Terrific video, the drone footage adds tremendous views. Pretty bold hauling all that mass in the soft sand, but you do it very well. Keep up the great work. Thank you.
Yeah we love looking back at the drone footage to relive the moment and get a different perspective 👌🏼, yeah the trailer is pretty light but it takes some more planning through the tighter sections for sure. 🤙🏼
Wise choice to get back of the beach.. it's very very treacherous.. seaweed gets covered in sand and turns into a salty smelly goop without any warning.. spent 8 hours there digging and digging before we got out.. hope you get through the water.. the track along the cliffs are spectacular further west! Alternatively go out to the highway and come back down to Baxter's from Belladonia.
Yeah being solo and towing we didn’t want to risk it especially when I was getting late in the day, we had done a good amount of beach driving up until that point and tbh the dune track in near the cliffs was so spectacular anyway 🤩
It’s such an amazing experience, yes we know where Griffith is we have travelled through it on a outback NSW trip we did before leaving on our lap of Aus.
Thanks the ride along! Only in my old dreams now. I was a wanderer in my early years. Had the cat by the tail and a life full of wonderful memories. Have you ever had a wild mustang sniff you awake?
I am quite sure I have been to exactly that spot shown on the picture. It pissed me off to max. to find the rubbish behind that rock. Empty Whisky bottles, smashed glass, plastic etc. Complete disgrace. Nice beach. the usual beautiful white quartz sand as you find in that area.
Reminds me of me at the same age. Old troopy, Mrs, many of the same places you are seeing, back in the 80s. Love it. Have fun, this is the time of your life to do it. Too tough when you are my age lol.
Yeah would have been awesome to do it in the 80’s everything probably was a lot more remote in terms of phone service ect. We are very glad we put in all the work to be able to experience travelling Australia it at our age, thanks for watching and the support 👍🏼
I really enjoyed your video awesome fun on the track! Take it easy on the high tech stuff, bigger and better doesn’t always mean bigger and better memories!Keep up the good work!
Yeah mate there seems to be plenty of interest for more information regarding the trailer so will definitely do a good walk around and some videos from building it and will pop it together in a video in the next couple of weeks 👍🏼
Gday enjoying your videos, what the story on the camper trailer? Its obviously the back end of a Land Rover. Do you have have any videos on it? If not, can you do a video on how its put together.
Hey thanks for following along, yeah it’s the back of a Perentie. I am looking at doing a video about the vehicle and the trailer at some point in the near future. Keep your eyes out over the next couple of weeks.
Great video guys. We couldn't get onto the beach at Eyre Bird Observatory when we went last February, was a super steep, soft sand dune blocking access. Twilight Cove was our absolute favourite camp on the whole track, and we did all the way from Israelite Bay to Eucla. Solid effort getting the trailer in and out of Twilight Cove!
Yeah such a dramatic change in the conditions along the track, you can read plenty about it but until your there one of those tracks where things definitely change and need to be prepared for it, yeah twilight cove was stunning 😍. Yeah was a bit of fun towing the trailer for sure, couple of soft spots but otherwise all good 👍🏼 . Thanks for watching 😊
Yeah we try to have some level of safety on our adventures, we rely on our car as a home and mode of transport so sometimes the risk isn’t worth the reward ahahaha
Thanks guys, yeah we are in Perth atm and making the EP’s are reminding us of how good the track was, maybe one day we can tackle the entire 1000kms together 🤙🏼
Excellent vid! Thank you sharing with us. Life doesn’t really get much better than what you guys experienced out in the open country. Was it cold there down by the beach, or at your camping spot? Could you have gone swimming there? Anyway - good job to you both!
When you plan such - what is the longest distance have you done between fuel stations? If you carry extra fuel in gerrycans, how many litres (or gallons) did you carry? Also, how much water did you carry? Did you have an emergency Satphone? Years ago, my brother, a mutual close friend and myself, after taking the Indian-Pacific from Sydney to Perth, rented a car and drove 'around the top' back to Sydney. Had the time of our lives, took our time and had many stops at various roadhouses and towns along the way to 'quaff a few draughts'. At that time, in March-June 1980, they were in the process of paving the last section (some 400 km) of the Great Northern Highway (south of Broome). The western desert is beautiful. Your video rekindles many fond memories... Greetings from Montreal, Quebec, Canada! (edited for spelling mistakes)
@@SailorGerry longest distance we have done is 700kms, at the time we had a 45ltr tank and 2x 20 litre jerry cans we get about 11-14ltrs per hundred kms depending on where we will be driving I calculate if we have enough fuel, now with the added left hand side saddle tank (no jerry cans though) we have 90 litres of fuel so we can safely get 800kms of range, we are looking at putting a fuel tank in the rear to extend this further. We carry 70 litres of water in a poly tank. We have a GPS Personal locator beacon with us at all times. That sounds like such an epic roadtrip I’m glad you got the opportunity to see some of Australia’s most remote and unique places (especially in the 80’s) Thanks for the support from across the Globe 👍🏼
@@RovingBeyond Thank you very much for getting back with the info. Now that we're all retired, perhaps, will try to convince some old mates to head back to Oz for an outback adventure!
Thanks appreciate the feedback, yeah it is the 3.9 but has been turbocharged which makes it a lot more highway friendly towing. Heaps of Torque down low still need to get it properly tuned, have just tuned it so that the EGTs are safe and it doesn’t blow excessive smoke 💨
It’s a 1989 Land Rover Perentie originally built for the Australian Military, I will probably do a full rundown on UA-cam of the vehicle and trailer in the near future.
So jealous of the life style that young people have now a days. Thankyou for sharing.
Yeah took a lot of preparation and work to get were we are today but It is well worth it.
Haha, are you joking? What year are you?😮

That’s unfortunate, we didn’t find any rubbish really, a little bit but it looked as though it was washed up. Yes the cliffs are stunning for sure ❤️
Great video, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Great post guys, this track is on my list to do. Keep it up loving it 👍
Awesome to hear, it is such a great track. Would definitely drive it again, but the entire length which i think is close to 1000kms.
Been on that beach a few times and it does get very soft. Looks like you are a very sensible young couple

Prob best not take the Landy through waist deep water... Great vehicles, I got a 97 300tdi 110, it's awesome.
Yeah I as a little far and it got almost to armpit height and Phill is 6ft so maybe a little too deep 😂
Why not a line in the water or hook line to the drone to fish out,A good tip is if unsure of track send in the drone, save waste time fuel good video.
Do you mean the lake, yeah we sent the drone up to scout various other ways.
Excellent. Would love to do this track.
Yeah it was such a great track, best part is we didn’t see anyone until we got to the Esperance side.
love the vid, Is the landy one of the 3.9 isuzus ? would love to know how they go

Desde Canarias. Es un motor de gasolina?, qué cilindrada tiene? Muchas gracias por el vídeo tan bonito.
Hey, it’s a 3.9 litre turbo diesel engine from an Izuzu truck factory fitted here in Australia to the Army Land Rovers. Thankyou.
