For a couple hundred bucks, that's pretty hard to beat. You get to pick exactly what you want, it's tough as nails and sharp as all hell. Not really a lot to complain about. Especially since it's not investment level money, so you aren't crying at the thought of actually smacking something. And let's be honest, if you're doing anything like the destruction tests with them, well, you're having a real bad day and the least of your concerns is a few chips on the edge. Lol. But credit where credit is due. That's some pretty good stuff right there.

I really like Shad’s Katana - “the Tyranth Slayer” because it has the Chanel’s blue and red wrapping. That’s kind of always been a staple when it comes to the channel.
Do this again but you each make your own swords completely and see whose is better. This was a fun video. I’d love to see you guys do the same thing with your personal dream swords. No need for destruction test doubles. I just like watching creative people’s dreams made real.

In defense of Shad’s saya- I think that was just his medieval sensibilities driving his choice, probably unconsciously. It does have a certain floral/vine flavor to it and as we know, that sort of naturalistic colorful decoration on sword sheaths was very popular in medieval Europe. Plainness, or rather understatement, was more the norm in medieval Japan as we see in Tyranth’s saya. Besides, Tyranth has no business claiming Shad’s saya is tacky considering that outright unhistorical anime tsuba. In any case the idea was to *personalize* their swords and in that perspective both are wild successes.
On the subject of naming swords and Orcrist. In the Hobbit, Balin says "swords are named after the deeds they do in battle." So Shad can name it "The Tyranth Slayer" after he kills Tyranth with it.
The same guy who built a black and red katana that looks like something Shadow the hedgehog would use, calls the blue one something an angsty teenager would own. I find that very funny funny.
The mark on the 3rd sword is from the game Ghost of Tsushima, it's the mark of the house of Sakai, a samurai family. It might also be a real historical family, I don't really know.
I'm surprised that you guys didn't try to go fully custom with the third sword with that kind of offer. Perhaps a follow-up video might be in order where you customize everything piece of the sword to create the 'perfect' katana; something like the aim in the creation of the fabled Tyranth Blade. No rules, except having to keep the spirit of the katana in mind.

So, recently I've been translating stories and uploading videos about the samurai from the mid Heian period like Taira no Koremochi, Taira no Masakado and Minamoto no Yorimitsu and I'm pretty sure all of them are watching this from beyond the grave hooting and hollering with glee at stuff like this.
I like tyranth's katana as a functional sword a little more, and outside of the awful plastic looking tsuba, I think it's the nicer one looking too. However, if you are just using it as a display piece or purely for soft cutting, then the T10 coloured blade is gorgeous.
From the looks I love the most "The Tyranth Slayer", The "Tyranth" sword looks for me worse, due the 'orange flame' clashing with the other colors. Flammador is also a good name for the katana. ^^ Oof, wow Tyranths upholding so much better is interesting. Tyranth wins by the heat treatment difference.

LOVE this sort of content. Would be awesome to see more vs/competition stuff. Like who can craft the best short sword/dagger/x sword type or apocalypse self made weapons. You both go away and create something with a spec and budget then you test them on different criteria, cutting, wielding, stabbing, chopping etc etc.
How would they go about doing that? Tyranth has some maker know how and could probably make something from scratch albeit not his specialty, but I don't think Shad has any expertise in the matter, other than theoretical. Unless they find a website that offers customizability like this, they can't.
I got one of their swords based on your recommendation. Their payment processor wasn't working for me for some reason, but their customer service team made sure my order got placed and they even gave me a $10 discount! Great people over at Romance of Men!
What I learnt from this is T10 is a great ornamental steel for swords & too sharp and thin an edge can lead to less structural integrity. I just wish I knew if I can own these in New South Wales.
When I ordered my custom katana from them back in april, I was going back and forth between the same blade and sharpness as Shad got, and a T10 blade. Good to see I made the right choice for durability.
The logo on the T10 Katana's saya is the Sakai clan logo from the game Ghost of Tsushima. Ironically, at the start of the video I went and started making my own custom one and that is the Saya I was looking at--now this video provides me with a better view of what it'd look like which is cool.
Do you guys have a report card for each sword you have reviewed thats rates stuff like blade sharpness, blade durability, handle durability, wieldability, value for the money, fit'n'finish, ect. That we can access and see/compare?
That flame tsuba is either made wrong or applied wrong. Becasue the flame tongues should go upwards, as opposed to downwards! Unless you are planning to be Rurouni Kenshin and only strike targets with the back of your blade. Otherwise the aerodynamic properties are gonna be slightly off. And yes, in Demon Slayer this tsuba was in exactly as I said - flame up, not down.
I felt it should be the other way around too, but in the show it's exactly like this in every shot I could find: the top of the flames are towards the edge side.
Honestly except for the sheathe I think the wild-card looks the best. It just fits my tastes and the coloring on the blade is just too cool. I will say though that you've convinced me to buy a katana from them, that quality and durability is just insane.

His early martial arts training included a passion for kendo and Kenjutsu if I recall correctly. But he then quickly fell into Hema and European Swordsmanship. This was back when I was listening to Shad, Skallagrim and La Metatron almost exclusively while playing No Man's Sky, almost day and night back in 2016/2017. If you have weight/pull with that company, have them make the Zatoichi stick sword with a button for the sheath that keeps it from falling out and make it a Ko-katana in length so is not super long and unwieldy .
I have 5 Japanese misnomers for you. Bairasshu (Violet flash/slash). Baikari (Violet Wrath). Baikido (Violet Rage/Fury). Baizuma (Violet Lightning). Finally my favorite... No'baioshi (The Violet Death), or just Baioshi (Violet Death). Use one to rename the wildcard katana.

If you have weight/pull with that company, have them make the Zatoichi stick sword with a button for the sheath that keeps it from falling out and make it a Ko-katana in length so is not super long and unwieldy .
Flamedor was by far my favorite looking sword. The purple blade, the blue pattered scabbard, perfect.

I have 5 Japanese misnomers for you. Bairasshu (Violet flash/slash). Baikari (Violet Wrath). Baikido (Violet Rage/Fury). Baizuma (Violet Lightning). Finally my favorite... No'baioshi (The Violet Death), or just Baioshi (Violet Death). Use one to rename the wildcard katana.
Best looking sword is the wildcard. That blade just looks awesome and I like the blue and white.
