Love this lesson - as a drummer also I loved the drumming analogy! Ghost notes and accents are staple of drumming, so it's nice to be able to apply these techniques to the piano. Stevie Wonder is also a great drummer, so it's easy to see where he got some of the rhythmic inspiration for this song.Yet another of your tutorials I'm going to have a go at!
Just stumbled on your channel, love it, always fiddled with stevie but im not a jazzer so never got the chords sounding sweet enough ie. correct and at 57 yrs old after playing since my teens you have got me in to thinking about this great sounding stuff! Thanks mate! Neil
Fabulous tutorial Pierre! I never could figure out those voicings and watched a great cruise band keyboardist doing E/C# ...addding the 9 made the difference!!! Thank you!!
Great tutorial! This type of rhythmic playing between the hands reminds me a lot of what a drummer would do between the ride and snare in a swing/soul style. Accents on the backbeat, and the triplets between the hands like ghost notes on a snare. 😁
This one and "Overjoyed" are unique, great tutorial
Oh yeah, "Overjoyed" is an all-time favorite of mine!
That very last chord...
What a great song and tutorial. Can you imagine if Stevie and Steely Dan collaborated. Thanks Pierre. How about Babylon Sister next.
Oh yes! One of my all-time favorite songs.
I wanna drive west on sunset to the sea!😅🚗🌅🌊
Thank you so much! You are an excellent teacher!
