  • Doing something a little different today. Instead of a strange or seemingly gross recipe, I decided to try my hand at an easy ramen recipe I came across while making a meal plan for the week.
    I hope you enjoy! :)
Music used is from Bushido Blade 2.

Shoyu isn't a problem whatsoever. Really hard to f it up. If you want something really special, go for tonkotsu ramen. Incredible stuff, but takes quite a bit more effort to pull off. Not hard in particular, just very time intensive. Can recommend the channel "Way of Ramen" for very good explanations and being mostly in the original style

I've made ramen many times and really I can't say there is anything you did that was outright wrong. Ramen itself doesn't have any rules, just some key components, 5 to me exact. You've got your tare which is the soy sauce base you made. The aromu oil which in your case was the sesame oil you used. The broth, a fat, noodles and toppings.
I'd suggest trying chicken ramen again, but really focus on your broth. I'm talking chicken feet, backs and thighs, get it really hearty. You can take a few thighs our early and use those for your protein. Beyond that the noodles you used are perfectly fine. Hell, most must go ramen places in Japan use dried noodles. Oh, and I'd suggest actually marinating your eggs.

    .
But seriously, good first attempt, the best way to usually cook beef in the ramen is to put the beef in first, then the hot broth. But I know you threw in the beef as an additional component, and it's fresh beef, so you're not gonna do yourself in. Hopefully, you don't catch the ire of Uncle Roger on this one since there was no MSG

Really well done dude. Next time just go a little lighter on the eggs. For future reference, you can get tamari at any grocery store in exchange for that “special Japanese” soy sauce and it’s the same idea. Probly better than the product you got for this application.

You did great. Ramen is hard to make. The broth should consist of aromatics and oil. You boiled the eggs too long. Soft boiled eggs are cooked, but the yolk is supposed to be runny. Kinda like a sunny side up egg. Other than that you did great

Looking good. Though I think the egg yolks are supposed to be still gooey (yours were closer to hard boiled) in which case you shouldn't add the eggs to the water until it is already boiling and then not take it off the heat until you think the eggs are done at which point you drop them into the ice water.

If you're looking for a kind of cursed recipe to do next that isn't a Jack or Kay one, there's a VTuber named Millie Parfait who made a corned beef spaghetti. I stress "kind of" because it looks fine and appeared cooked fine and she claimed that it tasted alright, it's just the aspect of the protein for the bolognaise sauce being corned beef, spam, and hot dogs.
