Serial overthinker here. Going through a rough patch right now. My biggest advice would be: keep busy. The less you feel like doing things the more you need to keep busy and get outside of your head.

there’s no problem in asking for help, you should talk to your psychiatrist just to be sure and safe..Maybe you do have a disorder, there are so many types of psychological disorders that exist, and there’s no shame in having any, so I highly recommend you talk to a psychiatrist...because what if this habit of yours isolates you and cripples your life to such an extent that you regret later? It will be a really good idea to visit a good psychiatrist.
In normal situations just like me walking at a store or walking in my neighborhood. I always just think of the past, present, and future. - Thinking of 100's of possibilities, problems, solutions. Wether for good or bad results. Most of the time bad because i then overthink of that situation to where i dont know what decition i would make it good. Worrying for friends, people, strangers, asking if they are okay, there struggles, regrets, hopes, dreams, etc. - - I could be going to the Grocery store to walking to get water. the thoughts just boil and sear in my head.

I overthink about many things including, my college classes, social interactions, the fear of failure, the fear of rejection by my family or friends, applying for a job, applying for an internship, my weight, exercising, coming out as bisexual and how to get a boyfriend or girlfriend. 😭😭😭
Yes I've been 'accused' of overthinking by my previous romantic partners - because I analyze and dissect everything (their messages, our interactions) and then I jump to conclusions and make assumptions. I think it's also linked to the fact that I'm an introvert and I suffered childhood trauma (I have issues with intimacy and being abandoned as a child). It gets better with time but I guess I'll always be overthinking something. I've learnt to just keep quiet because it's difficult to find a partner who understands this concept.

I have PTSD and I'm an over thinker. The more I think about the past, the more my ptsd symptoms come through and then the more dissociated I become. When I become dissociated, my friends think that I never think about anything. I just find it funny that because I think so much it makes it seem like I dont think at all 😅
There were only a few good lines in "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull"... BUT my favorite was in the midst of the motorcycle chase, when Indy' says, "Sooner or later, you've got to get out of the library!" It's a good motto... Just remind yourself (or the other overthinkers nearby) of it once in a while, and try to do a little something, so you can get through the regular cycles of growth and life : 1. Try 2. Fail 3. Try again 4. Fail better 5. Try again 6. Fail FASTER and better 7. Repeat... You can't get anywhere being afraid of failing or screwing up. Everyone else only got to where they are by screwing up, and not letting the failures get the best of them (so trying again, etc...). ;o)

Yea I overthink a lot of things and it sucks. I did a lot of stupid silly mistakes in the past and I'm dwelling on them even though I shouldn't. I honestly wish those thoughts would go away forever and I could move on but It's a chore to do so. I also have nice days and low days and i wish all of those days would be good but it's such a struggle. I find myself feeling drained after having a nice day cos that day is gone and now ive got this day to deal with. Every night for the last 3 years, when I say goodnight to my parents, I say 'i love you' , 6 times, in different tones, trying to decide wich one sounds the best and most genuine. Most of the time bad because i then overthink of that situation to where i dont know what decition i would make it good. Worrying for friends, people, strangers, asking if they are okay, there struggles, regrets, hopes, dreams, etc.

Been overthinking all year. Failed one of my level one courses because of it.
I honestly feel like I've lost so much this year and felt like I couldn't go on. I kept hitting a dead end every time I tried to come up with a plan. Even now I'm still struggling with the overthinking. I'm just hoping for the best soon. My mind draws too many blanks at the moment.

Yes I've been 'accused' of overthinking by my previous romantic partners - because I analyze and dissect everything (their messages, our interactions) and then I jump to conclusions and make assumptions. I think it's also linked to the fact that I'm an introvert and I suffered childhood trauma (I have issues with intimacy and being abandoned as a child). It gets better with time but I guess I'll always be overthinking something. I've learnt to just keep quiet because it's difficult to find a partner who understands this concept.
I was overthinking just before watching this video and when I saw the notification for this video, I really said “Stop it” out loud 😭

Has anyone here ever been caught in a situation whereby a thought classes you mind eg " am not happy" and the that though keeps of coming back each min and finally you stop being happy and even if you try to force yourself out of that thought it never goes away...that is when you start panicking and then it becomes like a habit when you can't help the fact that you will wake up in the morning and have the same thoughts all day

I have PTSD and I'm an over thinker. The more I think about the past, the more my ptsd symptoms come through and then the more dissociated I become. When I become dissociated, my friends think that I never think about anything. I just find it funny that because I think so much it makes it seem like I dont think at all 😅

It's a good motto... Just remind yourself (or the other overthinkers nearby) of it once in a while, and try to do a little something, so you can get through the regular cycles of growth and life :

You can't get anywhere being afraid of failing or screwing up. Everyone else only got to where they are by screwing up, and not letting the failures get the best of them (so trying again, etc...). ;o)

Yea I overthink a lot of things and it sucks. I did a lot of stupid silly mistakes in the past and I'm dwelling on them even though I shouldn't. I honestly wish those thoughts would go away forever and I could move on but It's a chore to do so. I also have nice days and low days and i wish all of those days would be good but it's such a struggle. I find myself feeling drained after having a nice day cos that day is gone and now ive got this day to deal with. I just want to get better, be the best person I can be and not be so stupid like i was in the past and to move on for good. I just hope i get better because it would be the best time of my life being better and not depressed all the time
One of the biggest fear of overthinkers is to face their future soon, they're afraid of what they become in life
