Believe it or not, you could be skiing or snowboarding within two hours of Tokyo! In this video, I'll show you everything you need to know to visit the resorts around Yuzawa, concentrating on a day trip to Kagura. I'll show you how to buy a train ticket, rent equipment and even grab a tasty snack! I'll also explain why the Tokyo Wide Area Pass is perfect for up to three days worth of tourist travel from the capital! I visited Tokyo probably 5-6 times over the last 20yrs but never once considered heading out on a trip like this! Thanks for opening my eyes! Great vid, thanks for creating it.
You're very welcome, I was in exactly the same situation - I'd visited several times, including during Winter, but it never occurred to me I might be able to reach a resort that easily from the capital. I'd seen a few guides to visiting Gala Yuzawa - the one with the lift in the station - but none on the other resorts including Kagura, which is why I wanted to not only try it out, but make a video about it! Definitely worth a day trip during the season! My next video will be about a day trip to Nikko, a really nice town full of historic and cultural attractions.
I assume you made it to Kyoto. Not done it in a day myself but I reckon it may be possible. I think a “day trip” series would be quite good for all those business travellers who have a spare day to kill before flying home
@@mebrown101 thanks, yes, that's kind of what I was thinking for this one, and my next video to Nikko, as I had two extra days at the end of a work trip. Yep, I've been to Kyoto several times, and it's also possible on a day trip thanks to the speed of the trains! I think given one day, Nikko is actually nicer than Kyoto, and quieter too, but if you haven't been to either before, then Kyoto is of course your first choice! I hope you enjoy my future videos!
