    I came to your channel after watching the video you did with DownieLive. I used to be a Sales Rep for a automotive mining and industrial sales company for first their Narrogin Branch and then a shared role between Port Hedland and Karratha Branch. Through my role I did quite a few kilometres through both the areas you visited, although not much in between them. The landscape is incredible in both places and I loved driving through it and seeing it change as you tick off the kilometres. I remember that feeling watching your videos and it makes me want to get out there again.

What better thing to watch after a 16 hour day on the road, but another trucker sorry truckie driving his trains down under? Nothing better on UA-cam’s i say!

    I too seen you on Downielive. Looks like you had a lot of fun. I worked up in the Kimberly 40 years ago, on a cattle station. So I know what you are talking about with the heat. And I drove log trucks here in Victoria. The bush tracks are hard on the back. I used to drive a flintstone Mack with a 20 10/10 speed spicer, V8 350hp twin turbo. Sadly it was crashed, not long after I got out of it.

    Hi Mate,
    I lived in Newman for 10 years but now in Perth so we’ve seen a lot of the north but your videos have shown us a more in depth of what is up there. Brings back great memories of driving up there. One I will never forget was 10:00pm outside of Meekatharra going back to Newman we stopped on the side of the road and turned off the lights and looked up at the night sky it was so beautiful. No light pollution just absolutely clear. We now FIFO from Perth to Pilbara and at times still see the magic of the Pilbara. Thank you for your video. We follow you. Safe travels 🙏

    Aussie roadhouses don't seem too different to US truck stops. The difference in rigs is noticeable - I get the snorkel air intake and the massive bull bars. Don't see the massive truck cabs with kitchen/bathroom, wondered why they're not more common down under. Same with twin steer axle setups.
    Keep up the awesome videos mate 🤠

    • @RoadTrainAdventures
      @RoadTrainAdventures  Місяць тому +2

      It's because our truck is included in the maximum length.

    • @Luscious3174
      @Luscious3174 Місяць тому +2

      @@RoadTrainAdventures Yeah - tractor+trailer length limit. They have that in the US too - 65 feet depending on which state. It is kind of funny/ironic talking about length limits though when it's a road train. The big sleepers get by using a shorter trailer (40 foot) and sticking to truck routes.
      Geography would matter as well - a quad road train would struggle negotiating the rockies with the inclines and altitude. Most of Australia is, fortunately, very flat 😎

    • @RoadTrainAdventures

    Rosemary & Cedarwood Repellent. It doesn't have the chemical smell and feel most of the pressure packs have and a little bit goes a hell of a long way. working at a Pilbara mine some years back, they had sunscreen with insect repellent, the flys would dance around ya but wouldn't land on ya, next time your on a mine site ask them for some 👍

    G'Day Jonno. The best fly deterrent I have found is RID, in a maroon coloured container. (I guess it must be from Qld). Safe trips. Regards, Greg.

      @@RoadTrainAdventures G'Day Jonno. RID comes in multiple packaging, the 500ml bottle is the best value for money. It is also in available in 'Tropical strength' for those 747 Sized mozzies in Qld ;-)

    Another great video, thanks Johnno. I never realised just how much of a population of people and towns there is in the Pilbara, rather incredible, given it’s so damn hot but I suppose you would get used to the heat after a few years.
    I’ve worked outside on different jobs and I think I’ve found the best fly deterrent, and that is Aftershave believe it or not, it’s got to be one of reasonable quality but not the best quality. It’s either the alcohol content or the smelly stuff that seems to deter the flies.

    I had a good week mate, last weekend went to Winchelsea between Geelong and Colac, that truck went 1500 Klms to Dirranbandi , then straight back to Grenfell for the Thursday job to Walgett, another 541Klms just as well I don't have to fill out a log book... I knocked out over 3288 Klms this week.

    I use Bushmans with extra Deet I think is the best repellent.
    The funny think about the electric charger at billabong, like most out back road houses they are powered by diesel gensets. The electricity grid finishes around kalbarri. Even carnarvon has its own power station

      Some are diesel yes (and one on the Nullabor uses recycled deepfryer oil).. but far more efficient than a diesel car as can charge the batteries at constant slow revs.. but obviously some massive solar arrays will become the norm - no shortage of space afterall
