thank you for the information the charcuterie defo helped with the dropp rates we got one player to 27 kept killing the same 15(growlers) + 10-15 (wolves) in a cave and noticed a massive deffence just by letting the main charcuterie Player to do all the looting. we also got the occassional teir 2 hide from the wolves after level 27 (from wolves)

We have farmed several hundred large hides as a group. People with no Charcuterie skill to level 34 Charcuterie. The drop rate has run from 20 percent to 50 percent, averaging 30 percent overall, with NO perceptible effect from Charcuterie skill. I would suggest that you gather a MUCH larger sample size.

So this doesn't work. Something's gotta give with the tier 2 hides though. Once you get past generic leather, the grind becomes such an insufferably punishing slog it's going to drive off players. Most people don't have 10+ hours per day to put into a freaking video game and that's what it takes to get anywhere with tier 2 leather...

  • @skarfang8257

My friends charcuterie is close to 30 whilst mine is only 5 and yet i get way more drops than he does. So personally I don't think its tied to the skill line (used to be the case in alpha tho but not anymore).

  • @Fflam

the Community Devs have an official response in the Pax Dei discord.
"Hello, Charcuterie doesn't affect the T2 hide drop rate. If it does, it's a bug. if anyone has proof of that, they should send a bug report using F8 in-game"
so Charcuterie does NOT affect this in any way.

This isn't outlandish at all. Ultima Online had hidden cross skill bonuses as well. These will give value to players in exchange for working on the skills they might not normally pursue, especially if they just want a combat centric play style.

It used to be linked to leatherworking in the alpha tests but this was removed, we have been testing the t2 drops now I dont think its linked to the charcuterie skill but more that they adjusted the drops on bears etc and today I am now getting T2 large hides (orange) I killed 27 bears in the last hour, and it dropped 12 t2 large hides. I think the increase is unrelated. I have 0 charcuterie.

I think it's just RNG. My mining is capped at 41 and I saw zero difference in what I got from nodes. Having to have a charcuterie level of almost 30 to get animal hide is kind of ridiculous. I could go through the wolf cave and clear it twice and get 2 or 3 stacks of animal hide. It's just the poor loot table on the mobs that the devs need to adjust.

  • @Kryto
    @Kryto 3 місяці тому

This is interesting, and could be a very cool addition to the game as "feedback". But currently this lack testing and comments from devs. Keep up the work, but be a little carefull posting stuff as proof and clickbait. Unless you are fine with backlash if this turns out to just be a base increase in drop rates.
Pax dei is a slow game, so people are likely going to spend hours grinding something that could turn out to be worthless. That anger could fall back at you, even though people should judge content for themselves.

    • @Kryto
      @Kryto 3 місяці тому

A little extra context. I have seen things get added or changed without being listed in the patch notes. So they can easily stealth update drop rates in the middle of testing. (And its hard to revert levels, other than testing on alts) So im not trying to blame you here ^^

Lesson learned -- don't get rid of anything. Hmmm then there are the trips where you are out collecting a needed resource but ohhhh looky there I just have to grab some of that, then inventory is full and you didn't collect near enough of what you purposely went out to collect. I just love this game!

To determine whether the difference in drop rates you observed is statistically significant or just due to luck, we can perform a hypothesis test. Given your data, a chi-square test for independence would be appropriate. This test will help us understand if there's a significant association between the charcutier skill level and the drop rates of tier 2 hide.
Here's a summary of your data:
    - **Charcutier Level 1:**
    - Bears killed: 199
    - Tier 2 hide drops: 58
    - **Charcutier Level 28:**
    - Bears killed: 128
    - Tier 2 hide drops: 60
First, let's calculate the drop rates for each level:
    - Drop rate at Level 1: \( \frac{58}{199} \)
    - Drop rate at Level 28: \( \frac{60}{128} \)
Next, we'll set up our contingency table and perform the chi-square test. Let's do these calculations.
    ### Calculations
    1. **Observed Frequencies:**
    - Charcutier Level 1: 58 hides, 141 no hides (199 - 58)
    - Charcutier Level 28: 60 hides, 68 no hides (128 - 60)
    2. **Contingency Table:**
    | | Hides | No Hides | Total |
    |---------------------|-------|----------|-------|
    | Charcutier Level 1 | 58 | 141 | 199 |
    | Charcutier Level 28 | 60 | 68 | 128 |
    | **Total** | 118 | 209 | 327 |
    3. **Expected Frequencies:**
The expected frequency for each cell in the contingency table is calculated as:
    \[ E = \frac{(row \ total \times column \ total)}{grand \ total} \]
    4. **Chi-Square Test:**
    \[ \chi^2 = \sum \frac{(O - E)^2}{E} \]
Where \( O \) is the observed frequency and \( E \) is the expected frequency.
    Let's perform these calculations.
The chi-square test results are as follows:
    - **Chi-square statistic (\( \chi^2 \))**: 9.86
    - **P-value**: 0.00169
    - **Degrees of freedom (dof)**: 1
    - **Expected frequencies**:
    - Charcutier Level 1: 71.81 hides, 127.19 no hides
    - Charcutier Level 28: 46.19 hides, 81.81 no hides
    ### Interpretation
The p-value of 0.00169 is much lower than the common significance level of 0.05. This indicates that there is a statistically significant difference in the drop rates of tier 2 hide between Charcutier Level 1 and Charcutier Level 28. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that the observed difference is due to chance.
Based on this analysis, it seems that the charcutier skill level does affect the drop rates of tier 2 hide.

This doesn't take into consideration the new changes to the drop rates after mobs with 0 drops were fixed

    • @Allisteras

@@britishsandboxer this was done on black bears not brown bears. Only brown bears were updated according to the patch notes. Sure, they could have updated the drop rates across the board, but I don’t know when Demone did these drop rate tests. I’m just adding up the data and doing the math.
If you want to know the percent chance that these numbers are incorrect, it is 0.169%. Just plug solve for p.
