Soft top surfboards are so much fun! Ten years ago, I wouldn't be seen dead on one, but now, it's probably my most used. It's all about catching waves!
Nice videos, I did some surfing when I was Kid but I has been quite long time. Now at 45 I am trying to learn surfing. May be too late but I am trying anyway tks for the videos it is been very helpful.
Is 6,6 soft board good for me ? Cause I have been surfing for 5 years every summer and at some point I stopped I got this soft board and I don’t know if it’s good to easy surf
hello! am from Africa Kenya Coast Malindi, how can I get one long surfboard 8 like the one you have on your video I really like your video.how much to Kenya Malindi in ksh and how many days I get it thanks
Hi, this is a great video, thank you. Do you have any brand to recommend? I am 5.4, 60 kilos. What size of board should I be looking for? I am a beginner .
+Faye D Hi Faye! I would suggest a foam board around 7ft. It might still seem quite large, but it will give you a nice stable base for when you pop to your feet. If you are surfing for the first time it is a great idea to hire a board so you can try a few before you buy. I am not sure where you are located and what boards might be available in your area, but Softech and GBoards are a couple of my favourites. All the best!
+Faye D I know that this is old, but if you're looking for a surfboard check out March 21 surfboards. they're are great quality with a low price. I hope this helps
What size board is this? As a beginner I tried a 9 ft soft top I am 5'3" 138 lbs and it was harder for me to get my foot up to the middle to balance what would recommend for my first board?
My Dad recommended I get an 8 ft board but it hardly fits under my arm. Only the top of it does. What do u recommend. On smaller boards yrs a go I caught white wash n the green face a few times.
Sophie Brock depends your age and size. My buddy got first a 8ft when he was 14 and 50(around 110lbs). I got a 7ft foamie when I was 22 and 86kg (190lbs) and has no problems with it. We are both water polo players. So paddling is piece of cake and we are both in good shape
Sophie Brock it doesnt matter if it cant fit under your arm. So long as you get a board that is suited to your skill level you will be fine. Judging by your question i assume you're a beginner so i recommend using a soft top 8 footer like a wavestorm or something similar.
***** This is a Soft top surf board, it's a thruster set up. I would call this a fun board, you can catch so many waves with ease on this board. Have fun ;)
Can a 14 years old 43kg 1.65 meters high beginner start with a 6' shortboard? Please answer me and sorry for bad english but i'm Italian. I know is more difficult learn with a short but i can do that? Ps. In my zone there aren't surf school so i have to do all from myself.
You can absolutely start short but it also helps to have shortboardable waves in the 3-5 foot range to begin on. The reason so many people recommend longboard vs short to learn on is that people can learn on really small days and get a feel for it and then transition down in board size. You can also surf a longboard more place more days of the year so for those less hardcore its easier. Ironically I like longboarding better than shortboarding and it can be pretty darn hard once you get up in size because there is a lot more commitment and dropping in and turning a longboard on sizeable waves can be challenging.
Bella R. Yes its always good to put more weight but make sure you dont hit the sand or the reef, also when i duck dive on a soft top i push with my knee first and then with my foot, hope you understand what i mean (i’m french )
Depends on the your weight, strength and the volume of the board. I'd struggle to duck dive an 8 foot beginner foamboard and I'm 85kgs and been surfing nearly 10 years. You don't always need to duckdive to get to the line up, many other techniques that can be used
I can sirf a bit and from my parent i can buy a surfboard is it a good idea to buy a fish or do i realy need a longboard please anwser i really wanne now
Depends on where you surf, what your looking to do, your body height and weight, and a myriad of other factors. If the breaks are routinely 2 foot or less you might want to lean longboard. If its 2-4 the fish might come more into play, if its over 4 regularly you might want to look into a performance longboard, fish, or normal shortboard. This is insanely generalized and 3 foot to one surfer in Hawaii is 6 foot pipe to a surfer on the great lakes...
I was told before that I should use a 8 ft board as a beginner. But being 5'1, it just seems impossible for me to control the board. Is that really the size I should start with?
+Eva Liera I'm 5'9 so i'm still quite short and i started out on a 9 ft, Starting out on an 8 ft can be a bit daunting but bigger boards are a lot more stable and forgiving and also you can paddle on your knees which means you have a lot more power for catching waves and getting out. As you progress you may want to come down in size to a shorter board maybe a 6'6 because it will be more stable than your standard short board. Hope that helps.
+Will Christmas Thanks for the advice. I did try an 8 ft board (a foam one), but it seemed too heavy. Should I try a regular epoxy board, or switch down to 7'6 (which looks more "okay" for my size)?
+Eva Liera To be honest a 7ft 6 is wider usually than an 8ft so you probably will have problems with carrying that (if that is the problem). I would recommend looking at torq surfboards and their softop boards that go in all sizes.
This vid is weird, Am I imagining things or did she say that the women at the start was a goofy footer then their is vids of that same women surfing the natural way!
Quality soft board? I’ve never got my own board before but cheap plastic is not quality. It’s like that for everything used in the outdoors. (Believe me, I’ve played football, baseball, and ran track my whole life. I also play airsoft in some off time.) Never have I called cheap flimsy plastic nice. I’m not even going to try to remember anything she said. Absolutely stupid...
Did she seriously recommend a board that “has a lot of foam on the sides” and “fits under your arm” and a wetsuit that “protects you from the sun, makes you feel supported, and makes you feel great”? There is practically not a single shred of actual information regarding boards or wetsuits in this video, not to mention useful information

I like how she actually showed the mistakes. Well done :)
Jesus she just went over the top of that other learning surfer 😂
Dude this was on purpose because she wanted to illustrate the fools that may run over you. This was planned and the other surfer was a friend 😄
Thank that helped me a lot I got a new surf board
Nice videos, I did some surfing when I was Kid but I has been quite long time. Now at 45 I am trying to learn surfing. May be too late but I am trying anyway tks for the videos it is been very helpful.

Can you duck dive with a soft top board?
Bella R. Yes but its a bit more tricky, you have to paddle very hard before the dive
LAURE AVY Okay. Do I have to put more weight on the board as I go down to keep it under or will the paddling do the trick?
Bella R. Yes its always good to put more weight but make sure you dont hit the sand or the reef, also when i duck dive on a soft top i push with my knee first and then with my foot, hope you understand what i mean (i’m french )

could I take your email? Interesting
You’re friend tried to put the strap on her right foot first😂
I am 5'10

Go to the "G boards" website . I am sure you can mail order one. Stick with Long soft boards between 8-9 feet long when starting out.
Give me this board please 🙈🙈
Anyone from React?
Really hard to pay attention because the woman in this video is absolutely stunning.
#Sweet! =)
You can wack my in circles on top of my deck all u need.
Lmao
ua-cam.com/video/NTjpIuuH8IE/v-deo.html best moment in the video when she is going to put it on her right foot instead of the left :)
Didn’t discuss the right board lengths.
You wax soft tops??? Wtf?
leg rope and natural footed? at least get the terms correct if youre trying to teach people!!
Soft boards are trash. Start on a hard board and never look back. Its not the board but the commitment u have. Dont waste yr money.
U don’t know what ur talking about lol
This vid is weird, Am I imagining things or did she say that the women at the start was a goofy footer then their is vids of that same women surfing the natural way!
