    Thank you so much for taking the time to put this video together and posting to UA-cam. It was very informative and will likely lead to my purchase of this unit once I finally get tired of manually programming my old unit to adjust to changing weather conditions. Two things I checked that might be useful for someone looking to purchase: 1) make sure you have a WiFi signal that will reach the area where you plan to mount the unit, 2) per the Quick Start guide, make sure you have 2.4 GHz WiFi available as the unit does not work with 5 GHz WiFi

      Still good, but in all fairness most timers warranties are between 1-3 yrs.
      I think the Hunter X-2 timer is better, no batteries, lite screen with large font, skips zones with a short, also uses an app with choice for Bluetooth for smaller yards with sketchy WiFi.

      When you plug in the timer it will blink “blue”, next open the “App” on your smart phone etc. Make sure your phone or device has Bluetooth turned on. Follow the steps in the app, once you choose your WiFi and enter the password the timer will have a solid “white” light. You’re now connected.
      Holding down the 0 5 times just resets the programming, it won’t pair the app to the timer.

    Here's some more insight on the program name, which is the main reason I purchased the Bhyve. I run two programs, named: Front Yard and Back Yard. With the old system, I could only run the front and back yard in tandem. However, with this system, I can run two separate programs for the front and backyard. Currently I run the front yard every 3 days and the back yard every 2 days. The reason is that my front yard gets a lot of shade during the day, whereas the back yard gets a lot of sun all day long. The only thing a person should be aware of is to not overlap programs. For example, since I water every three days in front and every two days in back there are some days where both programs will run on the same day. I don't want the run times to overlap, otherwise I'll lose water pressure with two stations running at the same time and won't get full coverage.

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  4 роки тому

      Good points, thank you for sharing. Most timers contain A, B Programs that allow the same flexibility. Glad you’re happy with your purchase and becoming familiar with it’s intricacies.😉

    • @echosmyth5021
      @echosmyth5021 4 роки тому

      @@garyssprinklerrepair My old system had A and B also, but I could only run one or the other and would need to manually change it. It wouldn't run both programs at the same time. I should point out that the difference between my front and backyard is so stark that simply changing the duration between front and back sprinkler run times wasn't sufficient. If I ran the front as frequently as the back needed, and shortened the run time, I would get mushrooms because it wouldn't have enough time to dry up, even with shorter run times. If I ran the back on the front's schedule and just increased the duration, I would end up with a swamp on watering days. Now it runs like a well oiled machine.

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  4 роки тому

      Echo Smyth I guess what I was trying to explain is if you enter a run time for zone 1 in A program for (front) MWFS
      Then program B program to run T Th S
      Leave zone 1 out only set run times for let’s say zone 2,3 ( back lawns) Hope you see what I’m trying to explain. Now A program runs and B program run different zones for different times on different days.

    • @echosmyth5021
      @echosmyth5021 4 роки тому

      @@garyssprinklerrepair Yes, I understand. What I'm saying, using your example, with my old timer, I would need to manually switch from program A to program B every single day. If I didn't switch from A to B, then it would only run program A. (Or B if I left it switched to B)

  • @briand.1694

    Good video but does not describe what type valve/valves are being used. For instance, my existing system uses an Intermatic mechanical timer with a simple on/off/on 24V Irritrol in-line valve so my wiring is not going to be the same as what you describe here.

    • @garyssprinklerrepair

      The valves are not relevant, it works for all low voltage valves except D/C battery operated. Low voltage wiring will be the same as you have now(1common, 1colored per valve) no different that you have no just it sets like an alarm clock and can be connected to your WiFi (no internet then won’t work for you.

    Hello, Sorry for my question, I have the ordinary non wifi hunter controller, I want to swap to this B-hyve 6 zones. Is it simple to do the swap? Is there instruction guide? Are those number 1-8 are the zones?

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  Рік тому

      Yes, it is very easy to do the swap. Before you go thru all the trouble first hold your phone up to the location and make sure you have 3 WiFi bars. The numbers 1-8 are the stations, correct.

    Do I have to install this in the same place my old irrigation system is located?

    • @garyssprinklerrepair

      No, you can always move to but you will need to probably extend the valve wires that lead up to it.

    Swapped out Hunter for this device. I have 3 extra wires (red,white,blue) that were wired to the Hunter, but I'm not sure I need on the B Hyve. Any ideas?

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  4 роки тому

      Extra wire are normal, the white wire is normally the wire that’s used for a common. If you have 6 wires and only 2 valves you will have three left over. Unless you you use a pum

    how can I add an external rain sensor to my b-hyve indoor timer?

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  2 роки тому

      If I’m not mistaken you can set rain preferences on the app.
      (ex: delay operation for 48 hrs. After .5” of rain)
      Freeze-Delay operation when temperature is below 32 * F
      You can also buy a wired rain/sensor it connects to the sensor ports on bottom far right of the timer.

    If you have a power outage or unplug this unit, do you have to start all over and re-program it? Or does it save the previous settings?
    Thanks

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  4 роки тому

      Hello. If there was a power outage it is possible that it would need to be reset but that can depend on how long the outage was or some other factors. You can possibly get it connected again by updating the wifi information in the device settings. If the device isn't responding to that you may need to reset it.

    Hi Gary, I tried to download the SW before buying the b-Hive. I would like to know if I can easily go into a manual mode and just switch on - off individual zones. My current Irritrol has a single station manual control mode that I like.

    How i can set up the selenoids separately, i mean when the timer go on to work, all the selnoids open at the same time, and i run 1 wire per valve and a shared common

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  3 роки тому +1

      If you ran 1 wire color to each valve and then tie the wire from each valve to the common all should work independently. Check that you connected the common on the timer to common not “P” that’s pump setting and will turn all on at the same time. Hope that helps, feel free to subscribe if it did.😉

    Can you set more than 2 timers per station?

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  4 роки тому +1

      Alex hi, yes you can’t set multiple start times. If only one station needs to run again you can add that one only to program B and set a second time for just that. One to water.(be sure to also add days in B prog that you want that station to do that. Hope that helps answer your question. Be sure to Subscribe to our Channel if you get a minute.

    Does the external rain sensor work?

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  4 роки тому

      Haven’t tried it with the rain sensor yet. I can say the sensor I use with Hunter timers works really well providing it’s installed on the fence or roof gutter on the side the rain comes from. Hope that helped a little.

    will it work after a power outage? is there a battery backup somewhere?

    • @garyssprinklerrepair
      @garyssprinklerrepair  4 роки тому

      It has non volatile memory good for approx. 8 hrs. unplugged it will remember programming but not be able to actually run the valves. One side note it you have a electrical outlet that’s not grounded and a lot of lighting in your area, I’d pass on this model. I has a non replaceable fuse!

      I don’t speak Spanish, but did have this translated.. make sure station 8 has a run time…
      You can test it by running it manually :
      With dial facing station 8
      And the timer switch in run
      Push the manual button on the bottom right.
      The display should show 8 A- then the time counting down.

      Yes, I’m aware of that issue not everyone has operational 5g yet in some rural areas. This product video was made when 5g was still being tested, about 2 yrs. ago and wasn’t a discounted product.
      Most new timers now are 5g compatible. Thanks for your comment👍
