In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil narrates some interesting chapters of Ram Jethmalani’s life. Ram Boolchand Jethmalani (14 September 1923 - 8 September 2019) was an Indian lawyer and politician. He served as India's Union minister of law and justice, as chairman of the Indian Bar Council, and as the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association. He was noted in the Indian legal fraternity for his forte in criminal law and high-profile civil cases.

Bad rulers and bad judiciary makes the good laws destroyed by interpreting the laws to suit and benefit either of them based on situations and profits they get. It is seen in recent times the real culprits are freely roaming in the streets and are even in powerful public posts, where as innocents are unnecessarily held for a long time intentionally not posting the case for years.

मैं आपसे सहमत नहीं हूं। ऐसा कह कर आप उन अच्छे वकीलों जो अच्छे इंसान भी होते हैं, उनका नाम कम कर रहे है । एक उदाहरण देता हूं अगर किसी वकील की बेटी का अपहरण करने वाला पकड़ा जाता है और अपहरणकर्ता उसी वकील को कहता है कि मेरा case लड़ो पैसा जितना मांगोगे दूंगा: क्या कहेगा वो वकील, और अगर उस वकील ने वह case ले लिया तो आप उसे क्या यही कहेंगे जो अभी आप कह रहे हैं। माफ कीजिएगा पर आप कह नहीं पायेंगे। पैसा बहुत कुछ होता है पर सब कुछ नहीं होता। समाज के ऐसे लोग जिन्होंने पैसा कमाने का सर्व मान्य सिद्धान्त नहीं माना हो कृपया उन्हें glorify करने के किसी भी प्रयास को बढ़ावा नहीं देना चाहिए। वैसे मैं भी स्वर्गीय जेठमलानी की का बड़ा फैन हूं उनकी किसी भी तरह बुराई करने का समर्थन नहीं करता। A super duper intelligent to whom I relate myself in my life.

अगर ऐसा नहीं हुआ,तो हम में और नाज़ी जर्मनी या सोवियत संघ के बीच कोई फ़र्क नहीं रहेगी। जर्मनी में जज रोलैंड फ्रेजर या सोवियत रूस के मॉस्को शो ट्रायल्स के बारे में एकबार नज़र दीजिए।

आपको मालूम होना चाहिए सर कि जेठमलानी जी मोदी सरकार से पहले ही दस साल से Black Money के खिलाफ उच्चतम न्यायालय में याचिका दाखिल कर खुद पक्षकार बने और लम्बी लड़ाई लड़ी। उन्हीं के प्रयास की वजह से Supreme Court ने SIT का गठन किया काले धन के खिलाफ।
