He summed it up for me when he said he can't listen to Jeff because it's too painful. I dated a girl in the late 90s and she had never heard of Jeff Buckley. she would always make me play and sing his songs on the guitar and she couldn't understand why I couldn't get through without getting choked up, because they summarized our relationship so much and the pain must have been feeling when he wrote them. Now 20 years later we are still very dear friends she still asks me to play those songs when I see her and I tell her I just can't play them anymore.
Edit: by the time this video was over and I wrote my post, I was sobbing

Aaron Harris hey been crying too... i knew him before he got famous in LA he asked me out I said no.. then later after he got popular I didn’t recognize him.. he starting chatting to me when a bar was closing and he was so shy and his friends kept insisting I talk to him it was band members in Orange County and I left.. his band mates got my number for him.. we talked but ... I ended it because was awkward.. I hadn’t heard his music yet .. long story why.. but putting all these prices together I feel so bad for not being open. I was in my head w my own stuff.. deep thinker semi loner and sang.. a lot more then I’m saying conversation wise.. pm me if you want.. regrets and odd synchronizaties

I was there. I went with my brother. He wasn't the slightest bit interested in watching Jeff. The pyramid stage has a kind of natural bowl. You can walk down the slope towards the stage. I was at the top of the hill trying to convince my brother that we should see this guy. I'd heard "Grace" for the first time a few weeks before. The odd thing was I knew my brothers taste in music and he wouldn't of like Jeff Buckley at that time. He was a metal head that had just discovered dance music.. so the story is I stalled him for as long as I could. I can still feel the sun beating down, 100,000 people swarming around and that voice cutting through like the voice of a god, like an actual airborne shockwave of utter beauty. That for many reasons was the best year of my life. 20 years old and discovering the vastness of possibilities. One of those possibilities being a person can sing so well their voice can change how you look at the world.

What's unique about Jeff is most artists who die young get their fame post mortem, but with Jeff that's not what generated the fame, even today I feel he's on the rise in the younger audiences. The story is heartbreaking, intriguing and generates a mystique, but like myself I started listening after finding Grace the title track. I had no clue about his story or anything there was just the music and the talent. Jeff managed in his short time to make music that was each in their own rights magnum opus, irreplaceable, and not to be recreated ever again.

His manager being the financial beneficiary and not Jeff’s family, that’s strange don’t you think. Why does Jeff’s mom not like him and been at odds with him since Jeff’s death? And what about his connections with Courtney Love, another handler who also became the beneficiary of a star’s tragic death. It was easier in the 90s to control the narrative and paint a lucrative picture of the tragic fallen star to gullible fans in order to keep squeezing money out of their corpses and glorious memories, but not any more, consciousnesses are waking up and the truth has to come out, it’s just a matter of time…and that laugh and look in his eyes was not awkward, it was wicked.

No, he's probs working with Mary to milk Jeff for every damn penny until everyone stops checking the new releases, THEN maybe they'll finally release it (if it even exists, I'm doubtful personally because it doesn't make sense that she has yet to release it after TWENTY FIVE YEARS and yet she's been SAYING she's about to release it the ENTIRE TIME). Im sick of these assholes milking Jeff for every penny, it's so similar to Courtney love and how she's been milking Kurt with wack conspiracy theories - the conspiracy theories about how she supposedly murdered Kurt only help her, it is what sensationalizes Kurt's death and every time they put out another documentary about Kurt's death it fuels nirvana sales and *she* is the one that gets all that money. I'm not saying Mary and Dave are doing it in an identical fashion, just that they're milking him for every penny with a similar vibe, obviously making conspiracy theories about Kurt to make more money is way worse but you probably get what I'm saying.
In all of the interviews Dave Lori does about Jeff, none of it is personal or insightful, it's all him basically just listing stuff and also boasting about Jeff as if he's a trophy. He's all like "heh I walked into the venue and told the guy 'oh ur guy can sing 3 octaves? Well my guy can do FIVE ya chump". It's pathetic, Jeff was a fantastic singer and his music speaks for itself we don't need it to be turned into this cheap garbage. Jeff's music means a lot to a huge amount of people and it's just disrespectful as hell the way Mary has worked with people like this to milk him for every penny. I can't imagine doing this to my own child after they died.

I think Lukas comment is less divisive, more true and thoughtful than you might realise. Nirvanas music is like journalism of the tragic, sad urban-youth, depression, self abuse and ultimately suicide. It is less healthy, and true to the story of humanity than maybe Jeffs was. Don’t get me wrong, Mojo pin is basically a song which glorified heroin use, and he does hit that trope. But nirvanas music is really more microcosmic, where as Jeffs music is masterly and timeless. I love nirvana, but I have to admit that it makes me sad when I think about it, so to enjoy it, I don’t.

It was a stupid accident kind of almost embarrassing, total fluke. He mentions his boot getting caught, going under and the “ fucking fishes in his mouth”. He had no intention to die. The phone calls came from that emotional place. He also has some concerns that the whole beautiful tortured artist succumbing to drugs and suicide. This was NOT him! Also this sensationalises drugs for young artists who may look up to him. He is proud of his legacy but this part concerns him.
