Nice Job Abby!! Looks like your speed/jet nervousness is pretty well gone now, this is awesome, you chatted the whole way through the flight :-) Great landing!
Honestly the first landing was the best part of the video. No not for entertainment value. It showed the spectacular resiliency of that gear, and the plane's wing and fuselage. Thats the sort of landing that ALL new EDF pilots suffer, and utterly destroy their retractable landing gears, tear off a wing, or break the nose off the fuselage if not all three. You had like 6 NASTY bounces and nothing happened! I pulled the trigger and bought this plane purely for this reason. I own a Marlin and Vulcan and am scared to fly either on my grass strip. This plane looks like it flies incredibly well off grass, and only requires a short runway for both take-off and landings. Thanks Abby!
And to be completely honest with you, I flew this two more times off camera and am not super proud to announce I had about two more landings just like the first one in this video, but also two more smooth landings! 😁 Landing gear still look like they are brand new! Hello RcSaylors. I contacted Horizon Hobby because I didn't know whether to get the STS version or the SS (Super Sport) version of the Habu. Based on the company's response, overall external dimensions of the two versions are the same. The differences are in the internals: the canopy changed slightly and the battery compartment was increased to accommodate the 6S battery (and of course the electronics to allow for greater speed/power).They also added carbon reinforcement on the wings and fuse. In fact, they said that you could put the SS wings on an STS, but they don't recommend doing it the other way around. I needed to know the differences because I want to use this jet as a trainer. With the 4S battery, both versions should perform identically. And when my students are ready for the next level, I will switch to the 6S. The SS version is a great jet because of its different levels of performance--kind of like two jets in one. Keep up the great job of making outstanding videos. PS: I am currently flying the Freewing camouflaged F-4 Phantom (the 8S version). The markings are from General Richie's Oyster 3, and it is the only surviving ace jet from the Vietnam conflict. I would love for you folks to do a review on that one, please...pretty please.
That is a great way of looking at the 6S version! Sort of like two in one 👍 The 4S version can also fly on 3S, though so bear that in mind while considering this as a trainer. It is also offered in RTF format, and for some that can be HUGE! Please consider ordering yours through our link if you do place an order for one and of course, Happy Flying! 😎⚓
“How about you redeem yourself?” How many of us pilots tell ourselves that when we have a dissatisfied landing. Ha-ha I sure do. Way to go Abby on the 6s flight and the second landing.👊
Oh, just about every time! I (Nate) always want to redeem a bad landing if I can and have battery left to do so. Happens almost every time I go out flying! 👍😁😎⚓
well guys yet another awesome video and product dose look very cool and good price too i thought. I here Abby with the people watching can be off putting. But as she said in front of like 100k people with here batons impressive for sure. Go Abby go xx
Quick question I got that plane went for a first flight and trimmed her out after awhile of flying but still seemed to be nose heavy am I mounting the battery wrong? Also is there a different strap you can buy that makes it easier to mount the battery?
This jet comes with an Avian ESC which means you can program reverse thrust to bled off some speed if you have a capable radio which you do lol keep up the good work
There is actually a pretty big difference between them. Habu is WAY more beginner friendly and forgiving, both in the air and on the ground (landings). The flight envelope of the Habu is shaped in a way that will be a lot less likely to tip stalland is a little slower than the Viper, or so it feels that way. The Viper does have flaps whereas the Habu does not, and TBH it would be nice if it did have flaps. Needs to bleed off a lot of speed before touching down. The biggest difference is that landing gear, which we have shown jamming issues with my Viper and Abby demonstrated very well in this video how durable the landing gear of the Habu is 😉👍 Hope this helps! If so and you end up pulling the trigger, please consider ordering yours through our link. Thanks and Happy Flying! 😎😁⚓
Very nice Maiden 👌 Abby. Your skill is good your confidence is growing. Keep on keeping on. Nate you actually did a good job of videoing 😲😲🤭🤭. Your skill grows as well grasshopper 🦗🦗. Nice flying & good looking plane. ⚓⚓👍💜💛💚👍😲🦗🤭👍⚓⚓.
Hey brothers! Great to have you stop by! A very impressive EDF for newcomers to the hobby! However we have not flown ours on 4S yet, only 6S. I imagine it will be much more docile and need a longer runway for taking off. It will likely need to fly near full throttle to stay in the air on 4S, or fly with little to no wind. However I'm sure the CG will be good on 4S, battery up front all the way. We think you will love yours! Happy Flying! 👍😁😎⚓ Edit: Oops! I feel goofy! I was thinking Petrinsic brothers when I first read your name! 🤪 Regardless, the information is still the same 😁⚓
@@TheRcSaylors that statement that it needs to fly near full throttle to stay in the air is oh so wrong. Just watch Brian Phillips review of the habu ss that should help you edit your statements and also show you landings with pilot fatigue and throttle reversing
@@TheRcSaylors We are much younger then the Slovenian brothers (at least one of us, since he is a kid and actually my son...) and we are way more handsome (surely both of us...) and we do not wear uniform parts or hats on you tube (which I find weird to say the least...) Cheers from SWITZERLAND!
Abby, that was really cool that you went up again to redeem yourself from the bumpy maiden landing.👍 Nice job! Ps. Nate, I see a picture of you on page 3 of the November Model Aviation magazine. Are you featured or mentioned in any of the articles? [I look at ads and pictures before I read any articles.]
The best part of having the Habu is you can fly it in 20 mile an hour wind. I got the first habu made. Been flying it in 16-20 mile an hour winds. That sucker cooks when your going with the wind. I can't fly my f-16 falcon or the 70 and 90 vipers. Just wants to tip stall the wings. But the Habu you can defiantly fly it in pretty high winds.
@@TheRcSaylors did they sort out the sticky retracts on the viper 70mm when they released the V2?.. it's the one issue that has prevented me getting it in the past
Sorry to hear about the curveball. Hopefully that gets sorted soon, if not already 😁 I've only had the sticky landing gear issue on my Gen 1 Viper, and very proud to say that thing is still holding up well after about 250 or more flights and counting. Gen 2 shows no signs of landing gear getting stuck, and my 90mm Viper is just the perfect EDF all around. The reason I asked if you had the Viper or not is because I feel like you should just get the Viper if you like this new Habu 6S but want retracts. Seriously, the Viper is the Superior jet. But, this new Habu is like a trainer jet. Those landing gear might be ugly, but they are WAY more durable and forgiving than retracts. Great for someone learning to fly 6S 👍😎⚓
Love my habu, wish they would have added some flaps. My issue with it has always been the high speed it requires to land. It is a great first jet, not first airplane friendly unless you have the landing assist🤷♂️
Yes! You just said it yourself! The Viper has retracts 👍😁 In my opinion (Nate) go Viper or this based on your skill level. We address the landing gear in this video. Non retracts are more robust and durable for the beginner. This is 100% designed to be a persons first 6S EDF 😎⚓
We have no idea! There are quite a few people out there that "stage" their maidens to just look perfect. We love showing the real world situation! Did you happen to catch the explosion on our channel not long ago? 😬🤯⚓
@@TheRcSaylors That is great to read! Those that stage them and twist the words implying that they are the actual maidens are gross. I missed that video, but I will have to scroll back and check it out.
Judging by the direction she starts, she would have a much easier time landing in the same direction. Because if she is starting into the wind, and landing with the wind. Landing with the wind makes it much harder to land, because wind doesnt brake you, and you will have a higher landing speed overall.
Ovonic Batteries are really good. I have 4 of them there S3 2200 for my Apprentice plane. And I just bought 2 4s 4500 for the Habu. Cost 80 bucks Ohh and there 50C discharge rates.
i had the previous version RTF that shut itself off and crashed mid flight after 2min took off. HH did not want to do anything so now i buy all of my planes from MOTION RC.
Can you please provide more detail about your incident? I feel as though it is just a little vague, leaving us wanting a lot more information. How did you go about charging the battery? Everything was working perfect, then it suddenly lost ALL power or just slowly sagged in power? Was it just the motor that lost power and still had power to the servos? All very useful information. And how exactly did Horizon handle the situation? Please, do tell. This is a rather big deal and I'd like to know more. Thank you.
I'm guessing based on the lack of response I'm not sure about this comment? Might be from a Motion employee. They are actually struggling really bad right now. I am calling the next HK sadly.
I’ve had motors gone bad from the horizon hobby and servo malfunction from motion rc, non of offered any help except sending me a link to buy the part. Im pretty sure if you don’t a UA-cam channel or any big platform with audience they don’t care
Now that is awesome! So, think back to your first or second plane that started it all! Wouldn't this have been great to exist then for you? This is designed to help get people in the door. A little snoozy for me and you (Nate) but Abby LOVES this thing and feels very comfortable and happy flying it! And the hobby grows 😁⚓
@@TheRcSaylors My comment was at this version. Not Abby or others excited about it. The original was a fixed gear 70 mm foam jet followed by 32 , sleek fiberglass dream machine. It just be great to see Horizon continue in that direction as well. Support both those who are getting started and who's been here for while.

Have you ever considered a gas plane to play with? I’ve been day dreaming about getting one lately 😎
Love my habu, wish they would have added some flaps. My issue with it has always been the high speed it requires to land. It is a great first jet, not first airplane friendly unless you have the landing assist🤷♂️
Speed test?
Yeah, this would be a great candidate for a speed test! 👍😎⚓
They never do that stuff, sadly
What Gordon?

😉👍😁⚓
a jet with no retracts.... fail.... even the 6S viper has retracts...
But thanks for going to the effort of reviewing this product for us!!
Yes! You just said it yourself! The Viper has retracts 👍😁 In my opinion (Nate) go Viper or this based on your skill level. We address the landing gear in this video. Non retracts are more robust and durable for the beginner. This is 100% designed to be a persons first 6S EDF 😎⚓
Abbey, did you use 4s or 6s?
6s!!!
Did you fly it with Safe on the for whole flight? Thanks.. Enjoying your videos
Great looking jet ,love the colours.Well done Abby on flying, shame about the bouncing bomb impression . Great 👍🏻 price
Absolutely! Hey, I totally redeemed myself on that second landing! 😁⚓
Sorry Abby I apologise !!!!!!
All good! We all have bad landings and sometimes good ones! Proud of that second landing 🤜💥🤛
Bouncy huh? I took the landing gear off and I’m enjoying way more now.
All maidens should be true on channels like this. Why is that special?
I was going to comment but I didn't know what to put here.
👍😁😎⚓
Beautiful jet but those 6s batteries are so expensive!
6S batteries do cost a lot, yeah. There is a reason we only own a few 6S batteries but a handful on 3S ones! Crazy fun though! 👍😁😎⚓
Thank you.
Musk-eteer how do you crash a plane that virtually glides like a glider unless you didn't have the battery hooked up properly or you just ran it dead
JUICY UP GOT ONE IN BOX 📦 FREASH START JUST DELIVERED AUZZIE AUZZIE AUZZIE
Big snooze, Horizon been going backwards with this great jet since 32X. Time to step up with 90 mm.
Do you currently fly RCs? If so, what EDFs do you fly?
@@TheRcSaylors Hi, I have most of all HP 80mm 90mm EDF'S and fly turbines. I still have the original Habu that started it all and 32X.
GREATEST THING IS THAT THE PRICE IS RIGHT ✅ TOO FOLKS
Thank goodness! Prices of things have been getting crazy! We were worried this was going to be like $550 or something. Glad it is not 👍😁😎⚓
That first Landing, (we will not forget) 9-11
