God I love your videos. I love ffxiv's story but I always had a hard time reading and properly following the raid story lines. They told interesting stories but I didn't like the pacing and the lack of voice acting. So this helps a lot and is always enjoyable to watch. :)
That's how Phaze and I felt playing through all of these the first time. The MSQ is always enjoyable in part because of the voice acting and having none of it in the side quests, with a lot of dialog, ends up feeling lesser in comparison.
Thank you so much I had to skip the beginning bit because my friend were waiting for me and I'm panicked when I realize I can't read most of this at the inn :(
the nier raid really hit for me, especially konogg losing anogg, how he was treated by the village, and how he reacted to it all. but i still understand what they were trying to say with anogg being a clone
I usually really like the raid stories, even if they're only tangentially related. I thought that the lore for Crystal Tower, Shadow of Mhach, and Return to Ivalice was really interesting, but... the YoRHa stuff just fell flat for me. Maybe it's because I haven't played any of the games, but it felt forced and uninteresting. I feel like there would've been better ways to incorporate Nier stuff into the lore instead of (essentially) just transplanting it. It felt really awkward. I'm glad that with Myths of the Realm we're going back to some original FFXIV specific content.
Ya Return to Ivalice felt part of the ffxiv world and in general they explained a lot more of it. Part of that may be that it's a FF title and already shares similarities that maybe Nier doesn't so it's more difficult to integrate the Nier story. It just didn't seem like they made any effort to explain anything with Nier tho. It relied too heavily on fan service and people having existing Nier knowledge. Very excited for Myths of the Realm as well!
Thing is…..it’s kind of par for the course for Nier when you take into consideration how nier emerged from the drakengard games (basically one of the endings of drakengard (a game that is your typical medieval fantasy with elves dragons pixies and magic) has your character chasing after the Queen Beast (basically a giant monster) through a magic portal……and that portal took you to the skies above modern day Tokyo. You and your dragon companion kill the queen beast and immediately get blown out of the sky by a jet fighter. However the queen beast body gave off an airborne pathogen that once you were infected you would either obey the will of the watchers (extra dimensional demon/angel/god things) and sacrifice your free will becoming a thrall to them…..or suffer an excruciatingly painful death where you get turned into a pillar of salt……this is the series of events that lead into Nier replicant/gestalt Like I said absurd things popping into your universe and fully acknowledging it’s from another universe is par for the course for drakengard/nier universe
@@EorzeanArchons knowing Yoko taro not explaining thing and making you go “ well how the hell was I exposed to know that without playing nier” is the goal If you ask him he would probably say something to the affect of “I want to give you them same level of confusion and lack of understanding that the people of the Nier universe got when elements of the Drakengard universe crossed dimensions into the Nier universe and threatened and ultimately killed all humans on the planet better succeed or all the people of Eorzea will be reduced to pillars of salt
Eh personally I found Return to Ivalice to be really boring and I had to struggle to get through that, this raid a least kept me interested throughout the whole thing. While I do agree the Nier stuff feels really forced, Anogg and Konogg are pretty fun characters.

I am Speed.
I really didn't like this raid's story, and I know nothign about Nier Automata, so I just skipped through the scenematics. Thanks for doing this!
