- Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has trashed the charge that Narendra Modi's Government at centre is intolerant towards criticism and dissent and that it is cracking down on opposition, journalists and activists for taking on the government. He spoke to Hindustan Times' Kumkum Chadha and said continued criticism of the Modi Government is itself proof of the Government's tolerance for dissent and unfavourable views. His wife and diplomat Lakshmi Puri, who also served at the United Nations for a long time, agreed with the minister and said there is a lot of freedom to 'abuse' the Government in India than in many other countries. Its a simple answer to why opposition & journalists hell bent on denigrating Modi and his government - because BJP's high competence shows the in-competence of opposition .. BJP government has instilled self esteem, patriotism, social welfare, infrastructure development, focus on internal and external security, growth and navigating through once-in-a-generation health crisis. BJP for 2024 and if I were to say until 2047. They need a clean check from citizen to take India to be a developed nation and disregard the "noise" .

When somebody criticises you and you are in public life , it is not called abuse. You have to be ready to face backlash and anger by people and the opposition even if it's harsh sometimes.(look how atal bihari vajpayee in parliament recalled how nehru took his criticism). Instead silencing the public with so called anti-national stringent laws, banning books and films, attacking independent media with ED,CBI. THIS IS NOT DEMOCRACY! IT IS A DANGEROUS SHIFT TO AUTHORITARIANISM. It's ironical how you criticise Indira Gandhi for the emergency rule and yet are following the same path towards absolute grip with power. However there is hope that people will always reject such forms of hate filled, authoritarians from power and until independent institutions (SC) are alive, democracy cannot be taken away from India
