Collider is wrong. Blade was the first R-rated Marvel movie.
We were also wondering if Deadpool technically falls into that category bc while was by Fox (before merger), Deadpool is still a Marvel character.
Actually Blade is not the first Marvel Rated R, that is The Punisher 1989

@@TheMovieCouple Deadpool still counts as a Marvel movie. So, far the first two movies aren't technically MCU movies. But with Deadpool 3 under the MCU banner, it brings over the first movies into continuity. I'm guessing.......
Kraven is a Sony movie in association with Marvel, we won't be seeing any of these characters in the MCU, We just had this guy as Quicksilver.
Blade was New Line Cinema. Deadpool, Fantastic 4 and X-men are Fox movies. All those movies with Marvel characters were made because they sold film rights to keep afloat.
The First actual Marvel/mcu movie was Iron Man.
Rhino isn’t the only Spider-Man villain in this, Kraven’s brother is Chameleon.

In the comics, Kraven got his powers from a serum. In this, he bonds with getting a lions blood in his system. Essentially, in comics, the serum gave him super strength that were little less than someone like Cap. His powers were animal like.
I think Russell Crowe would’ve made a great Kraven the Hunter himself years ago if Sony had used this villain for the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies.
Based on who is playing *Kraven,* I can tell this is going to be a *kickass* movie.

Yeah, and I guess it shows that Sony understands the change in age demographics and hey, if this movie can succeed in raking in more than $400,000,000 at the box office, I hope this will encourage Sony and Kevin Feige to keep maintaining the status quo from No Way Home and while having Peter don the Venom Suit, they make sure he kicks tons of ass and hits them hard real good. Get more serious and it should help draw more Marvel fans back into the game. They'll need Hobgoblin (Rodrick Kingsley) and Mister Negative to be the villains for Spider-Man 4 and maybe the 5th movie if they're looking to break the next one up into two movies.

In the comics, he enhances his physical abilities by drinking special herbs and potions, he discovered in the jungle belong to native tribes. He was a big game, hunter in the comics that decided to switch from animals to humans for a greater challenge. He was brought to America by the chameleon, also his half brother, to take out Spider-Man, and of course, because he failed, he became obsessed with the web ahead. Please read "Craven's last hunt" for the culmination of his obsession; it's one of the darkest Spider-Man story out there. I think because of the size of that lion they are going to say that it was special and rare.
In the comics Kraven does have animal like superhuman abilities. But he got them by consuming mystical herbs from a voodoo presties.
He gets these potions from Calypso. We can even see her in the trailer.
The way he highlights big R-rated fights. They are the best and Aron as Kraven looks spectacular

Calypso can be seen in the trailer as well. For those who doesn't know she's the one who gives him potions that gives Kraven super-human abilites so he can fight Spider-Man. He's much above than Captain America's strenght. And in the comics as well he's still contorling animals. So im assuming that Calypso will be the one who finds him during the lion attack and maybe helps him and gives him something. I refuse to believe he gets his powers from a radioactive lion xD But we'll see in the movie of course. For me the trailer looks good, the movie looks that it might be good as well. R-rated im all in for it.
Not surprised that kraven is r- rated if you read "Kraven's last hunt" it tackles issues like suicide, murder,stalking, mental health, obsession and torture. Thosr books were dark and established kraven as a terrifying villain for spiderman. And I'm pretty sure that woman is Calypso who is a voodoo priestess in the books . I think she or Kraven's mom cast a voodoo spell on him that activated when that lion attacked him and I'm pretty sure he doesn't get his powers by a drop of blood for the lion. In the books they used a resurrection spell to bring him back and linked his spirit to Spiderman's life force and the only way he can have peace is to kill spiderman.
If only they could do that story. Man!

Kraven The Hunter Looks Spectacular
They show the tarot card when he gets his powers that hints that Calypso is involved.
I posted this on another video regarding the trailer.
It seems that they got inspiration from the The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon when it comes to infusing Kraven's DNA with that of a Lion's (they went all-in in the cartoon when compared to this though). I know this is a different adaption and medium, but Kraven was one of the best parts of The Spectacular Spider-Man, which itself is often regarded as one of the best incarnations of the Spider-Man character & universe across all mediums.
Blade was Rated R.

My theory is I think he injected himself with serum like in the comics before he got bit by the lion, so it mixed with all of it.
Kraving was so awesome when I was a kid and he was just a beast we could track anything anywhere and hunt them down and calypso who was what he called his woman any missile launc

The Movie might prove me wrong, but, i feel like this is how ifs gonna go,
Kraven grows up to knowing his mom has passed. And at the same time has a father to grow up to and to hunt with. Him, his brother, and his father go hunting, not knowing that a lion had attacked him. Blood of the lion crawls through inside him, after his father and brother left him.
After waking up he realizes that he has these powers,
through out the movie he has live in the city with these types of powers. After a while people try to track him down to lock him up, but after realizing that his father left him to die, he wants to chase after him to kill/hunt him on his own.
On his journey he meets people who might know where his father is at. Until he stumbles upon a guy who is known to be the Rhino, as for the rhino is working with his brother “The Chameleon” to go against him, knowing that he has these powers of a lion.
During battle Kraven, the Rhino, and Chameleon, As Chameleon reveals to Kraven who he was. In the sky the purple cracks appear. And all 3 of the Villains get stuck into cracks. As for the events of NWH. As Kraven is in the purple cracks. He looks around everywhere, and that is when we actually get to see live-action villains on the big screen, where is we see “The Black Cat” played by (Anya Taylor Joy) we see many others like TASM Rhino, Venom, Sam Raimi Mysterio, Lizard, Kingpin, Vulture, Tombstone, Prowler, Mister Negative, Morbius, Hammerhead, The Scorpion, The Spot, Kaine, We see other live-action spider-man variants. And its a whole 5 minutes of Kraven inside of the purple reality cracks, until strange closes it, and sends everyone back.
To keep in mind that the villains showed will be live-action and will be a lot of easter eggs and villians spotted.
but in the end Kraven and the villians forget who peter parker/ Spiderman is, and forget abt what happend, so as they continue to battle,
his brother the chameleon, ends up dying, his father is killed by his bare hands, and he returns to the forest to hide from the city, ending off the movie with that.
Honestly im hoping the movie is good kraven is a really interesting character. Bit of backstory he is of russian nobility born sergei kravinoff, his half brother is dimitri smyerdakov aka the chameleon they dont necesarily get along, he has been married to his wife alexandra sasha kravinof and has 3 know children(vladimir the grim hunter, aleksei born of a mutant mother and anya kravinova) and calypso his lover. His powers came from a mystic potion that grants him superhuman abilities. When it comes to hunting he prefers very traditional or ancient hunting and tracking techniques and hunts his prey with his bare hands by choice view the glory of the hunts as an honor. As mentioned in the comments his biggest story is kravens last hunt its a really dark story top ten spiderman stories of all time. He later ends up resurected and can only die by the hands of the spider very much evoking the animal totems introduced with the web of life, the inheritors etc. In spiderman the animated series of the 90s he aids his lover dr mariah to track peter during his man spider phase aka the neogenic nightmare where the punisher was also introduced later seen during the harry's turn as the goblin. He was voiced by worf himself in the m tv spiderman series and in spectacular gained superhuman abilities of predatory cats via miles warren the jackal; currently he is going to be the main villian for marvels spiderman 2 game.

The action looks great. Aaron Taylor-Johnson does look incredible especially in that movie poster Sony released. I wish Kraven was a villain for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. I’m still not sure if this movie will be good because I have been a fan of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe with the Venom movies and Morbius. Maybe Kraven will be first movie I like from this universe. J.C. Chandor is a good director.

Aaron Taylor Johnson looks really good here as the well known character from the Spider-Man comics. I do hope that he will cross paths with Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker because I could see them clashing with each other.
Plus, he'd be strong enough to actually fight him too in my opinion TBH
100% this. I dont think it will be Tom Holland's Spiderman but Andrew Garfield's considering his dark past after Gwens Death. They could just say that he got into the wrong universe after the last Spiderman movie.

Why does it feel like they’re making him an anti-hero. He’s straight up villain. Looks like they’re going the Venom/Morbius route making them bad guy/good guy. Which I think is a bad sign.
Venom has been an anti-hero in the comics ('Venom: Lethal Protector' was literally the name of his solo comic where he tried to prove he was a better hero than Spider-Man because he killed criminals). Morbius has also had his moments where he tried to control his hunger and only kill villains. Both of those have precedent as 'dark heroes'. However, as far as I know, Kraven has always been a psycho who hunted super-humans like animals because they were "the most dangerous prey". The only 'dark hero' version I am aware of, in the comics, is the recent one from 'End Of Spiderverse' where Kraven is the Spider-Man of his universe and hunts villains as trophies.
@@andrewrawlings5220 venom became an antihero through tons of character development and even a change in host. Morbius not being blood thirsty isn't the same as being an antihero. Villains can change but you can't just start it that way.

Who's gonna be the next Spider-Man's enemies or alliances after Kraven?
An R rating is going to limit some of the demographic for this movie which will impact their financial return and these scenes are brutal. It would be interesting if the lion Kraven was a totem or animal god rather a normal lion and that is how he gets his abilities though that could run counter to the comics, it would set a good lead into brining the Inheritors into the story.

Clealry not a villain anymore everyone has to be an antihero ugh. Like why can't we just have a a bad guy ? Like now he's all animal rights activists? His whole thing was he killed every huntable animal including people , now it's he fights for the animals against poachers. So any conflict with spiderman with either be a he's being forced , or it's a misunderstanding leading to them working together to fight he real bad guy.

Sony has changed the character and made him a mutate, in the books he’s a human with incredible skills but they aren’t super human but he gets help from Calypso, who gives him potions. The blonde kid is his half brother and in the books he’s the Chameleon, a master of disguise.
He's always been superhuman even from his debut in the comics. The exception was in Ultimate Marvel, where he was Australian for some reason and was a normal human, sort of like the Crocodile Hunter, very gifted, but not superhuman. And it didn't take them long to turn him into an actual lion-man with some sort of serum... In every other universe I know of, he's had superhuman ability.
i dont even get much a sense of Kraven's personality and traits from this trailer.... the upcoming Spiderman 2 game on the other hand though

eh,... the movie/story seems to have potential, BUT, This lead actor seems kind of,.. LIGHTWEIGHT! I don't really feel the actor too much and would've cast a different way.

Ironman was a B level character in the comics, but the MCU made him look like a A level character. Which he not and will never be, no matter how much the marvel bandwagon fans try and convince real fans. Most MCU fans can’t tell which issue Ironman debuted in the comics 🤷♂️

Yeah, I'm disappointed with how they are presenting it. Kraven is my favorite Spidey villains. But they are nerfing him to an Anti-Hero who saves the animals and got a drop of lion blood in the right spot to gain powers. The goes out an hunts criminals. So, basically he's "The Punisher" with an animal based theme.
This looks outrageously violent. Not buying this. Too bad.
