Clarksdale Ms here 🙋🏾♀️.I was born and raised here 42 years. Actually, I still live here the city will never change " they want it to look this way" because it brings in tourism and interest to our small town😢..its still home tho ❤
I was born there, and moved to Jackson at 5, but went every summer and holiday, I still have family there, one of my cousins owns Hopson Law Firm, I know you know about Willow Park 😂😂😂
@@klwthe3rd you couldn't give me a house free in Clarksdale, the crime is beyond bad for a small town, humm but do they care, nope when the mayor family owns the biggest funeral home there, it's a handsome full of my family still there
@@mskymehopson2661 What kind of crime? Is there a large gang presence in the city limits? I see a lot of beautiful homes for sale in that town so i'm trying to learn more.
Clarksdale Ms here…raised in the round yard on 18th street. Went to Booker T Washington Elementary and Oakhurst. Grew up going to Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church where the late Rev. Willie Morganfield was my pastor. They actually did several gospel recordings that my grandma sung on from the 60’s -70s. I left in 1986 but still go back to visit family every couple yrs. Who are all educators in Clarksdale. My fondest memories are there. This will always be home to me. There are still a lot of great people there and that old school southern hospitality is still deep.
Grew up in Clarksdale. Moved away at a young age, but always went back to visit my family. Love the blues. Don't listen to nothing but the blues. Tyrone Davis was from Shelby, Ms. right down the streets from Clarksdale. Morgan Freeman has a club there now called Ground Zero and has had it for some years now. Still have friends and In-Laws living there.
I'm 52 now, I was born there, but at the age of 5, we moved to Jackson, my Aunt stayed on Sunflowers LN, my cousin died in the river behind the houses, ask any of your family if they remember that about 48 yrs ago, I go to Clarksdale for funerals and leave the same day
My daddy is from Shaw, he and Tyrone Davis were best friends up in Chicago. They also worked in the steel mill together in Chicago until his record hit.
I grew up there. Left when I was 12 years old. I lived at 545 Sunflower street. I didn't know Ike Turner that well because he was much older than I was, but my mother gave him some music lessons. I knew his little brother and his sister Ethel very well because we were around the same age. When my family moved to St. Louis MO. They also moved there shortly there after. As a matter of fact, I moved to San Diego in 1973 and Ike also moved there too. I have been back to Clarksdale only once. The first thing I did was to look for my old house which was not far from the "Riverton Bridge" on Sunflower street but it had been torn down. I will always remember when I first got to Clarksdale, I called the only friend I knew that still lived there and asked him was my house still standing? His reply was: we didn't know how it was still standing when you all were living in it".
My mother was born in Clarksdale MS 1926. I visited there in the early 90s. Actually saw the tin roof shack she was born in. There were 13 of them. Sad history.
Clarksdale MS is a very interesting place to live! Entertainment is great! Several shopping centers...Cleveland MS ( 35 miles from Clarksdale MS) is also a very interesting place to live as well
The shack up Inn at the beginning of the video can be see at the start of Peter Santenello's video of the Delta region on his UA-cam channel. Sadly he just drove by and didn't mention what it was at all. The murals are beautiful and give alot of character to a town that was the birthplace of blues. This channel is fast becoming my favorite when it comes to big and small towns in the Delta of Mississippi. Great job.
I'm from Tallhatchie, Mississippi, but we stayed in clackdale, but I still have family living in clackdale, Mississippi. I love my blues like zz Hill Tyrone davis b b king. I was raised off all of that, including the new upcoming Blues singers like King George.
Hi I live in Lambert Mississippi. I shop in Clarkdale years ago. I live in st paul Minnesota. I left Mississippi a long time ago. The south has changed. But, it's still home. Thanks for the video of cark😅. information.
I love the old time blues artists. I like John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Lightnin' Hopkins, Howlin' Wolf, Slim Harpo, Elmore James. I have their music on several of my playlists.
I've heard of the Shack-Up Inn. It's well known by a lot of people who are followers of the Blues music and it's history in Mississippi, which is where so many of the blues singers came from. I bet whenever there's a blues artist or a blues festival nearby, that hotel fills up.
Clarksdale Miss here! 😂 I got pregnant and moved away and didn’t turn back 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 my aunt and my mom and brother are the only ones that still stay in clarksdale. I see they have made some changes there.
Living just across border . Always want to see rural, this is rural. Looks 1930's . They need tourist to rejuvenate this community. Paint would help. Just drab.
C'dale can be a very dangerous town, Once a real estate agent didn't want to go there to show me a nice house!!! I want you to go to Helena-West Helena, AR but it's dangerous too. Just go in daytime (still dangerous) and stay on the main roads (still dangerous) . Governments now do everything except what we put them in power to do i. e. protect people and property.
What makes it so dangerous. There are a ton of videos like this one where people drive and get out and walk all through those towns. I'm not saying they don't have crime but i feel you are making these places out to be worse than what they are in reality.
@klwthe3rd Cdale was so bad the libtard mayor offered bad guys $10,000 cash to leave town. Answer to the 60's/70's questions "what it is? What it's gonna be like?" (When the commies caucasiophobe white hating racists take over.)
@@frankdowney6479 And that was just some citizen who walked in off the street and attacked a police dispatcher. That sounds like gang activity focused on the police. Not gang activity towards other people???
I love Mississippi but, Clarksdale is a horrible place. The gangs, Thugs, Raggedy houses. It's just a mess! I remember I was there with a local and we had to hit the ground. Pure pow, pow and more pows🤦🏿♀️ Please visit Greenville or Indianola.

How are the residential areas? If someone was to move to the city, are the houses for sale reasonably priced and nice?

A nice small town and love the beautiful murals but I would not live there because it's not far enough south and close to the Gulf Coast for me.

There are more to see in the summer, I wish I had started making Mississippi videos in the summer - when things are more lively.
There are more down my way in the Pine Belt
