Stirling car driving via butane lighter.

  • Testing out a Bohm Stirling Engine I just received from my pal Dan. Thanks for the fun project Dan. Great find!
    This engine runs fine with a butane flame at the proper distance from the rear of the displacer cylinder, which is brass and around 1/2 inch in diameter (I have not checked it on a caliper yet). It does however, seem to have a window of oscillation, which is dependant on staying within an optimum temperature range.

      Thanks. For sure these are fun. I'm now highly motivated to design more of my own, after getting my feet wet on a few simple soda can Stirling builds a few years ago.
      Time to start saving up for a metal lathe, or at least a small hobby lathe. 👍
