HOOK UPP!!! Way to shine a light on this wonderful new fishery!
Its unreal, its been epic out there, we stuck 4 more fish on Friday, i am going to post that video later this week!
HANG ON FOR DEAR LIFE!!! WOW What a huge TUNER!!!
Hang on for dear life is right, boy we got lucky with this one. It was a huge tuna!
Fish of a lifetime guys! Sweet video too
It really was, thanks man!
Wow. That’s a big one. Dreaming of landing one of that size one day!
Yes sir! It was our biggest so far!!
What impresses me about you guys is your success ratio. I am 1 for 4 (going for no 5 tomorrow). Those are expensive runs to come home empty handed (but still exciting and fun).
They are super expensive runs. I’m not sure exactly why our landing ratio is good. The only thing I can say is we wrench on the fish super hard and get them in as fast as possible. We get some of these in at around 10minutes. We never fight them more then 20-25 minutes
It's not so much that I don't land them, I just don't have many hook ups to begin with. In my five runs, I only hooked 2, one we landed, the other I lost within about one minute. Tristan and I were out yesterday, north and south of the football. Tons of life, including various tuna boils.... but we had no hook up on our 200 MadMacs all day. Frustrating.... Was still an awesome day though. I wish there was a "secret sauce", but I believe it comes down to simply finding them and then having the luck that they bite. The real skill is the battle and landing them. I wish I had more hook ups so that I can work on the landing skills :). Will go at it again later this week.
Oh gotcha I understand now. We have had a really great year and been at the right place and right time. Trolling these mad macs and hooking up comes down to being around fish that are willing to eat a mad Mac. Sometimes one school 1 Mile south of an area will eat the mad mac and the other school doesn’t. We went out today. Same area, tons of life, tons of tuna. It was our first trip ever we that we didn’t get a hookup. The bite is kind weird this week.
Great catch bro
Thanks man!
Awesome fish and great video
Thanks Howard!!
NorCal BF tuna KING! No needs to go SoCal for BF hahaha...nice fat awesome fish!
Haha no need for the socal fish!! We got them up here now!
This channel is dope...nice to actually see some killer tuna fishing up our way 🤙🏾new sub
Thanks! The tuna fishing has been on fire up here!
👍
What a beast ! Awesome.
It was our biggest of the year last year!
Wow!
Insane day!
Absolutely great job. Even if I don't get picked. That was a great video 🎉
Thanks David!!
You guys are killing it! Thanks for sharing your setup, how you fight the fish, and gaff techniques. How do you guys determine where you are going to start fishing? Are you looking at Chloro and temp break SAT data or trolling a canyon edge? I know you look for birds when you are out there. Hope to get one this year.
I saw your other comment on our other video I responded to that one, thanks for watching!
Awesome fish but the boat looks awesome too...
Thanks Jay! We have a video coming out soon on this whole project!
Putting in time on the water and landing a monster with a friend...nothing better 🐟.
It was epic!!
Well done 🎣🎣
Thanks Rich!
Wicked!
It was wicked!
new sub here. your video production and content is fire af!
Thats so awesome to hear that! These kinds of comments fire us up, we will keep pushing it out there!
Look's painful bringing those Tuna in ...would definitely be down for that 🤙🏾
This one was a brute. Its a blast catching these fish!
@@DDFishingCo is this a fairly new fishery up our way?
Yeah it is! This year more so than last year, each year it gets better and better. About 3 years ago the first ones started showing up.
I have 2 Mark 50W on PCH xxxxx waiting to get tested. Let’s go
Nice! You are battle ready 😎
Good job
Thanks Dave!
Sick vid, you guys kill it! Also, sick boat. Where did you get that pilot house? Is that homemade?
Thanks Rick!! We had the pilot house built by Hicks marine fabrication in Sonoma, he does awesome stuff!
🤙awesome catch guys, Tails Up 🤙
Yes sirrr!! Thanks!!
Spot on!👊🏻🇺🇸👊🏻
Thanks Arthur!!
Wow another great vid.. I'm a new subscriber and really appreciate you guys sharing info. I've yet to get out there but I have geared up based on the "how to" vid you guys did a couple weeks ago. I reckon we probably are coming close to the end of the season as the water cools down. What is the coldest water you've caught blue fin in or what is the latest time of year you've caught fish? Also it looks like when fighting the fish you need to have the boat in gear until you get the rod to the rail? Dang dude that was a beast of a sea monster!! Nice job and thanks again... Phil
Thanks Phil for watching, awesome to hear you have liked the content! If there is bait around they will cruise into the “cooler” water. We have seen them in 52-54 degree water. Last year it seemed like they stuck around through November. We will see the year with the upcoming rain. We fight the fish in gear but once it’s in the rail we go neutral, some guys fight in gear, we have had success staying in neutral.
Right on! Thanks for the response. I'm getting a late start this year but I think I may try to get out this weekend if for nothing else but to get the feel for trolling and all that goes with it. Couple more questions if it's alright... I got the okuma slx 50wide and did not realize it's a 2 speed should I have the 2speed button in or out.. do I attach the madmac to the leader via crimping or is there a knot I should use.. Also if you guys start guiding, I'll definitely be buying trips.. Thanks again
Phil
Thanks Phil, if you go out good luck out there! The weather seemed a little iffy for us this weekend. We tie the San Diego jam to our madmacs, some people use crimps too. Both work well. The two speeds are high gear and low gear. You’ll want to use high gear for reeling the fish in and really only might want low gear for when the fish is on the rail. Low gear is like a bike, it’s a strong gear but you pick up line really slow. So If the fish runs at you it will be hard to catch up too it. High gear is better for cranking them in. We may offer some charter next year!
Cool boat looks like a bunch of custom mods
We have done a ton of work to the boat this year, we are going to post a video about all the mods soon
Madmacs, Mad respect dudes 🫡
Madmacs have been unbelievable this year! Thanks man!
Copy that. It sure is weird to see the BFT jump around you but not biting. Maybe we can join forces some day. You are always welcome on my boat. Wishing you guys continued good luck.
That would be awesome thank you so much. Did you get out this weekend?
Yes, I went out with Willie on my boat yesterday (Saturday). It was very foggy - radar fishing all day. No bite for a long time but then all of a sudden. We ended up landing a 200 lbs. This fish almost broke my wrist when I gaffed it. Was quite a battle and it took us way longer than how you usually bring them in ...@@DDFishingCo
Nice man! We were out yesterday too! Those fish yesterday were in battle mode it sounds like. Some big fish caught yesterday and they put out big fights! That’s awesome, great job on sticking one.
Thank you. Great day. Glad we could land that beast.
Awesome man!
That is nice big BFF.. done
Big BFT One of our biggest forsure!
Awesome! What do you use to fabricate the transom holders?
Thanks!, are you talking about the transom rod holders?
Done!
Great video!!! When you say "tuna grounds" and Bodega. What area are you referring to? Not exact numbers but in general what areas do you target? THANKS
Typically the tuna grounds are where the water starts to warm up. It might go from 55-58 degrees real quick. They like the warmer water.
What # leader are you running? Great video!
130-200lb depending on what’s available and what we have laying around.
Nicely done, fellas. Great catch!! Fish on
Thanks George!
Fuck yeah
Thanks man!
1200’ 😳 wow,,,,,,7:26 is what she said 🤗
Haha that’s so funny. And there’s never enough inches to give 😂😂😂😂
Let’s go fishing
🎣😎
Is there any blue fin to be had out of bodega Bay ?
Im not sure, we haven't been out with the recent swell and weather. There is a possibility they are still out there!
Who fillets your fish for you?
We do it our selves, its a process for sure haha
Do u guys use HONDA engine for your boat?
I have a car manufactured by the company, which i usually use!!🎉❤
We actually have a Evinrude which is made by the company Johnson and Evinrude.
No petting fish allowed. Awesome job though. Still waiting to get my first owner.
Thanks!! There has been alot of fish around, hopefully you can stick one soon!
Do you do charters or take “friends” out haha.
Watch until the end of the video, we are doing a subscriber give away to take some subs out with us!
Beautiful fish! I'm now following in IG. How many miles do you think you put on in a typical trip?
Thanks Mitch! Total miles, maybe 100 - 200 including trolling depending on the day.
@@DDFishingCo Thanks! Looks like I need a bigger boat...
What kind of boat you got?
@@DDFishingCo It's a Tracker Targa V18 with a 30 gallon tank. I figure about a max range of 75 miles. She's great for inshore fishing salmon, halibut, crabbing, etc. I've debated heading further out with an extra can of gas and maybe another boat, but I'm too chicken to try it...
Oh I see, yeah it’s always better to be safe than sorry, maybe bring a few cans with ya!
Do you guys do chatter?
We don’t charter yet, we are looking into possibly doing that next year!
You guys are CHINGONES
Haha love the comment!!!!
Awesome, is there a contact info?
dndfishingco@gmail.com
Done! Pick me!
Fuk ya!!! That was insane!! Way to go slayers!!!!💪👊🤙🔥🔥🔥
Thanks man, it was wild!!!!
Fantastic fight but an even better finish. Very exciting and nerve racking at the same time. Maybe missed it but how long did it take you to land that fish?
Thanks Troy!! It was super stressful, but so worth it in the end. It took us about 30 minutes on this one.
y wuld u even go out wid 2 guys?😂😂😂knowing there’s 200lbs+monsters out there…wat u tryin to do fill up ur freezers j/k great content!!!!
Haha I would go out there solo trip!!! Thanks for watching !
