Quick Norah Jones story: A year before Norah swept the 2003 Grammy Awards, she had been advance booked to play the Edmonton Folk Festival in Alberta, Canada. Instead of pulling a "celeb" move after her Grammy victories and cancelling her appearance or bumping up her fee, Norah showed up as promised. A friend of mine was assigned to guide her around the Festival and see that she was looked after properly. He tells me that she was absolutely delightful to work with. No ego at all. Just a sweet soul brimming with talent.
Met her and the guys that same year, a month prior to the Grammy sweep. We both had separate gigs and agreed to meet up after soundchecks... she took us to a new Krispy Kreme. Nora requested Krispy-Kreme paper hats for all of us. A great time had by all.
I was born country music, have listened to it all of my life. What I don't understand is how I missed Nora Jones. Willie, Johnny, Merle, George, and most especially Emmylou have been singing to me forever. It amazes me that I missed Mz Jones. She's a class act. She didn't just start yesterday ❤.
I have been a music lover for all my life . Nora Jones is the only singer who makes me tear almost every time I hear her. She is so natural, authentic - that her singing enjoys me just as much as I enjoy.the song. She has a very unique style. Think for a moment how lucky we are that she cleaned up at the Grammys with the 'Come Away With Me' album. The money that flowed to her after has allowed her to write what she wants, play what she wants, play with who she likes, and do it all when she feels like doing it rather than being forced. I think that freedom she achieved has provided us with a rich set of rewards musically speaking. Happy musicians make better music and she seems pretty happy in this set of songs... and we are the better for it.
A national treasure. A confident, but understated connoisseur and translator of many genres. Fearless and uncompromising. Betting her dad would be proud.
Not only is she talented by herself, but she knows talent of others. That's why she plays along with these other good musicians . They compliment each other.
I like this Very Cool, Slow, Beautiful, Voice of Nora Jones. You can call it Country or You can call it Jazz. I just think of it and like to Listen Very Much, to Nora Jones' Voice!!!
Couple years ago, I saw her perform in a private venue, and I was lucky to be standing in front of the stage just fifteen feet from her. Wow. What talent! And seeing her that close up was proof to me she is one of the most stunningly beautiful people on the entire planet!
Her voice is absolutely velvet. She is a rare singer who's tone & expression tell more than her words. Once in a lifetime vocalist. Only a few vocalist compare, Billy Holiday being one.
In 2002 I was lunching at a restaurant on Greenville Avenue in Dallas when I heard the most incredible voice singing "Come Away With Me." I asked the waitress for the name of the artist, and she said, "That's Norah Jones. The album just came out, and she graduated from the School For the Performing Arts downtown." I was an immediate fan, but it was some time later that I learned that her father was none other than the man whose sitar music I had listened to for so many hours in the 1960s. I wore out that 8-track tape.
I have fairly eclectic tastes. I love good music - regardless of labels. If it's good, it's good. I could listen to Nora Jones all day and all night and never tire of that beautiful voice.
Am I the only person reminded of Linda Ronstadt back in the day. Both incredible voices, both as cute as can be and both such sweet, good people. Could listen to both of them all day long.
I am DEFINITELY ...and Im a big RONSTADT fan...I did many of her songs in my singing career...Generationally I feel Nora takes it all to a whole other level!! so happy to have lived a lifetime of witnessing BOTH!!!

I love everything about this woman. I remember all the horrible feelings I went throught after the girl who broke up with me and went on trying to figure out how to live my life even if I didn't want to. I discovered Norah Jones and found her music soothing. Then something happened to me and I started to just think for myself. I'd listen to music and went on with my journey throughout the years after the year 2014. It turned out to be 8 months, 3 months, 18 days later or 4 months later now. I feel like doing what I did in 2021 again this year. What I did in December 2021 this year in 2023. I went up to the office asking for a girl name Clarissa about the holidays . It felt like a magical moment ❤️. I feel like doing it again this year in 2023. Doing what I did in 2021 all over again. I thought about a girl name Clarissa. The one who evaluated me in 2019. After the girl who broke up with me when I was age 26, I met a girl name Clarissa at age 30 in 2019. I remember that day feeling it was a magical moment. I never saw Clarissa again after the evaluation. Like if it was the last time. Grieving about the matter. I still listen to Norah Jones and think she's one of the best . I remember going through some kind of movement to the music of Norah Jones in some way when I listen to one or two of her albums.

Been a huge fan of this woman for more than half my life. Seen her live in Concert at the Manchester Apollo arena, twice. [Come back to the UK soon Norah, we miss you] I just don't understand why she's not massive, today. She should be, she NEEDS to be. It's not a question of her talent as that is undeniable. It's a question of the music industry, generally. It focuses too much on trend and flashiness and pazass and not enough on what Norah, and some others genuinely show, with every concert or performance they ever do. If all of it was just which are the best musicians, the best at creating Music, Norah is a shoe in for one of the best of all time. Sadly, that is not the reality, so, Norah Jones doesn't have hundreds of millions of fans, even though she ought to. Because too many are overlooking her. I mean it's OK, she has tens of millions who believe in her, I bet, but, she deserves more.

You ever watch a band and think " now those guys would be interesting to talk to". LOL

Back to Manhattan is sublime. I absolutely adore a medium sized ensemble where everyone is doing very little, but move with purpose as a cohesive unit. It's makes for such a nicer texture and timbre to my ears. And The Fall has been my favorite album Norah Jones has released.
When you say "they're doing very little" that is a huge compliment. "Less is More".. It takes a significant amount of skill and restraint to sound like "they're doing very little". There's a lot of skill and effort needed "not to play", until just the right time. "After Silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible, is music."
Falling in love with a place feels a lot like hunger, but also satisfaction. There is this constant desire for more; all you can think about is seeing more and embracing it. The adventure consumes you.

My daughter brought Norah Jones to my attention about 20 yrs ago, just rediscovered her this morning, what a talent.
Not only is she talented by herself, but she knows talent of others. That's why she plays along with these other good musicians . They compliment each other.

Linda was a real belter vocally, but the shy sweetness that they show in their personalities is quite similar. They seem a little nervous to me.
