      I'd recommend learning Houdini, UE5 and C4D. No need to stop at 1.

      @@Bobbybobby1 I mean personally I'm cool with all but Houdini can do literally anything so I rarely have any reason to leave it.

      I will use c4d for modeling and basic fx for games and freelancing, Houdini is an absolute beast but is hard to control and learn curve is so long it is more production friendly than Games, beside with tool like PCG in UE 5.2 and small apps like Gaea there is no need to learn Houdini

    That projection deformer is really not useful at all if your object has volume...which most 3d objects do. The best way to do this would be to surface deform the object to a plane, then shrink wrap the plane to the target object. After that, you can slide the object around on the surface by moving the plane. An old trick I used to do in Softimage. Once again, the Maxon developers not thinking too far outside the box. Of course, this is great for things like labels on bottles, but I can't think of any other uses for it.

    How do I disable these shadows of objects that get in the way when modeling?

      Edit - Preferences - Viewport Hardware - Shadows Max Set it to 0 while modeling.

    Hi, new rigid body does not have Aerodynamics ? That's the most important part for leaves !

      I've never used Aerodynamics, but now I have something to look into!

    They should rename and combine Standard and Physical into Legacy Renderer.

    Also why would they even call it Redshift for the basic. They should just make it a Native renderer for the software and make other DCC apps pay extra. And there you go: the path to Maxon's version of Eevee. Make it native first, make it realtime next!

      Why give your customers something for free when they will pay separately for it? I also think it helps keep people using other DCC apps happy that C4d users have to pay for it too.

    Wait.. they change the default render to redshift, but you still have to buy it separately???

      Redshift works on your CPU too. I can't say how fast it is though.

      @@BTB3D yes, but what is the point of selling a full 3d package but you can´t use gpu on your main engine? For that, you´ll have to buy it?? I mean... it´s 2024 release for God´s sake...

      @@braidskywalker1980 Houdini's Karma XPU can utilize both CPU and GPU

      @@rior2678 only cpu. If you want gpu rendering you will have to pay for it. big mistake from maxon in my opinion.

    It is wild seeing people compare Houdini to c4d come on guys it like comparing blender 3.6 with Houdini

      Good luck modeling in Houdini or learning the UI/Workflow of Blender.

    I still think Maxon needs something like Eevee. No realtime 3d in 2024 is rather mid.

      You're right this update is a bit underwhelming not gonna lie but I guess it's normal seeing the past two updates were including pyro and cloth with a lot of other changes.. but overall it's not worth the update that much

      I think Redshift RT was supposed to do that, but...it doesn't.

      Each program has it's strengths and weaknesses. For instance, having to model everything procedurally (like in Houdini) is not great.

    The viewport playback improvement is just what I've always wanted. That's not a good test that you set up. I have a scene with a ton of cloners and it was 3 times faster in 2024. Almost every test I did with heavy medical animation scenes had at least twice the speed playback...sometimes more. You're not going to see the difference if you're just someone who "plays around" with dynamics.

      I have noticed improvements in some other projects of mine, but not as much as I was expecting.
