    This is such a wonderful concept. I work in the hospitality industry and rarely get two days off in a row, and for that reason I usually only do one or two overnights a year. Youve inspired me to try to do more. Thank you!

    Since I rarely get back to back days off, I do this often. Actually going to Harriman this weekend.

      @@ivanPipiskin it went great, made a mistake and didn't take enough layers since the temps dropped low at night. I would suggest base layers in addition.

    How did you guys light the fire when it rained just before?

      Good question. Standing dead trees are often your best bet for finding dry wood. Find a dead tree that's still standing. We were able to get a few branches of standing dead as well as twigs, leaves and other kindling. We also had some napkins.. forgot to mention that.. it's good to have something dry with you to help start your fire. Once we had a bit of a fire going we put other damp logs around it to dry them out.. eventually we were able to throw those on.

    What trail at Harriman state park did u go on ? And is that a camp ground u guys just choose or is it a set location that the park lets u camp?

    • @EveryotherKarl
      @EveryotherKarl  8 місяців тому

      This was near the lake sebago boat launch. It's not a campground, but camping is allowed and we used an established fire ring where people had camped before.

      @@EveryotherKarl thank you man I’m going this weekend . Last question about the campsite yall just a stumbled upon that on the trail . Or was that like a designated spot . Cause we just wanna have chill time not do anything wrong

    • @EveryotherKarl
      @EveryotherKarl  8 місяців тому +1

      It's not a spot that you could book or anything like that, it's just a well used spot with a fire ring of stones that will look like it was used recently. There are other spots nearby as well. Just look for fire rings that people have set up before.

    does anybody know of a place to backpack at just taking public transit? I’m moving to nyc soon and I love backpacking and will certainly need to escape the city and be in nature, but there’s no way i’ll be able to afford bringing my car to nyc :(

      You can get pretty close to Harriman State park by taking the train to Tuxedo NY.
