It's and old motor worth it every time. Could be something simple. Back early 90's when they made good motors and vehicles. You always figure it out. 👍👍👍
I thought oh no. Maybe you took the box apart with the battery connected and voltage somehow hit the yellow/black wire. The heat and humidity always ratchets up the aggravation a few notches! Great outcome.
hey to get the backlash out, simple put the control in forward detent then back again just out of neutral (still in forward) so when you click the control to neutral, the idle stop screw is firmly against the block. really only way to do these. cheers man.
What year of motor is that? I have a 1996 Evinrude 60 horsepower on a pontoon Needs some wiring replaced from the ignition switch and has no spark. Always nice to watch your channel.
If you have a chance, pick up a set of left hand drill bits for taking out stripped heads. A lot of times the bit will grab and bring the screw out. Stay after it!
Have you ever run into stripped screws on a Minn kota trolling motor on the foot??? How did you remedy it if you have. It’s not turning but the motor works. The foot control seems fine. I need help!!
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 your fun to watch and I love the way you laugh at life's problems.i wish I could do that.instead I get pissed and start cussing.get you a green pumpkin sinko and go bass fishing 🎣.
@@danielscrapper8207 Well it's not that hard depending on the overall condition. Every crack- crevasse - hole- passageway needs to be surgically clean. Might be a good idea to soak them in some chem clean first. Go to mareengine.com, look up your model and this will give a price on the rebuild kits you'll need. Thanks and Good luck!
U got to love when u almost got something apart then that one damn thing won't come apart. And u have to do a bunch of shit to get it off. Not to mention it's hot as balls outside. 😂😂😂. I feel ur pain brother. Love ur content by the way. And much love to ya from Maryland❤❤❤.
Guess not. Hahahaaa. Seafoam, from what I remember, was/is used more for "decarbonizing" an outboard with the procedure you mentioned. I guess it would also help clean the carbs but not a known practice with the 1 can/ 1 gal mixed oil/fuel that I've ever heard of. I did the "decarbonizing" once, about 100 years ago. Long drawn out process. Never knew if it decarbonized the motor or not. Carbs are a different animal, it's a whole different process, if it was as easy as running a can of seafoam through the fuel system we would all have it made, and my carb cleaning video wouldn't be at 263,619 views. I guess I should thank the seafoam people for that. Don't get me wrong, Seafoam has some great products, and they're always adding more! Most recommended / Use/soak in the chem dip carb clean, or get a ultrasonic parts cleaner or just dig right in and get er done! Not a big deal!
Now, don't be too hard on yourself. You didn't check the grounds in the first place because you connected those yourself earlier so you assured they were good. Well I know, as the wise man says: never assume anything but that super hot temperature sure clouds up one's mental process. You are due for a cold gear !
Holy shit!!! Shat myself laughing when you refixed that loose connection!!!!! That's outboard life for you!!
Hey. Thanks for tuning in.
I've been in Florida my entire life. I swear the older I get, this damn heat wears my ass out. Always appreciate your videos!

I figured it had to be in the remote control since it was running before you took it apart. Never assume anything 😂

What should it cost to have a shop clean carbs and kits on a 1979 mercury thunderbolt 80hp ? I haven't done it in yrs
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. I don't have a clue- I do all my own work. Last I heard it was too much!
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 how hard is it ? I have mechanical experience. Thanks for the quick response love the videos !

Ah man…….over 5 hours…….day is shot mucking around in the heat. Then comes the rain to spoil the little joy that could be had in the aftermath.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Oh well....
My Dad always told me start at the source.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Good advice !
So it maybe a dumb question but when I go to but the lower unit back together how do I know if it's in neutral for sure?? 1989 force 85hp
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Just spin the prop!
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 so if it spins freely it's in neutral? Correct?
@@danielscrapper8207 Correct!
@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Thank you so much for your help I greatly appreciate it! God bless

Anyone do the seafoam shock to clean gummed up carbs? I heard 1 can of seafoam to a gal of gas will clean them right up. Any truth to that???
