publish the schematics and let the chip community help you add in features for the final release! I personally think a small midi keyboard built into the bitbuf would be awesome!
This is next level. The next level is a way to organize point and counterpoint parts. Possibly with AI choosing the correct note patterns. As it stands, it gets monotonous when the same patterns are added layer by layer. There needs to be bridges and choruses and verses. Not just monotony with lead.
I would like to say "SELL ME ONE!!" but on second thought I know no one out there could use it like you... PS I see the Piano in the background, you should totally do some covers on it, and also more on the bitbuf! (and the chipophone for that matter xD)
It's like looking at the kaospad. Beadyman is a UK beatboxer and he uses a looping machine called kaospad. It seems to have pretty much similar functions
This impressed me so much I came back here to see it again... after 12 years!! :D

I could listen to you play this thing all day!
If this song were a fade out credit song to a game, it would probably be my favorite game of all time.
You, sir, never cease to amaze. Beautiful as always.
This is a video I come back to time and time again because the music made here was so good!
just listening to this makes me smile. Thank you!
Amazing talent, building these machines but also playing them so well!
This is brilliant. It looks like it can be built for $10-15 in a mass production. And I would pay $100 for it.
It's actually on the market as Pocket Operator series already :)
No no no, this is different, it has MIDI input.
And I didn't like the those POs things somehow.
Yunneck Oh I see your point
You, Sir, Are an artist and a genius. Thanks for sharing!
One of the most exciting musical tools I've seen in a long time.
You are amazingly talented to build these from scratch, keep up the great work i love your playing skills.
Linus the tools you make are better than any single live product on the market today. You should legitimately sell this stuff. I know a lot of people would be more than happy to purchase it.
Or even just your engine. Sounds wonderful and I don't know how you're getting so much polyphony out of this thing.
Absolutely great! You are a real retro music genious.
Watched the whole thing, enthralling from beginning to end, easily surpasses the other video introducing chiptune playing which got me hooked to your vids. Cheers, mate!
You've just put most of the proffesional retail synths/sequencers to shame! Well done!
you're a master of your own machine~ brilliant display good sir!
Brilliant! I'd love to get one!
Fantastic! You play just as good as you are smart!
I'd totally buy one of these if I knew I'd be any good at it hahaha. You make it look so easy!
You sir are a god among men. Absolutely brilliant.
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
You need to kickstart this or sell the designs somewhere. I want one of these in my hands.
It looks mint! I would buy 2 of em. He could make loads of cash if he sold these, I would be well on kickstarter with this!
You could easily do something like that with an Arduino and lots of free time.

Yes! I have been waiting for some new updates from you and I can tell you that it was worth the wait! You really surprised me! Thank you!
Linus, this is fantastic! Looking forward to hear you make new tracks on the BitBuf!
That song you made there, could you please please please make a full version of it? It is one of the reasons why I keep re-watching this video :) Much respect
I wouldn't know how to play it, but I love listening at it :)

Now that the OP-Z is out, I'm definitely seeing some of the bitbuf's design in its architecture...
You sir, are a scholar, and a gentleman.
Dude. You don't need to be told you are brilliant, I'm sure you are aware of it but man. Brilliant.
I don't know if you're coming up with all these parts off the fly but it's genius and blowing my mind over here. I'm falling in love with your music in these videos haha. :D
Incredible! Can't find words for this :)
Wow, that was dazzling! Amazing job.
I really want to have one of these! It would be cool to incorporate that into a DJing setup, somehow.
This video has inspired me to create something similar for my own use. The only difference is I'm not a brilliant engineer like lft so I'll be using a much more powerful microcontroller. Thank you for the inspiration!
You are amazing, man. This is simply ingenious.
You are genius !!! Love your music!
Now this is amazing. I'm speechless.
Very impressive device and performance as well.
Really nice new camera you've got! Always appreciate your content! Superb!
A kickstarter for this would definitely be popular. As a composer in Sweden I would love to get one of these for my music.
This is so awesome. I would love to buy one of these.
You sir are an 8-bit God. I bow before your skills in both tech and music. I mean, holly crap! Like a Boss sir. Like a Boss!
I will just repeat what TothvariMilan said: "Incredible! Can't find words for this :)"
Astonishing! I think I want to build one!
This would be a perfect addition to my set. LSDJ is good but this looks like way more fun.
this looks and sounds so amazing!!!
impressive work, seems so usable
wow. that's mint!
love the demoscene sound and vibe.
that is an awesome device. brilliant work my friend!
Always impressive work.
This is 8-bit heaven!
That was awesome, this needs to be made into an actual product :)
Genius! Any chance to release the schematics and code as open source for everyone to use? That would be awesome!
I'm pleased it worked out well. I dont have a musical bone in my body, but I sat here and relaxed in my chair while watching you play. God I love that style of electronic music. You are an astounding human being.

Your tutorial improvisation sounds much better than the most of today's games soundtracks.

So you are the mastermind behind the pocket operators.

This is awesome! Thank you for the video. I wonder if there's any kind of chiptune emulation on a mac. I would love to play 8-bit music.
It's like looking at the kaospad. Beadyman is a UK beatboxer and he uses a looping machine called kaospad. It seems to have pretty much similar functions
super good camera man/woman!
Awesome work as usual :D

Dude i hope that nine years later you work as an chief of engineers for nasa or other spacex.
I think there's money to be made in selling this. I'd certainly buy one!
