100% Synthetic lubricants produced by Amsoil is really cheap insurance. From my 1956 Chevrolets (All of them) to our daily drivers, Amsoil keeps them properly lubricated, running cool and well protected. Join me, Denny Salvage, as we walk down memory lane in outdoor museums of automotive history. We look for that "Gold Mine" of a parts car or that restorable "Gem in the Rough". In every episode we highlight several such treasures. Occasionally one of these "Gems" comes back to the shop for an upgrade as we "Bring 'Em Back To Life". As sponsors come on board we'll take more 'walkabouts' in salvage yards and bring more gems back to the shop. To support this fun subscribe to my UA-cam channel and see more American steel run and roll again.
I need sponsors! Send notes to Den56.com or my e-mail.
I have a rare 1947 chrysler windsor coupe I'm working on. Cant wait to get her out and cruise.
I have a four door buick special 1966 . I know it's not worth much but having funny fixing it up to drive every day . Everybody wants drive in it when it s done .
Jim Barela then edit out the part with the dumb girl...why was she wearing that awful 70's get up?
You guys inspired me to bring back my 1971 Nova I bought it when I was 15 years old she's on her way back to life because of you
In our city a used car lot owner put a brand new 1952 Dodge 4dr on a 20 foot pole. It is still there to this day, but property has changed hands many times each time a different business.
I know that it's a crazy amount of work and passion that goes into restoring old cars. It takes a very special person to have patience and knowledge to do that. That being said, the Ford Dually that you pull those cars with, is gorgeous also. I love those trucks. Stay safe and God bless. Keep up the good work
Just having a goood time on a LOW budget and providing some wholesome family entertainment. My neighbor is a sponsor of the show and that awesome Ford, powerstroke diesel, dually is HIS! Great neighbor and friend. Chuck Carroll who owns ACDC Industrial Electric in Norwich, CT. (Starting a brand new season in April 2018) Thanks
I have my parents 58 CADILLAC they bought in 1960. I was 1. Lifelong southern California car. Its still very nice, and I'm still driving it. That one they showed kinda broke my heart!!
9:02 That's a Packard. Signature design is the grill. That carried throughout the car front design till the end.
Right on thank you for bringing theses old cars back I've own a old car my whole life and a whole lot of them to
People like you are Hero's to people like me seeing these old beasts given new life
That 4 headlight car at 8-16 is a french RENAULT was a R16 I think, may have been a TS model with uprated engine, that engine was factory fitted to one of the Lotus cars back many years, but the strange thing about this renault is the gearbox was in front of the engine.. but a very quick solid car in its time.
Good To See A Classic Getting Back On The Road, Now With A Nice Torque Wrench Ding On The Roof!!
Not a mark! It's a 57 Chevy. Torque Wrench (Magic wand) was heavier than she thought!
. Especially classics
these guys must be thinking of newer cars because those cars from back then used thick steel they did not use pop can steel like today's cars that's if a car has steel since most is plastic
P
you should have edited that out because everyone hates you fools.
Glad to see that somebody cares about old cars😉
Q
I try to see possibilities from the memories.
I always did like old cars, even in my younger years ! my first car was a 55 dodge coronet and i had a 53 Packard once !
I would love to buy one them and restore it. A true classic.
i'd love to walk into gates(because it looks familiar-you'll see why in a minute),and pull out a quarter and throw it up and slam it on the counter and say "call it"! "i need to know what i stand to win","you stand to win everything,JUST CALL IT!" lol.
Thank you for bringing back the real mobile to life what we have are some cheap worthless cars that dies after some millage this old ones could be fixed with just a tool box
The last segment where you showed a 64 Buick wildcat was actually a 63. My dad had a 62, and a 63 Buick wildcat. Yes the 64 was not much different than the 63 but the big give away was the tail lights. The front end and body styling were almost exact.
I'm not 'all knowing' so I sometimes have to look at my books. They don't always show me pictures of all the models from back and front or from opposite corners so I miss the exact year.
There was a couple interesting pieces in that soggy yard. The rest of the old stuff is either roach or picked clean and should go in the crusher
Awesome viewing Denny, I wish it wasn't raining so hard back in that yard, looked like there was so much more to see there, thanks again, Keep up your good work mate.
She hits the roof with a torque wrench
Wow, I'm British but this video made me nostalgic for America in the 50's...
The car he IDd as the Starsky & Hutch car is not a '74 Ford Gran Torino (Hutch called it the Striped Tomato). The car he saw is a '73 Plymouth Sebring with rally stripes.
Ever tried a visit to Blanchard's auto salvage yard in Wilton NH? Started in the 40s no tree maintenance you can just stare into the trees and one by one trunk emblems or distinct markings catch your eyes it's a wild time for first timers
Wow you had to show a merc, I notice there are lots of small parts like fans and I bet I could find many many things
Times like these that I watch classic car shows and traffic in Cuba compilation
Thank you for creating this video.
just got a 56 Edlo for $100 drove it away .Some fresh gas. new battery .
On Vacation In Hawaii & He Hits A Junkyard!!! My Kinda Guy & That's A Good Woman To Junkyard Crawl In The Rain With You!!
Yep! And we eloped in my 57 Chevy 50 years ago! Thanks for the comment R. Mac
Now I Love that '64 Buick Wildcat styling. What a coool looking car.
that was back then when they made cars. today they just throw them together ! i like to have a 55 t-bird !
dam all those cars are nice imagine the stories🤔👏
I visited the junkyards in Oahu many times, got some good parts, the only problem is that the salt air did a lot of damage to the cars.
Why did the girl trying to sell the car put a dent on the roof with that massive wrench!!! @3:43 ?
Them cars are tough. Am sure there isn't a dent. But still the idea of that tap.
Maybe she needs a good tap...not sure. We can ask her..?
The Torque Wrench (Magic Wand) was heavier than she thought.(0ops) Didn't leave a mark. It's a 57 Chevy!
you think that put a dent in it that from 57 they used better steel back then not the pop can steel today if a car has any steel that is
She made a dent in the roof for sure
I had a 63 ford galaxie that a guy rear ended so i took the bumper off put it on a tree stump and bang'd it straight with a sledge hammer then i hooked chains up to the rear and to my dodge truck and pulled the dents out with the truck!
I live in Hardwick.the gates family and my family have history my grandfather owned and started mallets bay speed shop in colechester. Vermont.which is closed since the 80s.but Jim's father knows my late grand dad
Nothing like Shopping in the rain. Great deals in the rain i always found . Mo compation !
Watching these cars rust away in a field breaks my heart.
Me too. But that yard is all gone now. Jim died and his wife had the portable crusher come and clean up the yard. This is why I produce Bring 'Em Back to Life.
i can imagine you outta those daisy dukes you sweet thang.
12:35 Not a Mopar guy but, I think that Plymouth Barracuda convertible would be worth quite a bit! And there's an early Dodge Charger on it's side in the background.
Glad to see a sedan got restored!! Yay there is hope!! Also only one of those Corvairs is a '61, the convertible started '62 model year and this one is wearing '64 wheel trim! Corvairs are awesome cars!
Thanks Johnny. There are several Corvairs in a yard that I visited. We will be showing them in an episode this season. Very restorative and rust free. A convertible too!
Horrible failure, the corviar. Lost money every year of production excellent concept, though...air cooled to compete with VW.
Gm anticipated there would be a surge in air cooled technology and they wanted to be on board from the start. No such luck.
Thommy Two Toes Times Three Technically 1.8 million units sold isn't really a failure. I've logged over 100k plus miles in my Corvairs and am proud to own several.
Gm also built a rear engine Van...in the corvair line. I love these cars...Corvairs. Purely from an engineering standpoint. Unique, innovative, bold and risky maneuver, much like Mopar...with their slant six...radical designs.
Pure ART...Corvair and Mopar.
Thommy Two Toes Times Three yup one of my Corvairs is the truck a 1962 Rampside! Coolest truck made!
My grandfather races Hudson's at catamount speed way and held state championship from 1960 to 1965
When I first saw this I thought it was Canadian and then to here your in Vermont close to the canadian Boarder and now I see why I thought you were in Canada
The custom car should be salvage in total somebody did great work on it and would be a shame if it was picked over and sold as parts
This kills me..... it’s like a puppy in the window.... want but can’t have it
Yeah, I've got 3, soon to be 4 old cudas. They're getting hard too find ! And 2 scouts. Same problem !! For the life of me, I can't find a bed, and rear fenders for my 46 chevy pickup though !!!!
67 cuda CUDAS ALL DAY international scouts all day here in INDIANA i know a guy that has over 700 mopars 60-75 and 200 international scouts or international trucks 70s
It's like christmas morning to walk those yards for me !! I passed on the bug to my youngest daughter too. I gave her a survivor 66 dodge coronet 440 when she was 8. She had her pick, which bounced from a 69 beetle and it. 64-69 cudas are rare in mid Missouri, but you see them at shows once in a while. An a-body cuda/scout guy is rare too ! The weirdos of the car world I guess, lol ??
67 cuda dude were do you live ... in indiana we have them all day long i mean over a bundent of stuff this guy that owens it ant stupid he's responsible and knowes what there worth
About 20 miles from Jefferson city. Yeah, they'll be next to get outrageous in price, if they aren't already !? The favorite of mine only has 53,000 miles on it. No accidents, bought new by a doctor in Minneapolis. It's a 67 formula S, fastback, black interior, bright red, with dealer painted black triple center sports stripes, 4-speed. It was a 273, but motor's gone for some reason ? I have a 67 383, and a 71 360 to choose from now. It's unmolested other than the motor though. Needs complete resto. I'm thinking old school, 70's simple mods. Bias wide 60's.mag rims, lakeside pipes, not the ghetto cruisers you always see now ! No serious changes, or mods. Stuff I would have done 40 years ago. Otherwise stock.
I'm down to 10 old vehicles all together on 4 wheels.
I can't believe that girl gave a hard tap on the roof of that Chevy, with a torque wrench... lol
Hat's off to you, big fan.
My tears came after watching all this dead cars
Technically, the Barracuda convertible is third Generation (67-69) so not really "early." That was the last of the A-Body Barracuda's before Mopar switched to the E Bodies, 1970 to 1974.
I would love the 57 Chevy belair. A real built car.
A place in Indiana on route 36 has a bunch of rusty old cars
There are looks of good stuff to make a great custom or bring it back to life some are to far gone
Hotrod Johnny !!
I love the song entro.
Studebakers ?
Nice lines. Classic shape and the cars not bad either.
Cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks. I try to provide entertainment and 'memory candy'.
The raw materials to make them came from the earth, and to the earth they shall return.
Did she light up on her own? Would like to see her getting started
Yes! The 57 Chevy started and runs. It is now a registered, insured classic in my collection.
was that buick a hearse or just a wagon?cool as hell either way.damn, john talks like tony soprano.
He has a few rare cars in that yard. I want the 59 2-door sedan buick
I know what you mean RB. Make his yard a vacation destination and bring a trailer. Make sure you call first from the information I provide in the episode. Some yards I have covered have closed and crushers brought in! That's what I try to avoid.
@@TheJunkyardChaplain i have seen my fair share of (fairy rare) cars crushed. It's sad to say that I'm only 30 too. I have a friend who owns a scrap yard and i have saved several, but nothing really sought after. I hate seeing history destroyed. I have several 1959 buicks 2-door hardtops. Those are fairly rare to find! For Buick, 1959 was the end of that era and majority of the parts are not reproduced. Some things interchange, but not much. I truly appreciate you sharing and hopefully you will keep sharing.
Vermont is litterd with cars from the early teens to the late 50s if you know where to go
14:00 That's a NICE 56 convertible!!
Hello Denny Salvage I'm interested into that 1959 buick at 11:53 Is it still there
Jim died and all the old stuff at Gates was crushed. It's ALL GONE.
Thanks, Jim eh?
Only yr Valient Barracuda was was 64 1/2 . i have 2
40/41 Caddy rag top parts ?
cuda conv is VERY FEW VERY rare, not many made .. The V8 was the oil filter slanted back or straight down ??
dig that thing out and restore it
Ill take her in the back seat of that 57 and have her hold my wrench
The girl selling the car sure reminds me of the 'suthrn girl' site that sold cars on ebay several years ago. She was close but not exact
Save them don't crush them!
How about a 1978 Delta 88 to door oldsmobile would you happen to have one of those let me know
Thats a Good ol Come along . cant find those anumore
That is a very wet day
1.000s of 63 La Mans rag tops
Jeepster !
Just a question. Can you still get parts and panels for a 57 Chevy or are they repro parts made in the modern era. Thanks
Michael Naisbitt. Parts n.o.s. are available but only a few such as hubcaps and trim...otherwise used or repro are readily available. Many are of very good quality and better than original.
Thommy Two Toes Times Three is basically on the money. N.O.S. means the parts were made for GM within a few years after assembly of the vehicles. In the case of the most popular used car ever, the 57 Chevy, the dealers sold out of N.O.S. parts long ago. Some repro parts are very good now as competition for sales is stiff and buyers have the internet to tell all!.
Denny Salvage Thank you for the info
oh yeah you can get 55 to 57 repo panels easy they make lots for the old chevys
Hi guys love ya work! Do you ever find old Japanese cars? Mazda rotarys... toyota datsun....
looks like ya all like tri 5 chevys . come to dry Rust free call. got 60 of them . got a few canadain ones too Yoman
11:54 1959 Buick!
He said there for sale you can probably buy it if you want
If only it was closer....North Dakota here.
hermosas esas canciones country
I took pictures of every car at Gates Auto Salvage in 2016 - on my website travelsinacab.com . As of July 2018 - all the vintage stuff has been crushed. All gone - quite sad.
You only get out when it's raining?
Has happened twice so far! I usually only get one chance on one day to get into the yards while I'm traveling. Until I get sponsors to pay for my salvage yard 'walkabouts' that's the way it will be.
TELL JIM HE CAN MAKE A LOTTA MONEY SELLING SHREDDED TIRES FOR NON-SKID SURFACES ON BOATS!
Wait is that old car USA ?!
Belo vídeo parabéns 👍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏👏👏👏😄
I feel weird now.

No new videos lately? Where have you been?
How is your health?
Cheers
You REALLY need to take a trip to the southwest ......you'd never touch that rusty crap again ....however the 56 convertible is a killer find no matter where you get it
Distance between Lancaster New Hampshire and Hardwick Vermont
Jim died. This yard is gone to the crusher.

Most of the 4 doors will sit till they rot.
Do you know of any body that restores or polishes stainless steel?
I wanted to see the 59 Chevy Impala
Too many to see them all! It will be a great vacation location. Call Michael for a price and bring a trailer. Wishek is also known for the German style sausage so bring an appetite!
