Thanks for weighing in! Keep the comments coming! I've also got some thoughts on what Universal Studios can do better here: ua-cam.com/video/dr3qCadOxYY/v-deo.html And please consider subscribing if you enjoyed this video, there will probably be at least one more good one in the future!
I’m so glad this blew up! (In a good way!) because i remember it only had like 8 comments last time but im glad now it has 255! Also thanks for making this video! Avengers campus deserves more criticism but for some reason it seems largely forgotten even by most Disney fans. I personally was disappointed by how Disney overpromised with the campus but under delivered. For example it was going to be way bigger and way higher budget but that got canceled. Then they were at least going to redeem themselves by building a high budget ambitious avengers ride, that you’d get to pilot your own jetpack seat in. That was actually announced to the public, but then after 5 years it was cancelled for something way less ambitious and way lower budget. I don’t understand why Disney didn’t make an avengers land on the level of galaxys edge. The movies did extremely well and this was also right after endgame so everyone was hyped. Also Disney hyped up the campus and the spider man ride as something high tech and ambitious. But when I went opening week (and was very excited), it took me only about 5 minutes to realize the land sucked because: there was very little to do aside from buying merchandise or food. And the spider man ride was very bad, basically just being a spider man reskin of midway mania but they made the games not fun. You just flail your arms at the screen randomly. Also I found it kinda dumb that you can buy a $40 plastic wrist attachment in the gift shop to get a better score than everyone else. Sorry for the long rant it’s just I was very disappointed. Hopefully stark flight lab and the avengers multiverse ride turn out to be decent. But i worry they may be “meh” at best. Hopefully it also doesn’t take them another 10 years to build them. Considering the original avengers e ticket announcement was all the way back in 2019, yet it’s the end of 2024 and no construction has started yet. Infinity defense is just a marvel re skin of the overseas Disneys Neverland adventure. And stark flight lab is just them recycling half of the ride system meant for the cancelled 1st iteration of the avengers e ticket ride. Also I’m dumb, I just realized I commented everything above (minus the blew up part) a few months ago my bad 😂
Morals? People really have a pair of rose colored glasses on when thinking about the Disney company as a whole, even back to good ol' Walts days. You are the product, that largely hasn't ever not been the case.
@@Mike__Btrue but in past Disney used to keep up their end of the deal. Basically you pay top dollar to get in but you get a premium experience with creative high budget rides. Modern Disney no longer keeps up their end of the deal. They keep raising prices so you pay top dollar to get in, yet you no longer are getting creative high budget rides. Lately they have just been doing cheap lazy re themed lands or lands that are mostly gift shops instead of rides. Thankfully more people are not going but sadly there’s too many “cult like Disney adults” who go no matter what and who act like the company is god. So until they stop going Disney will continue this route. Eventually if enough people stop going they will be forced to change
@@ryanb4940 there’s no need to calm down because I was never flipping out 😂, rather it’s just disappointment. Also i already knew that but keep in mind they announce things all the time and end up canceling them. For example the avengers e ticket ride they have been promising us since the campus opened yet they haven’t even broke ground on the ride. Also they have a bad habit of making giant lands with only 1-2 rides with the rest of the land being just gift shops. I want to be excited and have faith in them but after being disappointed so many times i refuse to. Of course it’s not the end of the world, it’s just sad how far Disney has fallen though.
Just look at what they did at Epcot. They took away a bunch of stuff then took 7 years to put back less stuff. Do you want to pay $200 to play Cornhole in view of spaceship earth? Or go into a festival center with nothing but tables and chairs inside? Or stand in 100 degrees and 90% humidity in the sun watching a lip synched show? Or have your picture made in front of a vagina planter? If you do, then they've got you covered.
Makes you wonder how they're going to counter what Universal is going to be opening in the next 2 years. With how long it takes them to build a legit ride experience that isn't canceled, Disney has to be worried that competition has done way more than caught up with them. Fast and Furious is going to be the west coast's VelociCoaster and Epic Universe in Florida is going to make people forget Disney World is down the road.
Absolutely. And considering Universal is rumored to be building a hotel in Hollywood, even if they’re not taking the crown here I imagine they’re siphoning a very noticeable amount of dollars away
People keep saying stuff like this, but you should be a consumer of entertainment you should NOT have brand loyalty over parks, that's how you fall into the trap. Universal doing big things should be an absolute great thing if you go to Disney parks, because it absolutely will mean less people there which means less crowds if you're in the park which translates to more enjoyable. Hell Disney became so expensive because they absolutely could get away with the high prices because the alternatives were not as good, who knows maybe Disney will become more reasonable now just as a tactic to attract customers. No, as a consumer I'm happy there are more options, that works out better for me in the long run.
The magic is gone. I visited both parks, the one in California and the one in Florida and just felt sad and depressed going there. The California park is particularly dystopian.
@@KevKageNeedsALife The emotions running through me the last time I visited were sad. When I was young my experiences at the parks were joyful. The surrounding area around Anaheim had a very bad vibe.
Yup even as a local to the California Disney parks, I definitely think California adventure sucks and is the worst Disney park aside from Paris. It haunts me that we could have had west cot and Disney sea in Long Beach yet disney wasn’t patient enough to wait until they had the funds to do so
The spiderman ride at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando was better IMHO. If you've ridden on the Transformers ride at Universal Hollywood, then it's pretty much the same but with a Spiderman theme.
@@JoeyGarcia after they canceled the original ambitious ride system they had planned for the first iteration of the avengers e ticket, they announced they are going with something entirely different. The new avengers e ticket ride system is basically Disneys version of that spider man ride at universal. I don’t understand why Disney decided to cancel the ambitious ride system though. Although most likely they wanted to do it a lot cheaper
I LOVED DISNEY. VACATATIOED AT WDW 3-4 TIMES A YEAR FOR 10 YEARS. THEN I MOVED TO FLORIDA IN 1993 FOR RETIRMENT. I GOT A JOB AT DISNEY IN 1994 FOR SOMETHING TO DO. WORKING THERE GRADUALLY NEGATIVELY CHANGED MY OPINION OF THE COMPANY, NOT THE PRODUCT. THE LAST 5 YEARS HAS INTENSIFIED MY DISGUST FOR THE COMPANY AND HAS INITIATED A COMPLETE, FOR THE MOST PART, DISDAIN FOR THE PRODUCT. I'M NO LONGER PASSIONATE ABOUT DISNEY AND THAT'S SAD.
It’s crazy to compare this land with Marvel’s Island of Adventure in Orlando. IOA is so much more dynamic, exciting, and fun. Plus it has more rides. Even comparing it to a land like Diagon Alley, another IP themed land with just one ride and a couple of shows, is just sad because Diagon Alley feels lived in, there’s things to look at everywhere you go, tiny details that might go unnoticed your first or second time there, and you really feel like you’re living in the movie. Avengers land was so sparse with themed details. They slapped a few spider bots around and put that one hulk tree somewhere and called it a day lol.
Absolutely. And even if someone were to say Avengers Campus is smaller than the lands you mention - what about Super Nintendo World in Hollywood? I know tonally they are different but that place has one ride too yet it feels alive and exciting and for just $40 you can have fun on many repeat visits! 😄
i can't believe that you don't have a ton more subscribers! this is a super well done video. i just visited avenger's campus for the first time this spring and i was also severely underwhelmed. web slingers as the main attraction felt so unbelievably low effort.
That's so nice of you to say, thank you! I only started messing around with this a few months ago and have no real clue what I'm doing haha but yes - I should totally have more subscribers 😄 We'll see if that E-ticket gets an official date at D23. I'm not convinced.
They legit announced an awesome looking Quinjet ride when Campus was first announced, silently cancelled it, replaced it with what looks like a Star Tours-type ride (yay another screen based ride), and I don't think they've even started construction on the show building for it. This was, what, 5 years ago they announced the land?
@@KevKageNeedsALife Disney needs to start doing what Universal did with Nintendo at Hollywood, just start construction on it and don't tell anyone what it is till it's halfway done.
@@cynderrrrrrrI’m so disappointed they canceled that amazing quinjet ride. It looked very high budget and ambitious. This avengers e ticket multiverse ride is going to basically use a ride system very similar to the spider man ride at universal Orlando. Also take it with a grain of salt but one of the employees on Facebook even told me the Dr strange show was canceled because it’s going to be used as an entrance queue for the e ticket, and that construction is going to start soon. I assume after d23 this August they will announce more about it then start construction on it but maybe they will even sooner?
@@KevKageNeedsALife The building has never been built. It's just a facade with nothing behind it, except a massive open space where the showbuilding was intended to be built. It's all clearly visible on Google Earth.
Yes thank you - I’m incorrectly calling the facade with the doors a “building” haha. Did not realize the ride part isn’t even there! It’s not even at Mt Fuji level haha
The one thing about avengers campus that annoys me the most is the fact we could of had something cool like asgard or Wakanda instead we got a businesses district looking area with barely themed buildings
Wakanda was shown off in the Disneyland forward plans, it’ll be an expansion of avengers campus. Of course I have little faith in Disney because it could be low budget or 90% gift shops 😂 that’s assuming they even actually build it
Disney is messed up, a few years ago Epcot went thru some massive construction and on the walls was the artwork for avengers campus and guardians, when the walls went down, what was there?, disappointment, the cost cutting is blatant, and put on display for all to see.
@@KevKageNeedsALifeno, youre a bunch of spoiled brats with unrealistic expectations who just want more and more no matter what. You people are like the kid that begged for a toy all year and then gets it for Christmas, plays with it for 5 minutes and then moves on to wanting the next thing. The things disney is doing today are objectively better than the things they used to do, yall just have your nostalgia goggles strapped on so tight they blind you
@@slowazzd2165you can stop simping for Disney, I don’t think mickeys nor iger is going to suck you off for this dude 😂 You are no better than a child yourself, you’re like the kids who would fight at recess over which is better: Pokémon or digimon
As the owner of a blog that basically laments the decisions Niantic makes about Pokémon GO on a weekly basis, I highly enjoyed this critical look at Disney.
Disney has been inconsistent for many years. Just look at Tomorrowland and think about how long that's been a mess, the Peoplemover track has been left abandoned there for years. They screwed up California Adventure so bad they were giving away tickets then decided to spend $1bil to fix it. I don't know why they keep doing this because when they build something really special like Radiator Springs Racers or Indy they become beloved by Disney fans and are enjoyed for many decades. I would prefer them to look at a budget and if it gets cut to a point where they just can't deliver the experience, they just don't move forward with it until they have the budget to do so.
They had plans to keep fixing it after cars land and Buena vista street. But unfortunately they canceled the next plans because it was cheaper to just make them cheap lazy re themes instead
Did Disney shop out development of this land to Six Flags? That’s what it looks like. The only new ride there is basically the same ride as Toy Story Mania which already exists in that park. The whole land looks boring
Some of the area does have some very nice detail but yeah, overall… The Spider-Man ride definitely has its place, but when it’s the only new ride that an entire new area is based around, it definitely feels like a half-hearted effort
It honestly feels like it 😂 and I was surprised that many Disney adults were defending it. I won’t lie the campus looks good visually but in every other aspect it’s boring. It badly needs the avengers e ticket ride that they have been promising us for years
Tower of Terror was a better ride than Guardians of the Galaxy. Why? Tower of Terror had that spooky feel and even the cast members got to play along. It also had a build up to the biggest drop and a much better story. They took that and turned it into a bouncy ride that goes up and down with characters I don't really care about fighting to happy music. All because they wanted to try and act like Avengers Campus has an extra ride... I'm with you: I don't count it either!
Tower vs Guardians - def up for debate. I was a Tower truther. I loved that ride, I have no special affinity towards Marvel, and I went in WANTING to hate it. But I love it haha. It is absolutlely a tonal shift but I thought it was pretty impressive how they made a whole new experience out of an existing mechanism that works so well you would never know it was a reskin. Your criticisms are valid but they are also why I love it haha. Thanks for sharing!
@@ArynWellspring Yep, other versions of ToT are better, but Guardian's didn't even fill DCA's ToT smaller shoes (for me). I'm not the only one. Wait times are the same if not less with the re-skin.
@@NateDohDoubleGee That’s normal though. The wait times spiked when it was new but everything levels out eventually. Rides don’t have to maintain the same draw as when they were new. The park will always have the same capacity unless a completely new ride is built, but with DCA or Disneyland it would have to replace something that’s already there. Unfortunately if you don’t keep introducing something new then attendance falls off. Mission Breakout was a big boost to attendance in its first few years but it leveled off as all attractions do.
@@ArynWellspring For sure - it's normal for "new" rides to level off, but we see it leveled off at the same spot as the original ride (or less). Money spent on re-skinning a ride vs creating a new one that could have at least equal attendance which would have doubled ride capacity since the old ToT would still be there. A missed opportunity for a win-win. I'm willing to bet we'll see the same exact thing with Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
Kev you’re not wrong it’s rubbish (can’t use the word I want to). Disney Studios Paris nearly has more. We still have Tower of Terror (yes not GOTG) and as you say just a reskin. And we have a reskin of Rockin Rollercoaster and Web Slingers. But at least we have a rollercoaster included. And we thought we’re short changed but think you got the cuts bad with your avengers campus
What an incredibly nice thing to say, thank you! I think the plan is to make like, half content like this and half trash that is hopefully at the least funny haha
I'm not using the term "imagineers" anymore. They're just regular designes and engineers, just hired by Disney. And definitely not hired for actual talent anymore.
Oh I believe it! A good land will make the IP not as important every time. It’s why I think people criticizing Dark Universe for the monsters are so funny. That could be about Smurfs and it wouldn’t matter because it looks sick haha
Disney World and Disneyland have lost their minds. They must be 2 kinds of stupid me being a home based travel agent. I normally don't cuss what their cutbacks were wrong
@@KevKageNeedsALife Yes, Disney is and I usually have a Big fan of Disney tool. They started all these cut bags and all that's b.S and that failure to Star Wars hotel. They did big mistake. There was lower the price.A good bit and gay password discounts.Been a lot better off but yet again here we go.They don't care what the guess anymore. As a travel agent, I cannot condone that therefore I stopped selling Disney. And now i'm selling universal exclusively
Disney forgets/doesn’t care what made Disneyland unique and great. It was NOT lands based on their IPs/Movies - Fantasyland took care of that, while every other land was completely original, conceived and developed by their Imagineers. Which is why I’m SO glad we have the legacy lands and rides in Disneyland - Main Street, POTC, Haunted Mansion, BTMRR, etc.
I do think that those lands can be successful, it just comes down to whether or not they want to spend the time and energy and money to make it great. I personally don’t have any real affinity for the Cars franchise but that land is one of my favorite spots!
All Disney now cares about is how many dumb people are out there that will mortgage their homes to go for a week vacation, spend all the money they have, and go home broke. I want Walt and his philosophy back. Make this an affordable family vacation place to create memories.
For as long as I can remember it has always been pricy, but the unbelievable quality and experience was how we sort of rationalozed. Very hard to do these days!
Sorry for the long rant 😂: Thank you for the amazing video! I have been wanting to make one on this topic as well (hopefully soon I’ll get to it). Mainly because I used to be a huge fan of Disney mainly their parks because of how creative and high budget their rides used to be, but in the more recent years they got rid of nearly all their imagineering talent. Not to mention Disney has been budget cutting things like crazy due to greed. So a lot of the new rides/lands they promise us end up being disappointing. It also doesn’t help that leadership as Disney takes guests as idiots who will come in droves regardless of quality. Anyways Disney was hyping us all up for avengers campus. They were bragging about how high tech and expensive the web slingers ride was going to be. I went opening week and was extremely disappointed (it would be like telling your kids you’re going to Disneyland only to take them to six flags instead). The campus was cheap small and mostly gift shops. The Dr strange show was awful. And the lands one ride, web slingers was the worst ride Disney has ever made. It only took me 30 seconds when on it to realize it was just a spider man re skin of midway mania. Only this time you could buy a $30 wrist attachment to get a better score than others. What annoyed me the most was how for years they kept promising us that amazing quinjet ride (and even promised us it wasn’t going to be cancelled), only for them to turn around a few months later and cancel it for a cheaper multiverse ride. If you ever get a chance, check out the leaked concept art of the quinjet ride it looks amazing. The multiverse ride is basically going to just be an upgraded version of the spider man ride at universal Orlando. Anyways the quinjet ride was likely cancelled due to how expensive it was going to be, since around this time Disney was budget cutting everything due to greed. But also because around this time they lost a lot of talent after Disney tried to force them to move to Florida or lose their jobs. It’s sad too how a lot of “Disney adults” will defend these awful additions like avengers campus, like they legitimately get mad if you criticize Disney. Unfortunately that is why Disney is able to get away with it. If people stopped going then Disney would be forced to change for the better. Lastly, I really hope too that they announce more about this multiverse ride at this years d23 in August. Because if they pretend it doesn’t exist again, or cancel it, or only show off a single picture of the queue, I’m going to be so annoyed 😂. Although I can’t say I have much faith in them to actually built it. Not to mention I just hope once they build it that the ride doesn’t suck.
No need to apologize! We are all passionate about this stuff. You should make your video! I think criticisms without being super mean or angry about it are important! I understand the people who get mad at critiques of something they enjoy - when I was kid I LOVED the WWE and would yell at people who tried to say their competitor was better 😄😬 But yeah - I think it’s important to call out the bad stuff because they think people don’t notice or don’t care. The reason they are held to such a high standard is because they earned that title after decades of world-class stuff!
@@KevKageNeedsALife well said! And definitely good advice! I’ll work on the video soon : ) Also I just hope they announce more about the avengers e ticket at this years d23! The campus needs it badly lol
Sometimes I think strictish continuity to the movies, like in Batuu, doesn’t work great teither. Vader was walking around for years and that was ok to me because it’s cool to see him haha. But yeah the context in how you do that makes a difference
The concept art of a ride vehicle that you refer to is the 2nd version of an attraction that has been planned for this area. Avengers Campus is way too small and not well thought out.
Yeah it was extremely disappointing especially after Disney had been hyping it up for a while as some kind of fancy high tech experience. Instead we got a lame spider man version of midway mania. They didn’t even bother to put in an animatronic. Not to mention you can pay $30-$60 to buy one of those web shooting wrist attachments that will get you a better score on the ride. It’s kinda ridiculous that Disney put microtransactions into their already crappy ride. The sad thing too is originally they had a spider man swinging ride (used a new pendulum type ride system that was on a track hanging from the ceiling) and it looked a thousand times better than the crap we ended up getting. There’s even a picture of an official physical model of it floating around on Google
In the last 5 years Disney opened plenty of world-class attractions. In Asia . Where in china, the govt owns 50% and in japan, OLC own 100%. . . Paris is pretty bad too seeing a trend here
@@KevKageNeedsALife Didn't want to bring up PeopleMover, my ALL TIME FAVORITE. The Leadership at Disney is sucking out all of the profits for their own self-grandizement.
Avengers E-ticket would be a slam dunk. Any other park or studio would kill for such an ultra-successful culturally significant property under their ownership. Instead we got a half-baked screen shooter. Minion Mayhem is more interesting than web slingers. It's not just insane, it's shocking.
We are still getting an avengers e ticket and more will be announced about it at this years d23. But yeah other than that I have no idea when they will actually start construction on it, the lame land badly needs that ride
They should have made hollywoodland an avengers land, building upon what was already there. The campus looks like sht. And what a waste of potential for a spider man ride. An avengers e ticket... when avengers/mcu were peaking, and they really are an evergreen franchise, would absolutely kill but of course instead of putting the adventure in california adventure, they delivered something corny
The original version of it was going to be in the Hollywood backlot. But as it was budget cut heavily it got scaled back to the crap we have now. Luckily they are going to expand it as part of Disneyland forward (with a wakanda expansion). Originally i thought they’d expand it into the backlot but it seems like that’s where avatar is going. Also they were going to give us an e ticket quinjet ride. But due to budget cuts and Disney pushing out most of its talented and experienced imagineers, it was cancelled. Luckily we are still getting an e ticket but sadly it’ll be “mid” at best. It won’t be nearly as ambitious as the original planned one. Anyways the current avengers e ticket will basically be Disneys version of the spider man ride at universal Orlando
@dayoldbread1696 i hope pandora goes in the parking lot beside pixar pier. Transitioning from a seaside pier to a seaside landscape (alien or not) makes way more sense than just emerging from hollywood blvd into pandora. Hopyefully backlot becomes wakanda somehow and they scrap that mid avengers e ticket. Admittedly the first iteration of the ride did seem too complex, almoat dangerous, and would have had a lot of downtime, but to respet to 25 year old technology as an alternative is pretty lame. They have pattents for a swinging pendulum suspended dark ride system that they should have used for spiderman. They should bring that back for the e ticket.
Disney is amazing and will always be amazing. We go 30-50 times a year as a pass holder. We actually tried universal and it was will not up to Disney standards at all about half as good as Disney
Depends on how you look at it. The legacy attractions at Disneyland are timeless - no argument there! And the kinda meh stuff that Universal created in years past is still just as average now. So your overall experience may vary. But you can’t walk through the new Universal projects like Wizarding World or Super Nintendo World and think “these are average” - they are not, by any definition haha. Thanks for the comment!
Well it probably doesn't help that it costs them around 14 billion a year to run the parks, then there was a global pandemic that killed over a million people and forced them to keep the parks either gimped or closed for almost 2 years. During that time people weren't going to the movie theaters either so the movies weren't making any money either. The losses from 2020-2022 have really put a stop to alot of the money they had planned to spend because of all the money the lost
They also acquired Fox and spent a ton on Disney+ content, which is the point. They’re putting the money behind the wrong things. Comcast gets it. Maybe Disney should do a GoFundMe?
@@KevKageNeedsALifeexactly everyone likes to excuse Disney but universal on the other hand decided to use that time during covid to better their parks and to build epic universe. Disney could have done the same but they chose to do nothing. And like you said it’s not like they were broke. They paid a lot of money for that fox deal
How the heck would they even do the Quinjet attraction if they did? Concept art only shows the story, not the mechanics. Besides, I'm pretty sure setting it in Wakanda might disrespect the late Chadwick Boseman.
Don’t feel bad because you have an opinion, Kev. As of this writing (2024) we still have freedom of speech. So making your opinion known IS the American way… at the moment. If ANYTHING at Disneyland SUCKS (and WAY too many things do), it’s not just your right. It’s your DUTY to call them on it. Eyegor is certainly no prize. They thought so over at ABC-TV when he was screwing things up over there, so why should today be different? Without Uncle Walt to slap him around, he’ll continue to ruin it until absolutely NO ONE goes there. I’ve been among that number for a number of decades, and Boob Eyegor hasn’t even been there that long! (Michael Eisner did HIS share of killing Disneyland YEARS before Eyegor first got his crack at it). With things as they are, the best thing that could happen to D-Land would be to bulldoze the place and plant orange groves, the way it was before Uncle Walt built it into the amazing place it once was. And when Eyegor & Co. are finally denied the 8-figure paychecks they’re getting (which YOU pay and pay and pay and pay and pay for), I’ll have a party. And you’re invited, Kev.
The quinjet building isn’t even a building, it’s a facade. Also there is nowhere near enough space under it to fit a whole attraction. The actual attraction was supposed to be raised behind it, the headquarters building is supposed to be the marquee
Tbe problem with Avengers Campus isn't that it's incomplete and scaled back. It's that the MCU does not lend its self to a theme park land. Because the MCU is basically just the real world. When I think of the MCU I think of NYC. When I think of campus I think a college campus. neither of these things are what I want when I go to a theme park. The cost cutting just compounds the problem. When you compare it to IOA Marvel Super Hero Island it comes up way short because IOA has a theme of bringing you into the comic books. with that comic art style everywhere. Personally I still think that land feels cheap but it's way better than MCU Avengers campus. Plus IOA has 2 incredible rides in hulk and the amazing adventures of Spiderman. Its funny how everyone including my self think Heimlich's chew chew train was un-ironically just better than all of Avengers campus
That’s a great point and probably what I feel is missing with Galaxy’s Edge. If you take out the aliens it’s just…space? A desert? That’s not fun haha. I agree the land in IOA feels a little cheap but just like Toon Lagoon (which as a Sunday comics kid I love) I do appreciate the commitment to the bit, even if the execution is a little off
I get it haha. For real. But like at some point it’s doing a disservice. I think it’s important to let them know we aren’t rubes and we see it and it matters!
Haha the short version is while all the setup is neat and I give them credit for trying something new, to me it lacks re-rideability because getting through the whole thing feels like such a slog- not to mention it creates so many more opportunities for a breakdown. Diminishing returns with each ride. For me anyway
Disney has been going down hill for some time now. With their high prices, DEI and woke agenda they’ve ruined the park experiences and the Star Wars franchise. The final straw for me is when I saw the video of a guy with a mustache, dressed as a Disney princess working at the Bippity Bobbity Boutique assisting little girls selecting their own princess costumes. Nope. Won’t step onto another Disney Park in the USA. On the other hand, I’ve seen several rave reviews of Tokyo Japan’s Disneyland which show it to be far superior to the American parks. That one is not owned by Disney but rather by a Japanese corporation who leases the rights and runs the park. If you have the cash and want a great Disneyland experience, I strongly suggest you go to Japan. O
@@KevKageNeedsALife i love superheroes since always, i'm a marvel fan since i used to watch 90's xmen 90's spiderman and 90's hulk and laos spiderman and his friends on fox kids when i was little. Getting comicbooks here is challanging, there none comicbook stores, so i had improve my english and get overpriced imported comics until internet finally evolved. Marvel island feels like get inside a comicbook, specially from late 90's post heroes reborn (a nice time except for spiderman), this is something avengers campus only using the mcu can't recreated
Woke DEI killed Disney. They don’t care about good stories and serving the fans that love the properties they created and purchased. Disneyland is still fun and I love taking my kids. If the higher prices meant a better experience it would be worth it. But it’s gone downhill because the parks are supplementing the entire company that’s failing due to the fact that that they can’t write movies people want to pay to see.
Nah that’s a lazy assessment. I can’t know how to hear anymore about “woke.” The company isn’t failing for embracing inclusivity (which, as part of humanity, we should all be in favor of not alienating fellow humans) - it’s failing because the people making decisions about the moneymakers have a fundamental misunderstanding of the moneymakers because they are robots haha
@@KevKageNeedsALife you can call it lazy if you want but look at the stories of failed movies and shows over the last 5 years and you’ll see a common theme.
My common theme? Black Widow sucked Jungle Cruise sucked Eternals sucked Lightyear sucked Indy sucked Haunted Mansion sucked All of those were bad, pointless, and unnecessary. Soul and Turning Red, two great examples of inclusive stories, were great to excellent, and saying they failed because of underserved casting is both incorrect and silly. Drew - you got kids. Would you ever want them to feel alienated or not included? Of course not. The problem isn’t inclusivity. It’s boring retreads that undermine the audience by thinking they’ll clap at the thing they know regardless if the movie’s any good It sounds real bad when people Imply “no one is watching movies because they are putting diverse people and livelihoods in them” instead of “this sucks because a story about the toy buzz lightyear’s real life backstory is convoluted and stupid and appeals to no one”
@@KevKageNeedsALife you’re not wrong that those stories sucked. Part of the reason they sucked is forced diversity. Mandalorian was great until they made the main character everyone liked take a back seat so that a female lead could be the hero. That has happened over and over. What they should do is let existing properties and characters be true to the originals (because people like them and that’s why they are valuable and were successful in the first place). And then write really good original stories like they did for Soul. Go ahead and make them diverse if you want, just write a good story. Shoe-horning doesn’t work.
If the story’s good it doesn’t matter. They don’t need to do anything other than that. People like the stories because they’re good. I understand what you’re saying and I promise if the story was good you wouldn’t care. Mandalorian could have Liberace, Wanda Sykes, and AOC in starring roles and I assure you that you wouldn’t care if it kicked ass. Thinking it *can’t* kick ass solely based on who is involved is at the least lazy and at the worst perpetuating the most insidious possible opinions people have on things today. They made Bill Burr of all people work in Mando because those episodes were written by people who were invested in the franchise instead of mercaneries. If you don’t like the stories, cool. I think Last Jedi was wack as hell. But if you’re annoyed at the casting to the point of saying things like “woke” - look, we’re all passionate about the things we like but as we used to say in the carny world “no one hates pro wrestling more than pro wrestling fans” so maybe the issue isn’t the tv show for kids
The real sad thing is that Disney sucks now on pretty much ALL fronts. But unlike other times when they sort of sucked in one area or another, on top of their current multidirectional suckage, they now suck in a whole other area they never even ventured into previously…ideology! In that sense I guess one could say they today suck in a whole new and even pioneering way! A strange accomplishment for the Mouse, actually.🐭💩😂🙄

Disney lost their vision and morals. To Disney, you're just a cash machine. Their juice is no longer worth the squeeze.
They have definitely lost their focus on the customer experience and that is what always set them apart

From Bug's land that had 4 kiddy rides and one theater to just... 1 ride and one to two shows.
Without the Quinjet the land feels pretty…stark 😎
Just look at what they did at Epcot. They took away a bunch of stuff then took 7 years to put back less stuff. Do you want to pay $200 to play Cornhole in view of spaceship earth? Or go into a festival center with nothing but tables and chairs inside? Or stand in 100 degrees and 90% humidity in the sun watching a lip synched show? Or have your picture made in front of a vagina planter? If you do, then they've got you covered.

And it’s visible from almost everywhere one could be annoyed - Hollywood, Hyperion, list goes on haha
Totally agree!
These days the bottom line is more important than the guest experience. Disney only cares about finding more ways to fleece the rubes.

Absolutely true for Disney Springs and Downtown Disney haha

Nailed it. If I do another installment of this series, Tomorrowland is next. Inexcusable!

Did Disney shop out development of this land to Six Flags? That’s what it looks like. The only new ride there is basically the same ride as Toy Story Mania which already exists in that park. The whole land looks boring
Some of the area does have some very nice detail but yeah, overall…
The Spider-Man ride definitely has its place, but when it’s the only new ride that an entire new area is based around, it definitely feels like a half-hearted effort
It was a compromised version of ToT to begin with. At least Mission Breakout gets to be its own thing
Sorry for the long rant 😂:
Thank you for the amazing video!
I understand the people who get mad at critiques of something they enjoy - when I was kid I LOVED the WWE and would yell at people who tried to say their competitor was better 😄😬
But yeah - I think it’s important to call out the bad stuff because they think people don’t notice or don’t care. The reason they are held to such a high standard is because they earned that title after decades of world-class stuff!

An avengers e ticket... when avengers/mcu were peaking, and they really are an evergreen franchise, would absolutely kill but of course instead of putting the adventure in california adventure, they delivered something corny
Agreed. The whole thing feels like a mistake. Maybe something cool to come? I’ll stay tuned!!

I met Black Panther at Avengers Campus and lost my complete mind!!!!!!!!
He rules
All the resources went to Florida.
Looking at Epcot recently, if that's true that's a real bummer!
Sadly it seems like Disney corporate only cares about wdw. Here at the California Disney parks we only really get the leftover scraps 😂
I’m assuming that if they released the concept art they had a plan, but on second thought, maybe they didn’t!
@@KevKageNeedsALifethey did, I even have a few seconds of footage of them testing the flying portion!
I have more pieces of the concept art and even a few seconds of test footage of a part of the ride system. All from the imagineering video.
The marvel land at universal is way better even though it’s years older
I enjoy it!
" You need money to make money" = If you want to save money, don't open a Theme Park.
Correctamundo!
Yay! You said what we all think! Well done!
If this isn’t sarcastic, thank you, I’m trying. If it is…thank you anyway haha
Amazing. Thanks for watching and for the comment! It is funny to kind of wistfully be thinking of the Eisner years these days haha
The quinjet building isn’t even a building, it’s a facade. Also there is nowhere near enough space under it to fit a whole attraction. The actual attraction was supposed to be raised behind it, the headquarters building is supposed to be the marquee
Yeah isn’t it supposed to be like a 2-3 story building? I remember seeing it in the avengers e ticket concept art
Looks like they’ve got a lot of work to do then haha
@@KevKageNeedsALife yup I’m hoping they’ll start construction on it right after the d23 announcement
I agree the land in IOA feels a little cheap but just like Toon Lagoon (which as a Sunday comics kid I love) I do appreciate the commitment to the bit, even if the execution is a little off
It needs the avengers e ticket ride that Disney has been promising us for years
Is it weird that the only Disney franchises that I care about are cars and encanto
No! Those are fun! I love Emperor’s New Groove but totally get we’re not getting a Kuzco ride 😄
That intro song is awesome lol
Haha thank you! Artist is in the description!
Disney decided to become a political action group instead of an entertainment company.
Very silly comment but thank you for watching!
Spot on, parks aren’t worth the price
Not at the moment! Hoping they wow us with something soon! Epic Universe on the other hand…
You have more to do in Disneyland Paris it’s have more to do in that land that look the same as this one
🗣️ say it louder for the apologists in the back!
I get it haha. For real. But like at some point it’s doing a disservice. I think it’s important to let them know we aren’t rubes and we see it and it matters!
Good report.
Thank you!
Totally nailed it.
Thanks!
This is pretty much a copy n paste of the Avengers Campus that's been in Disney France for years.
I believe the Anaheim version came first by about a year. Is there a French Avenger? If not I’m for it
Now I want to watch your video why you don’t like Rise of the Resistance!
Haha the short version is while all the setup is neat and I give them credit for trying something new, to me it lacks re-rideability because getting through the whole thing feels like such a slog- not to mention it creates so many more opportunities for a breakdown. Diminishing returns with each ride. For me anyway
BahahahahaahhahahahHH they have gotten so cheap
Indeed!
O
You lost me after high prices but then got me back around Japan being better because Disney isn’t running it. Totally agree
Marvel island of superheroes on island of adventure is far superior than this
It definitely has its charm!
@@KevKageNeedsALife i love superheroes since always, i'm a marvel fan since i used to watch 90's xmen 90's spiderman and 90's hulk and laos spiderman and his friends on fox kids when i was little.

Marvel island feels like get inside a comicbook, specially from late 90's post heroes reborn (a nice time except for spiderman), this is something avengers campus only using the mcu can't recreated
absolutely! i think the whole "stepping inside a comic" is pretty neat! thanks for sharing that story!
@@KevKageNeedsALife i already been 3 times to florida and that land along spidey ride always make my day
Woke DEI killed Disney.
Black Widow sucked
Jungle Cruise sucked
Eternals sucked
Lightyear sucked
Indy sucked
Haunted Mansion sucked
All of those were bad, pointless, and unnecessary. Soul and Turning Red, two great examples of inclusive stories, were great to excellent, and saying they failed because of underserved casting is both incorrect and silly.
Drew - you got kids. Would you ever want them to feel alienated or not included? Of course not. The problem isn’t inclusivity. It’s boring retreads that undermine the audience by thinking they’ll clap at the thing they know regardless if the movie’s any good
It sounds real bad when people
Imply “no one is watching movies because they are putting diverse people and livelihoods in them” instead of “this sucks because a story about the toy buzz lightyear’s real life backstory is convoluted and stupid and appeals to no one”
Zero issues with ideology, big time issues with philosophy behind how to make the parks more profitable
