We had been looking forward to our convo tonight. Unfortunately we started taking a shot every time you said swirly mitsudomoe, and Vic is now having his stomach pumped....
We will try to rally and make it.🙂
After months of looking and learning I think this is going to be my first sword. Then down the road I of course have to build my own with their BYO katana. Really stoked
I enjoyed this review as well as the review from Kyle released at the same time. Looking forward to your talk with him and Unsheathed Sword Reviews this Friday. Collab videos are always fun to watch. Surudoi is the kun'yomi reading of the kanji character "sharp", this sword seems to live up to that. RoM have been steadily improving their products, which is definitely welcomed!
I have actually been looking for a budget katana, so this was super helpful
Very good review. The lady cutting the bottle and her reaction cracked me up
Glad to see the improvement.
As a beginner backyard cutter, Ilove good swords in this price range! No sense in having my brother slice a hand sized chunk out of the cutting stand with a high end katana! If you'd ask them to make a matching Wakizashi I'd appreciate it!
Why do you always say you not an expert? In my eyes you are I have been watch 13 of your videos in a row before I buy any swords I always listen to your opinion on it you are the king 🤴🏽 when it comes to talking about swords ⚔️
Dang it. I had no intention of spending any money, but I think I'm buying this.
I am just about to start into some backyard cutting, and ive been looking for something like this. decent price, decent blade, decent enough to start with. thanks for doing these reviews.
The blade is amazing for the price and quality too. I would definitely save the designs to the Tsuka and have someone replace them on a stronger Tsuka. She’s a keeper. Awesome review!
I thought my sample of the same , did a good job for the price point, noted i needed to fix the fit of the sword in the saya as i felt it was a safety issue( too loose of a fit, didn't hold) but a very easy fix, i also felt i needed to hone my edge before testing..other then that the spring steel handled hard cutting well no sets, sprung back to form, but not destructive. I said it in my video that you would really love this sword with these designs 😅
Matt sees swirly mitsudome: "50 points to Gryffindor!"
14:15 Red pool noodle escaping after witnessing his fellow noodles getting brutally executed.
Look's Good to me and with the cost might be great buy
Cheers Matthew. Maybe because of European blades, grown to like hefty swords, even one handed. Lite blades I like are like, spadroons, small swords etc. Slan ☘️
Did you sharpen it when you got it?
Apologies if you mentioned this but is the tsuba alloy? Surely not plastic?
There isn't going to be a Doug Demuro score at the end? 🤣
not ready yet
What outfit do you wear when you practice with the katana
It would be Great if you rate swo9rds of different steel. People always seem to have their favorite but how can you tell for sure.
Respect for the company honoring feedback, will keep them in mind!
Есть ли исторические прототипы у лезвия этого меча?
Are there historical prototypes for the blade of this sword?
yes, this blade shape is a less common form, but still exists. It was originally made for polearms, like naginata, but many blades were repurposed into wakizashi. A long sword unokubi-zukuri was exceptionally rare.
Unfortunately RoM just significantly raised their prices on their swords now , this particular model is now $216 U.S. I just had a custom model I purchased for $180 U.S. and am very happy with it and was thinking of purchasing another . For me to purchase the same custom sword now would be $245. Sucks cause I hate being price gouged. Probably wont bother buying a second one from them now.
I just looked at the link and they still look to be $155.
still at $155 late sept 2024. says its on sale from 189, but everything on their website seems to be perpetually 'on sale'
Just paid $145 shipped for it (They give you a 10% coupon code). Remember too, this is a shipping included price.
I just wanted to say swirly mitsidome.
seems well worth the bucks!
