Apparently, Hendrix was experimenting with ethnic/tribe/African sound and discovered Tuareg and African music...Who knows..Remember "Voodoo child"..After all..Hendrix was African American and we know that life on this planet came from Africa..Good comment tho, Marcus,...I am 60yo and I easily relate to it ..

I wish too, but mankind is in such deep spiritual crisis that we allowed them, the parasites, to infiltrate our minds and souls, every cornice of our lives - and to prepare everything for the onslaught we experience currently.
I am not negative, just dry.
But as we know "...hard times create good strong humans....".
We are one family of man and we have to come back to a basic spiritual knowledge - There is always a harmonic way.
I call it the "harmonics of creation" - not that source creates these harmonics - they come into effect by the structure of anything that exists, as any shape or form has to discriminate all other possibilities of structure in order to manifest
And there is simply a best way to achieve a structure - simply existing as a choice to be made.
We, us the people, have to come to terms that it's rather wise that the harmonic way is by far the best.
The coming time we will endure a test, a very severe one. I hope that many of us have common sense left in them and simply start to collaborate without need for money, competition and all the other inventions of the rat race.
Happy Hug. Love is the Healing and We are the Cure.

Hello! i am thinking of this for a long time now, in the karadeniz province of Turkey and other regions, there are very similar melodies to celtic melodies and as a bonus people in karadeniz region used to wear skirts both men and woman! and they play an instrument called "tulum" which is the same as bagpipes! celtic people used to live in anatolia in the middle ages too, so somewhere we cross paths.

This is mystical music. It’s origins are in a combination of mystical folk and Islamic Sufi songs/ music /chants hence the deep penetrating message of the guitar sound. It’s meant to be enjoyed but mainly to effect deep religious fervour and state in the listener through somber melody and message. This style as I said is mainly Sufi which was quite common until lately in many Muslim countries like Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, Northern Nigeria, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Algeria etc.
There is always a sort of sadness to this kind of music despite one enjoying it. Traditionally this genre is played in religious ceremonies in praise of good virtues, praise outstanding social religious figures etc with the aim of imparting religious habits etc. This you listen to Islamic folklore music from Thos regions you will see what o am talking about. Quite a few videos from Mali on UA-cam which can give you a glimpse of this, mainly women ensembles. Unfortunately there isn’t much of the music I am talking about in record form from areas Somalia and Ethiopia which was quite rich in this type of music upto the 80s when the newer generation of western influences style sort of ushered it out. But still quite common in Mali. So basically if you ask anyone who knows he’ll confirm the origins of these so powerful melodies as Islamic religious songs. Ali Farka attested indirectly to this in one of his videos when he said that these songs were not meant for beer, or scotch whisky etc but serious states. They instill higher and deep “metaphysical states” , (hence some people get a feeling of wanting to cry when listening without a reason).
Listeners in Somalia, Ethiopia and Sudan would see no difference in this type compared to their version. The thing is this genre has not been looked as deserves and has basically stopped as being labelled as blues but I have just told you it’s source . So next time you listen to rock music know where it comes from. That also explains why rock music is quite different from pop music.. Rock music has that same mystical effect from the guitar riffs melodies which is from “blues”. Blues meaning western definition of its origins but actual genre is African Islamic . Of course there are many other music from different cultures that does similar thing. If you’d ask Moctar he would definitely confirm his influence as would many singers from Mali etc like Diabate, Bagayoko etc. In Mali the religious link is quite deep and still very much alive. Easy to get into a trance from them.

see, the reason why the electric guitar appears to hit a creative wall after awhile is because we've only ever gotten to see it evolve in the hands of American and European kids, mostly spoiled and bored and living in relative peace... it's obviously a complex issue, but the general instability of the African continent (both religiously and socially) has suppressed the evolution of their music into the landscape of electric amplification and digital recording... we've been missing out on the potential soul and story and inspiration of an entire demographic of humans for decades and they're only finally getting to share their contributions to music again here recently

The music is very foreign to me and obviously the lyrics are indecipherable but the the rhythms are universal and uplifting. Spiritual might be a better word. I would just say that there is no need for comparison. Enjoy the unique spirit. One of the most uplifting hours I can recall.

The one thing that’s so crazy about him is he keeps his licks pretty simple it’s just the rhythm is unique and complex

The only criticism is against the person recording. The band is more than just the singer. The other musicians are awesome as well, they would have deserved their part!

oh yeah, that is a completely valid point. I wasn't even planning on recording the show originally hence I didn't have the multicam setup/people I usually do. I tried going to the other band members but didn't have a long enough lens to get a decent enough shot, nor could I move around for a better angle on them since we were packed in pretty tight up front (ah, the days before Covid)
