15 year has passed and before getting killed my sister discovered that an Red Airbender Samurai named Phoenix was smart enough to solve the DL-6 case. Although Nick's problem solving skills are great, he still has to learn how to think differently(even after my sister told him how to a lot of times) before he's ready to solve the mystery

In my honest opinion: Yes, this anime's first 10 episodes (Original game) needed some work. HOWEVER, JFA's and TnT's adaptations were fucking incredible. I hate to see people always say "Well it isn't the game's story so its bad" then what would be the point of watching the anime? I watched a episode of the anime as I beat cases in the game, and it's honestly not bad. It's very overhated.
The anime is "overhated" because people are sick of unoriginality. It makes the anime boring to watch (not bad, just boring), and makes me question why Dual Destinies, Spirit of Justice, the Gyakuten Kenji and Dai Gyakuten Saiban duologies are so unknown, even though they're exactly what Ace Attorney needs. I'm not saying we should continue the DD/SoJ spiel, I'm saying that we need new content that relies on innovation rather than any sort of nostalgia pandering. Instead of Ace Attorney 7 we got the HD Trilogy, which isn't good in my book.
TheStoryteller made a fantastic video about this subject, called "The Future of Ace Attorney".
I personally don't like the anime, but I do feel it gets more hate than it deserves. It's not very good for veterans such as myself, but it's a decent way for newcomers to get invested. The OST is the only real saving grace, in my opinion, as well as a couple episodes such as Northward, Turnabout Express. These few episodes are utterly fantastic relative to the episodes detailing things we already knew, because you guessed it, they have unique stories that are genuinely interesting. The saying that Ace Attorney is stuck in 2004 is not an understatement, and the anime mostly failed to move the franchise forward.
@@torri776 Honestly have to agree with you here. The flashback episodes with Phoenix, Larry and Edgeworth as kids, the beach episode with Phoenix and Pearls, as well as Turnabout Express were easily the best in the whole series. As you said, it is a great way for newcomers to get invested. Multiple of my friends and myself got into the series by the anime, so I may be a little biased. However, I do not think its bad.
EDIT: Also, the changes they made to some cases (Turnabout Goodbyes being the most notable) was fantastic, because it encourages you to see the differences between the games and the anime, to play and watch both.
To be honesto,they should remaster it to cover the other games (AJ:AA,AAI:ME,DD and SOJ)
It definitely could've used a lot more time than it got for first game's cases, (Having the most iconic stories from the series, the first game's worth, only taking up the first half of a season was definitely not what the source material deserved, and there were some narratively vital scenes that got cut outright, like the Heartbroken Maya scene.) but in the case of the 2nd and 3rd games, it consistently significantly improved them. 2-3 is actually bareable in the anime, if not genuinely a good time. Larry doesn't get flanderized to hell and back into a downright creep anymore. And honestly the entirety of the 3rd game constantly dragged on for longer than it should've, which the anime curbed quite significantly.
Didn't know people so hated the anime til I clicked on this video.
Maybe it's just 'cause I haven't played the games, but the anime seemed pretty decent to me. Season 2 was definitely better than season 1, with better animation, voice acting, and overall production quality.
Even if it's bad as an adaptation, I think on its own the anime deserves less hate. Not saying it's flawless, but I enjoyed almost every episode without getting bored/turning it off.

The anime got me to play the games, and playing the games made me realize how much the anime falls short. Especially after going back and rewatching it.
I didn't played the games, but i watched them before watching the anime, the games were better overall, but the anime was still great, at least for me.

Sure, the first season was a bit of a mess.
But the second season was amazing.
But they deleted the psycho-locks things (they were shown only when Matt's one were broken)

I actually thought the second season was worse. It felt way too rushed and the animation got worse.
Ponyasha Wright I don't see the problem.
They got rid of the worst feature in JFA/T&T, that, on top of already being nonsensical and mostly just frustrating in the games, would have translated even worse to an anime where you're not even in control, and instead focused much more on the actual stories and characters.
Even if the anime was often too faced paced and it must have seemed to first time viewers as if Wright was sometimes just pulling crazy new theories out of his ass from seemingly nowhere (let's be fair, the games are rarely different), it still managed to be a great adaption of JFA and was better in some aspects.
For example, I still say that they did the Engarde reveal much better in the anime. It was too longwinded in the game because you as a player, Phoenix Wright in-game and even Matt Engarde himself already knew with like 90%+ certainty that the truth had been found out and were just beating around the bush for five minutes. I prefer the anime's relatively fast resolution because there really was no point in denying it as vigorously as Engarde did in JFA at that point. Obviously the far superior music and the good VA also helped, but it's unfair to compare the anime and game in those regards.
Lennart Speetzen In addition, people always complain "b-b-but they removed the psyche locks!" Yeah? That's like complaining that they removed the health bar. It's a gameplay mechanic that doesn't work in a TV show. Plus, I never liked the Psyche-Locks anyway, they always felt like Phoenix was cheating by being a living lie detector. The anime does a much better job of showing his deductive skills. One scene in particular that stood out to me was his conversation with Pearl in episode 16. Instead of basically cross-examining a kid, he instead talks gently to her, trying to convince her to tell him the truth. That worked much better dramatically for me.

For a person who rarely watch anime and definitely won't give anime adaption a try until I finished the game and remembered every details in the original games, I still like how the anime turned out. The animation quality may not really consistent (especially my Nick boi...), and some evidence's presentations are not really as logical because the time limit, I love how they express the characters' arcs, not to mention there are a lot of characters' interactions which in-game doesn't have (I love this the mossttt), and with the time limit for each episode I personally think they wrap up each case pretty well for an adaption. Definitely recommend watching the anime.
Oh the soundtracks are super good too, no objection to that at all ~ xD

To be honest, I had a love, hate relationship for the anime
The sad things were the fact that it missed out some of the details... However this doesn't affect me very much as an Ace Attorney fan And now that I'm watching it, sure I wanted to see Trial 1 for Justice for all, but what can you do?
The Good things were the fact it let the characters speak and it made them move and showed the scenes in HD. And that... Well... It's like an animated version (Even though the games were kinda animated) So yeah, those are my thoughts on the debate of whether it's worth a watch, I think it's worth to watch!
On the detail part, yeah, they could make that longer by simply extend the episode and season but it really unnecessary because it would be boring anime.
Showing every details is completely pointless. It's like you are trying to adapt a fictional book into movie, yeah there is some movie were adapted from book but it lack some detail.
Needless to say, it cost alot of effort, but it also cost budget.

They did adapt that case in the end - at the start of season 2, replacing the first case from Trials and Tribulations.
