WOW!!! Opening doors ?!?! WOWERZ!!! A new yorker here & love trains!! These are like the same as the real subway cars only these are smaller. I want a set like this !! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Well, I rode the Coney Island - Jamaica RR as a kid and I'm pretty sure that the buzzer served as door alarm. Sometimes people blocked the doors w / Bikes etc....
Awesome Set Matt, I'm thinking about picking up the R16 silver ones. Do you know if there is a trolley mode like on MTH where it will just go into automatic mode (hands free) or do you just need to create your own recording on the Legacy remote for that?
Cool! Nope, no trolley mode. You'll have to create your own recording. I have videos on here how to do it and it running. The R16s are nice however, the windows don't like to stay in and the cars may have paint flaws.
Matt great looking set. I enjoyed the action of the doors opening and closing. Nice sound of the announcements of the train stations. In the 50ths and sixty's I road in the same train going to Coney Island for the day. Thanks for the nice merriness. Have a great day. Greetings Nick from New Jersey
Love your train set. Do you know where I can find one? I know this is system came out a long time ago, but I was hoping to find one reasonably priced. I'm also looking at MTH. They have an O and an HO version. The doors don't open on them.
mjc6184 Yes I do need to add passengers. The EL won't be for this train however because it ran in the tunnel hence the T in the QT name. NYCTA also had a train that ran over the bridge the QB but lionel hasn't modeled that one. I'd like to add a small "underground" passenger station at some point just not sure how I'm going to pull it off.
Will you do that sound like that it tells you that when the conductor tell you that it tell you that had the lineup and everything automotive Anderson have any connection to tell you open up the door unless the motive and tells conducted do we have indication
You should be able to open the doors on both sides at the same time. This was actually done at some double island stations on the subway to allow passengers to board or exit from either side. With all of those bells and whistles, the front car should have a wifi camera looking out the front door for an engineers view of your layout!
😎 Cool set with the add on package. Coney Island, would be a fun stop. Natthan's Hot Dogs • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂 🚌 🚌 🚌 🚌 🚌 🚌 🚌 🚌
Hi Matt and good luck with the set! As a transit retiree, the resistors you referred to earlier are the "Starting Resistors" commonly known to us Motormen/ now Train Operators as "THE GRIDS" # power taking positions on the controller were: Switching, Series and Parallel. If the controller was held for more than 20 seconds when restarting the train into switching, the grids would get "Cherry Red" and actually begin melting the steel resistor fins along the right of way causing numerous track fires. Hope this info helps you out. By the way Matt, do the 2 addon cars have operating headlights and taillights too? Thanks! Stu
Stuart Hartstein Thanks much! The info is a big help! The add-on set doesn't have tail lights since its meant to be placed in the middle of the train. Only car 8029 has tail and head lights in addition to the powered car.
Thankyou Matt! Appreciate the info! Now I know I must purchase the entire 4 car set first! I am very glad to offer you the info on the "grids". Excellent job sir by the way on your review of the product! Very professionally done! My compliments to you!
Stuart Hartstein Thanks so much! This set is just amazing. If you get it just watch the doors. On the 8028 car, the left side doors won't close. I currently have it near a building as a display piece until I have the money to fix it.
Wow! Did not realize that! I sure will be mindful of that, Thanks! The train horn also, is right on the money so you know! I cannot believe they caught the actual tone and pitch of the air horn! Lionel sure paid a lot of attention to the details of the interior and exterior car body. I feel they are better than the MTH? I was with the TA for 32 years and operated those cars too as well as the R1/9 models too. Boy oh boy could I tell you some stories of what I had seen and been through in 32 years there! I also just saw your video on installing led light strips into passenger cars. Great job there too! Very nice soldering job so I now see you also know your electronics too? If you like Matt, you can reach me at: trafficsigman@att.net sometime. Take care and best regards for now!
Stuart Hartstein You're welcome. Feel it's good to keep people in the loop. I've personally never seen (In person) an MTH subway so I can't really tell you how accurate they are compared to this but they do look nice. I'm thinking about maybe getting the R11 set from MTH. I've just recently started getting into electronics and firgured I'd show off some of the work I've done with those passenger cars. That was a fun project. I'd love to talk with out offline. prr2100@gmail.com is my email.
I remember when this came out absolutely incredible

That is a cool train Matt, I am not a train expert but I think the buzzer means that the doors are closed and the train can go.
Thanks! Yes, that is what the buzzer is for.
Well, I rode the Coney Island - Jamaica RR as a kid and I'm pretty sure that the buzzer served as door alarm. Sometimes people blocked the doors w / Bikes etc....
Cool. I've since learned what the buzzer is for.
Like the voice has New York accent even.
Sure does.
If I had a set of these as a kid, I never would've left my room...unless it was to ride the real thing!
Really nice new subway set Matt! Congrats and hope you had a good Christmas!
PghTrainFanatic Thanks, Nick! I sure had a good Christmas.

@@trainlover9943 I heard about the windows, easy fix there. I wasn't aware of the paint flaw issue.
@@wcmodelrailroad Its minor but it is there in most photos I've seen of the set.

Nick L Trains Thanks for watching!
As a New Yorker I take the subways to school and this is a really amazing set! The opening doors feature is very unique, amazing job!
Train Chamber I agree! This set is awesome!
AWESOME set Matt! Congrats and thanks for the review! Merry Christmas!
Bill Yates Thanks, Bill! Merry Christmas to you too!

Thanks! Ebay is your best bet since this is from 2007.
Where did buy this subway set? This looks nice
Grzyboskis trains in PA.
Sweet action! The buzzer was used by the conductor to signal the motorman that it's ok to proceed.
DjsOgaugeTrains Thanks, DJ!
Congrats on the set Matt Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Firehawk1218 Thanks, Darren!
Pretty amazing set matt. Looks like Santa 🎅 treated you well this year! Enjoy subway set! Merry Christmas!🎁🎄
mjc6184 Thanks, Mike! Yeah, I must have been good lol.
LOL - now you need to adds some passengers to those bad boys! You can build yourself a little "el" structure as well!
mjc6184 Yes I do need to add passengers. The EL won't be for this train however because it ran in the tunnel hence the T in the QT name. The MTH sets do that. The Lionel you only get the station names and sometimes stand clear of the closing doors
Nice review! Very cool looking set! Happy New Year and "Big Ups from Chicago"!
steven williams Thanks, Steven!
Very good review Matt. That set is one of the best pieces in your collection. Congratulations on a really nice set.
ajmayowskijr Thanks,Al! That means a lot. I really like this set! Thanks again!

Would be nice in a situation like that but you can't on this set.
God damn that is cool man, congrats on getting that set!

trainroomgary Thanks, Gary! I really like this set!
What would happen if a fart landed on the 3rd rail?
Not sure. Try going to a station and see what happens.

Will the Lionel subway set operate off the MTH DCS remote?
Sure will just need the proper equipment.
