Love it, and I feel your pain Fuji X100v is definitely a magical artefact if we are talking about taking photos with a digital camera. It just feels like using an analog camera once again. But then it is so hard to have all this cameras that are perfect for just one thing and I do think its better to go with one that is just good enough for everything, unless you have excessive amount of money :D Great video my friend and put some aloe :D

I don’t even think the money is the first reason against this, but rather time. We rarely have such luxury to travel somewhere on our own, carve out a block of time to purely do photography…
Had my x100v for 3 years.
Sold it for almost what I paid.
Purchased a mint (600shots) xt3, 35mm f1.4 and a 56mm f1.2
I wanted a change from the 35mm

The new x100vi piqued my interest, the larger sensor mitigates the fixed focal lens with the ability to crop in, it's stabilized for low light and video. And it supports heif if I want to save space and skip shooting raw. All of these are where my current x-t30 falls short. I don't shoot any video with my x-t30, the low light even with the f2 lenses is not the best in handheld situations, and I don't have any time to edit raw (even if I do shoot jpg+raw). For family pictures and documenting life, it seems like a no-brainer. On the other hand, with my x-t30 the most magical shots I've made were with the x35 f2, and I think it's the right balance of separation and it's easy to frame the shot, albeit it's too tight a lot of the times.

It’s a compromise. The 35mm often feels too tight at the point of shooting but the photos turn out great and well composed with not a lot of clutter. The 23mm feels less stressful at the time of shooting because of the extra room, but the shots can end up a bit messier. I have a 35mm f1.4 and an X100V as my only lenses but am thinking of selling the V.

Well I’m an XT-5 owner but in general I’ve found that at the highest level of quality and usability, it’s often not only reasonable but preferable to have different tools for each major task. Video and photos often require different settings and have different handling requirements. Creating a tool to do both will invariably involve compromise on both domains. The appeal of the X100V is the purity of its intent as a simple tool for photography. This is its best asset rather than a liability.
This is true and I completely agree. I realised later I haven’t made my argument understandable enough-it’s not that the camera has a shortcoming, it’s my lifestyle that’s changed, less time (and free hands) available so I was basically forced to switch. 😃
I wanted one for the same reason, to have one small and pocketable camera always by my side. But than the whole X100V craziness started, and that was like a cold shower...
Funny everyone complains about the price yet I paid over $3k for one RF lens.
I was totally ok with it and got it for a great price, about 1k eur if you deduct the vat as a business expense :).

Now I’m curious to know what will be your video tool of choice! I thought you would have said iPhone as lately it seems to be the weapon of choice of many creators for video especially when travelling! (And I’m preparing for a trip, so a nice compact camera from the X100 series or a small capable video camera like a DJI Action 4 were among the options!) 😄

I don't think I'll be getting the X100V again but who knows... I am currently looking into a Pentax 67 and a Fuji GFX50R, these two seem like a really, really enticing options for my style of photographing.
