Who remembers to watching this on boomerang ?
I remember watching this thousands of years before Boomerang. Long before cable TV in fact.
When did it air on cn?
I think originally in the early 60's. Not sure exactly when. Mostly I remember it in reruns in the 70's.
I sure the hell do.

Cartoons from the 50's and 60's really stand their own even these days.
Same. I saw it on Pro7, germany in the early 90's. Hanna-Barbera made very cool cartoons.
The original hustler.

My best memory of this cartoon was when I was at my dad's and I watched a marathon of this from 9pm-4am on boomarang while vomiting so i couldnt sleep. I just sat there occasionally puking watching this. Still a good show.
Back when Boomerang actually showed old cartoons.
Charlene Alyssa Ingram Now they only show stupid Tom and Jerry cartoons.
My memory of TC was when I was younger and I had it on DVD and I'd watch it while drawing around my hands on paper.

Choo Choo is arguably the most adorable character in HB's entire roster. I swear, he's like a fluffy pink angel wrapped in a warm sweater full of love.

Grunkle Cobro You my friend, had a really similar childhood to mine.
Cobro Yeah, you are right. I live in Middle-Europe, and my country obtained these cartoons much later. I am happy, that I had the luck and the honor to know these masterpieces of cartoon history. And I feel bad for both Hanna and Barbara because they are no longer among us. Rest in peace...
What about Jabberjaw and hong kong phooey? They were really good too.
mine too.. it seems like top cat gets less recognition than the flintstones and jetsons

Keep telling my wife this was on prime time in the early ‘60s…61 or 62 on ABC. Yep, remember it fondly. My favorite cartoon show at night on tuesday or wednesday. I even remember not finishing my homework to stay up and watch Top Cat. Not ready for school the next morning and I still feel awful about that today! Memories…
I’m 17 , but I remember watching this as a kid and also seeing the movie when it came out about 10 years ago lol. One of my only early childhood memories but this song is always in my head and I can never quite recite it accurately… until now!!
Safe journeys to all the ‘young’ people who are now just realising they are intact getting old xD.
Godspeed
Bro, some of us watched this in 60s and 70s. Lol
I'm 19 and I grew up with this show in the 2000s even though it's from the 60s. It used to air on Boomerang because Boomerang used to be mainly old cartoons, it's not like that anymore which is so stupid because now today's kids won't be exposed to old cartoons. I miss the old Boomerang.
If they ever bring the old boomerang back I'd cry
I turned recently 37. Grew up with these cartoons. This is my favorite one. Watching it in 80/90's on VHS with bunch of lads from neighbourhood brings a tear in my eye; only I had the VHS player at home. I remember how much pocket money I had to pay to rent these HVS's with HB cartoons... these emotions cannot be compared with anything that this immediate gratification generation feels. Interesting to see how I get old as each generation has its rights to feel and see things.

So many great children's TV shows and cartoons when I was a kid back in the 60s and 70s. We loved Top Cat - we even called one of our cats T.C. It was a great era for kids programmes, and not surprising that people of all ages are still enjoying them today.

I get emotional watching these old cartoons, they bring back memories...I had a happy childhood. It’s sad how time flies. Today you are a little kid watching Top Cat with your siblings not a worry in the world and the next day you wake up grown up and alone...
That definitely ended quite darkly. This comment was a while ago, I hope things are looking up for you now. (:
Hold on to those young memories. They will keep you going man
I had a grand Uncle who loved animation as an adult. I'll never forget being at his house one day watching Top Cat on Boomerang, when he came by the T.V. to see what I was watching.. He happily exclaimed "HEY! TOP CAT!" That was over 20 years ago, I was only about 9 years old, but I'll NEVER forget that moment or that man. It brings tears to my eyes every time. I miss you, Uncle Pedro.
What a marvelous memory! ❤ I watched Top Cat in the early 60s. My favorite Hanna-Barbera. The only theme song that comes to mind WITH the opening and closing animation.
I watched a marathon of this around 2012. My parents and my grandparents decided about a card game night at my grandparents house, my brother was watching them playing and I was in the other room watching top cat on boomerang from 8pm until 12-1am and hearing my parents and grandparents laughing and having fun. Oh boy wonderful memories

Nostalgia! Boomerang had so many awesome Hanna-Barbera cartoons like Top Cat, Hong Kong Phooey etc.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I use to absolutely love this show more than any other show on Boomerang. There’s something about the show that’s almost comforting (even though it’s a Mafia cat)

I love everything by Hannah-Barbera
I don't. They got very samey after a time, especially the shows that comprised three short segments featuring different characters, which were mostly just repetitive slapstick.

one of my favorites when I was a little kid, Saturday mornings were fun, sometimes home alone on Saturday morning, both my parents worked, usually my big much older brother was sleeping in
My favorite cartoon to watch on Saturday mornings as a kid. The ending still cracks me up when he gets ready for bed in the trash can. Love the TV antenna on the lid. Guess he wasn't going to watch a little late night TV before turning in. LOL!
Like "The Flintsones" and "Yogi Bear", this Hanna-Barbera cartoon was repeated in the early 1980's in the U.K. and was an instant hit with British kids, like me, all over again!
(In the U.K. he was known for a little while as "Boss Cat", to avoid some copyright infringement, but I always knew him as "Top Cat"!).
The theme tune is a classic and the title sequence was highly memorable from start to finish.
The coin and sting in the intro. The original troll trick.
One of my favorite Saturday morning cartoons back in the 1960s. And great opening theme song.
Man, such an awesome show! Awesome enough to get two films, which were great!
One of my absolute FAVE cartoons from childhood.
In Mexico, Don Gato y su pandilla (Top Cat) was very popular, as well as in the rest of Latin America, and at 24 years of age I still remember it with great affection.

Top Cat was created by Hanna-Barbera in the mold of the 1950s "Phil Silvers Show", a CBS TV military comedy. The Top Cat character was based on Silvers' Sergeant Bilko character and was played in the cartoon by comic actor, Arnold Stang. Conversely, "The Flintstones" Hanna-Barbera cartoon series was based on "The Honeymooners", another CBS comedy which featured Jackie Gleason in the central role.
The best show in Mexico

Did anyone else have difficulty with that line after "...intellectual close friends get to call him TC"? As a child I always thought it said " call by ???? whip in for tea", particularly as a hotel was depicted. It was only decades later that I found out that it was " providing it's with dignity". Now of course, hearing it again, that's clearly what it is. Perhaps it was the American accent.
