I’d love to see a lot of these scrapped projects get resurrected for the 2020’s and beyond!
I’d love to see a lot of these cancelled DreamWorks animation projects get un-cancelled and resurrected for the 2020’s and beyond!
- B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations
- Monkeys of Mumbai (a fully-realized movie for the 2020’s)
- Larrikins (a fully realized movie for the 2020’s)
- Spooky Jack (a PG-rated horror comedy)
- Matinence (based on the comics)
- Truckers (an adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s gnome trilogy)
- Gil’s All Fright Diner
- Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians
- Interworld
- Grumblewicks
- Punk Farm
- The Wanderer (perfect for a CGI animated movie in the 2020’s)
- Tusker (a perfect movie for the 2020’s)
- Lidsville
Plants Vs. Zombies
DreamWorks can still revive _Larrikins._
Maybe you could mention Beebylon in a video
_Larakins, Monkeys of Mumbai, B.O.O.,_ and _Me and My Shadow_ all had such unique and interesting premises. It's a shame we'll probably never see them. _Larakins_ sounded especially interesting. Apparently, it would have contained political commentary about immigrant relations and xenophobia, with Australia's many invasive species representing illegal immigrants.
I would like to see those too
I guess we know why Dreamworks scraped it.
@@jamesheatherly4209 Actually, the only reason they didn't go through with it, is because they were bought by Universial. I imagine it would have introduced the subject to kids and handled it respectfully, like _Zootopia_ but as a musical.
Sign the petition to get production going again.
They should start on those projects!
What angers me is studios tossing away good movies and we end with something stupid instead . They traded Popeye for The Emoji Movie . People hated it .
The emoji movie was not the reason why popeye was cancelled
@@silashurd3597though it may as well have been collateral damage for film production
@@pyrusmew5 maybe, but either way, while hearing about cancelled projects does disappoint me, I never get hostile towards the studio like other people seem to do. There could be a good reason yet sometimes we just don’t know and it honestly makes me more grateful for what we do end up having, since there are many things I bet could’ve easily been cancelled but managed to come to life. And sometimes, cancelled movies do end up being revived and brought to the world. So sometimes you can have your fingers crossed 🤞🏽 😉
Also I heard that they’re likely gonna bring Popeye back so there’s that
@@silashurd3597 well Nimona was revived on Netflix, so you’re not wrong there
Lies again? UFC Prelims
I really wished Me and My Shadow got made. I hope one day it’ll get revived, seriously if it never got cancelled it would be even better than Boss Baby.
Edit: Also it’s nice to see Me and My Shadow finally get recognition nowadays.
I want Me and My Shadow and B.O.O so bad!
I NEED ME AND MY SHADOW TO BE BROUGHT BACK THEY HAVE SO MUCH POTENTIAL
@@peachblossom09 If Netflix can revive Nimona for Blue Sky then maybe they could do the same for Dreamworks.
@@enderethan144 everyday for now I pray for this movie to get revived like Nimona
What I was more annoyed of is the fact they abandoned the Sinbad sequels. I found out Dreamworks were planning to make more, but never went forward.
As much as I loved Sinbad and would like to hear the possible plots for a sequel(s), it just didn’t cut it for the box office. The film lost 125 million dollars for DreamWorks. I believe this film actually almost made DreamWorks go Bankrupt.
That is so annoying they could have written more adventures for the Sinbad movies, create new characters or maybe even flesh out some of the older ones (I wanna see what will happen to Proteus, if you know you know)
Man, I would have LOVED a Rise of the Guardians sequel! Admittedly the plot might be tough to figure out given how good of an antagonist Pitch Black was, but I still would have loved to get one
I want them to create sequel
Same here!😞
there are sequel books, right?
The way the story was structured and presented, you could tell they were hoping to make a series out of it.
Let’s pray to God they would cause the dragons and the nine realms suck
Larrikins, Alma, Me and my shadow, Monkeys of Mumbai and Spooky Jack (along with other cancelled Dreamworks movies) were my most anticipated movies in those years they were announced; it is a great shame that they have been cancelled.😭😭😭😭😭
Watch mojo: “Before going all in on CG, dreamWorks produced three theatrical, traditionally, drawn features. The Prince of Egypt, the road to El Dorado, and Sinbad.”
Spirit: stallion of the Cimarron: “hey! You forgot me!“
Wasn't there one based on Old Testament Joseph as well.
Edit: I looked it up and while it does exist, it was direct to video.
I just mentioned that too! So thank you! XD
It’s my favorite DreamWorks movie so how dare they forget! XD😂😅
In the 2010s, several films were announced to be made that were to be released in the next 3-4 years following their announcements. Some of these films were eventually cancelled while others are claimed to be in development and waiting for a release. Most of these films were cancelled due to massive layoffs, creative differences, management changes, no updates on the features, and Comcast eventually buying DreamWorks in 2016.
Correction: Dreamworks actually had four Hand drawn films . Spirit was released in between Road to El Durado and Sinbad.
Correction to your correction: Dreamworks fans don’t count Spirit as a “REAL” Dreamworks movie because Pixar helped make some of the animation.
@@illuminatipoodle4517 never knew that at all ( care to explain the story )
@@rjcorreia3788 I was joking. And no I am not a comedian. I was actually confused with the Dreamworks film that they cancelled. Sorry, also if you reply back with a snarky comment you are a BOT
@@illuminatipoodle4517 wasn't trying to be snarky bro I was just interested
I’m STILL mad about Me and My Shadow! That movie had such potential!
Larrikins, B.O.O. and Me and My Shadow can be revived.
It figures that even DreamWorks had it's share of cancelled project that sadly never saw the light of day. but that's pretty much how every animation company is because you know you can't expect every film they come up with to make the cut.
Not really, Disney animation for example for past decade has just King of Elves and some project about a space race. Before that in 00s some movie about finding Mickey Mouse, Aida and Lady and the Lake was cancelled. So a lot less than Dreamworks. With Pixar I just know Newt.
Now of course all animation studios and other studios have people pitching their ideas and projects that are considered but not greenlighted and even ones that are but get very early cancellations.
But here you notice several projects where release dates were announced like B.O.O, projects where music was completed and/or there was some animation done like Larrikins, Me and My Shadow and Mumbai musical and the sheer volume of what we know was cancelled. They did cancel lots of these films very late and with others they had the issue of announcing them. They also have a trend of wanting every movie to start a franchise and continue them until they can’t anymore. Which is why movies like Legend of Guardians got a sequel announced and Madagascar 4 snd Shrek 5 have been scheduled but keep getting moved for at least a decade.
Dreamworks has had a lot of management changes which is why projects from last management have been cancelled. Also they haven’t really been doing that well outside of few franchises for a while (compared to what they did prior) and have been scrambling a bit to find what works. Maybe new Puss in Boots is them turning corner however.
Let's all hope one day we get to see these canceled projects get revived.🙏🏾
I hope so, too!
Especially Me and My Shadow. That movie had so much potential.
Don't worry mates I'm sure They'll Bring back the larrikins To 2024 i-I just hoped that they will
Particularly _Larrikins._
Or at least 1 of them
1:14 If nothing else, I would've loved to see a couple sequels to that one.
Which one?
@@jcj268 Rise of the Guardians; seriously, they have an entire book series that has so much potential it practically screams sequel.
Some reason I think these movies got canceled.
Larakins: Universal most likely wanted Dreamworks to stay away from political comentary (I know there was Shera and Kipo, but those were coproduced by Netflix) and Universal felt that it would be best for Dreamworks to stay away from it.
Spooky Jack: I think Universal felt that it was too scary for a Dreamworks film.
Spooky Jack was also supposed to be produced by Blumhouse Productions which would have been their first animated film
I think it’s really good that Universal cares about not wanting DW to be political, because look at Disney nowadays which is very political and people are leaving, so Universal basically saved DW from that
Larrikins was cancelled to lower DreamWorks' debt ceiling. Simple as that.
@@silashurd3597 If you think Universal cares at all about being "political", you're kidding yourself.
@@akinschalkwyk8998 I take it all back!!! Even if it did have some sort of political message or so, I’d still see it!! Universal can inject me with all the politics!! I NEED IT!!!!!!!😭😓
Thank you for pointing out how much Dreamworks keeps cancelling their movies! It’s partially do to new management cancelling past projects but they should be more cautious in announcing new thing with their record.
I’d love to see a lot of these cancelled DreamWorks animation projects get un-cancelled and resurrected for the 2020’s and beyond!

@yourlocalFrostingfan Or both!
me and my shadow .. road to el dorado ii … rise of the guardians… *sighs* brb while I go cry
Tbh
If the Alma movie was to reveal if that little girl and those other kids from the short were to escape
I would be all for seeing the movie
I’d definitely love to see Disney adapt more comic books into animated movies as well as adapt video games into animated movies as well! There’s plenty of video games for Disney to adapt into animated movies with stories and elements taken from the games! There’s so much potential for animated movie adaptations of video games!
- Prince of Persia (a good animated movie based on the Prince of Persia video games)
- Okami
- a Kingdom Hearts movie franchise (as a partnership with Square Enix)
- any video game for Disney to adapt into an animated movie
Larrikins is one of the best looking animations. They need to bring it back
Mark Dindal was also the director of Cats Don't Dance and Chicken Little (ugh) and I've heard he is currently working on an animated feature of Garfield that will come out next year, so it's nice to see him coming back to do movies again.
I wish dreamworks will give these movies another chance someday
I would want to see Larrikins, B.O.O, Tusker, Inter world, Me and my shadow and Zodiac
I would've *loved* to have seen a "Rise of the Guardians" sequel, "Rumblewick", "Alma", "Larrikins", "Monkeys of Mumbai", "B.O.O.", and "Me and My Shadow".
I Want the sequel to Monsters vs Aliens revived
It sad will never see this or other canceled Dreamworks projects come to light. They had just a lot more creativity and original ideas than Disney or Pixar did. What’s worse that despite making about 35 movies, the ones are widely known is Shrek, Dragons, Kung fu panda, Trolls, and Madagascar. I’m hope they bring back me and my shadow. That one is the most interesting.
I wonder of Larrakins can be revived by another studio like Vivo was?
I thought it was
Tim Minchin says the new corporate overlords ensured it could never be revived by requiring that anyone who wants to pick it up also pay to use the proprietary animation software. That, plus DW demanding a cut of any profits since they had already spent like $75 million on it when the plug was pulled, would make it totally unviable. Minchin confronted the suits at the time, and says he was told it was to ensure they wouldn’t be embarrassed by another studio releasing it if it turned out to be a hit. He says they called it “schmuck insurance”.
Then he moved back to Australia and one gets the feeling he won’t be touring in America any time soon. 😔
They’d better not. It has to be DreamWorks and DreamWorks only.
@@cameronmcewen9666 Vivo was supposed to be dreamworks and Sony picked it up. That turned out well
@@systemshocker2875 Where did it say _Vivo_ was a DreamWorks movie?
I would love to see an adaptation of Brandon Sanderson's "Alcatraz vs" books. They are so cleverly written and are so much fun!
Remember that DreamWorks could've made the book of life but they didn't and it went the 20th century fox
At least Guillermo Del Toro and Jorge R. Gutierrez collaborated and still managed to make the project happen. Now, we need a sequel to the Book of Life.
6:09
I love how MsMojo completely forgot to mention Spirit here
I’m so glad that The Croods: A New Age was revived by DreamWorks after initially canceling it in 2017 it’s gone on to be my favorite animated film of all time and my favorite DreamWorks film
I have an update. What if DreamWorks consented to release "B.O.O. Bureau of Otherwordly Operations" in October 2015 for Halloween season?
Ian Robert Scott Laidlaw
YOU ALSO FORGET ABOUT
Vivo (before it became a Sont Animated film) and the Book of Life!
Just like Walt Disney Animation Studios, we should start a petition for DreamWorks Animation to return Traditional animation💰✍
I remember when "B.O.O." was announced via Wikipedia, but I didn't know it was cancelled. I really would have loved to see this movie!
And what if DreamWorks did an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Chu the Panda"? What if the story evolved into a love story between Chu and the merpanda from his third book? I think "Chu's Day At The Beach" is the best. I really would like to see -- or SEA -- a sneezing merpanda.
Ian Robert Scott Laidlaw
Ack! The short "Alma" was so disturbing, I don't know how a feature-length version would have worked.
I’d love to see DreamWorks Animation adapt these books into animated movies, in which the adaptations wouldn’t be scrapped and would be planned for the 2020’s and beyond!
- Punk Farm
- Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians
- Gil’s All Fright Diner
- Truckers
- The Pig Scrolls
- Flawed Dogs
- The Adventures of Beekle The Unimaginary Friend
- Grumblewicks
I would love to see them adapted into movies. If the Wild Robot managed to be adapted into an animated movie, then why not Gil’s All Fright Diner or even ANY of these movies in general??
Btw, Me and my Shadow looked like an interesting idea for Dreamworks to go back into their early old-school 2D animation era. For real, I miss when they experimented with 2D animation.
I do wish there was a sequel for The Road to El Dorado, and Rise of the Guardians
The sequels and all these lost films.. we were robbed.. so robbed 💔
You know Hollywood. They like ta FUCK people over!!!!!
(I invoke my right to freedom of speech)!!!
I would've love to see "Me & My shadow" that would've been cool. Happy thursday Ms Mojo and take care, God bless You and see You soon for more, greetings from Colombia.
Its sad that some of these films didn't get made, its even sadder when things like "boss baby" made the cut.
I honestly wonder if Monkeys Of Mumbai was a Kung Fu Panda spin-off.
With the success of the bad guys and puss in boots; the last wish any indication, of potentially more films that show us a stylistic approach to animation then I think that 2d/3d animation blending are not entirely dead. I think that the ideas for the Sinbad film or the road to El dorado weren't bad they were just place at the wrong time since around that time period most films were doing cg styling. Hopefully things will be bright for DreamWorks's future
I remembered hearing about B.O.O.
I really wanted to see Me and my Shadow, Spooky Jack, B. O. O, and Imaginary Enemies
Same
most of those projects were cancelled because Jeffrey Katzenberg greed of released 3-4 films each year before the Box office disappointed of Rise of the Guardians, Turbo, and Mr. Peabody and Sherman
I would’ve loved to have seen the Lidsville movie from DreamWorks with songs by Alan Menken and Glen Slater and it would’ve been awesome to see them work on a DreamWorks film after working for Disney multiple times
Barry sonnenfield directing an animated film now that’s something I’d love to see along with sequels to eldorado and rise of the guardians
These movies sound really good. I hope they get to see the light of day eventually!
People need to stop saying “Spooky Jack” is cancelled. It’s not cancelled. It’s just probably in production hell. It’ll probably get announced this year that “Spooky Jack” is still happening. It just won’t have a release date yet. If you don’t believe me, look at the “Minecraft” movie. Everyone assume that was cancelled when it got pulled from its 2022 release date. And yet in 2022, it was announced that it was still happening. If it was cancelled, it would’ve been announced by Jason Blum himself back in 2021.
I feel soooo sad we never got these movies, but hey we should be grateful that the movies we got the past years where BANGERS
Yeah well, we COULD'VE gotten even MORE!!!
B.O.O. and Me and My Shadow were the ones I was most looking forward to. Really hope they happen someday.
I want to see Madagascar 4, Shrek 5, the wanderer, the larrikins, the monkeys of Mumbai, rockumentary, tusker, and me and my shadow get rewritten or taken over by someone else.
If I made a studio, I'll made original ips, based on books, and moastly revive cancelled projects from Major studios
Ialways wanted to see larikins and dance with its music and enjoy the movie its a shame it never got made
So much potential for these projects to be resurrected!
And they should be.
Now that Universal has Peacock, they could put these projects on the streaming service instead.
10:51 there’s another cancelled African elephant centric movie known as The Legend of Tembo.
I’m surprised they didn’t mention the plants vs zombies movie
The Shrek 5 project was dropped. No wonder it never came.
For me, B.O.O., Me and My Shadow and Spooky Jack.
Lidsville! From the composer of the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.
12:26 _Katzenberg…_ I should’ve known. 🙄
You forgot the recent DreamWorks cancellation of the movie title "Ruby Gilman: Teenage Kracken aka Meet The gilmans"
I really hate Jeffrey Katzenberg, he’s not a good animation executive! He said hand drawn animation was obsolete when Spirit and Sinbad bombed! Also B.O.O. was cancelled because they didn’t want to be ripping off Monsters Inc, it was similar to Pixar cancelling Newt which was similar to Blue Sky’s Rio!
@yourlocalFrostingfan there was lots of changes with the story, and the animators didn’t want to start over with new scenes. Their animation studio in San Francisco also closed down during that time.
I would've loved to see Flawed Dogs, The Wanderer, and Larrikins!
There is a petition to bring Larrikins back.
“Me and My shadow”
If this gets revived than It would be a Horror movie.
Spooky Jack would be the hypest movie for me
I would love to see larrikins because it would be set in Australia
The place where I’m from
Now we can only imagine how effing brilliant a soundtrack by Tim Minchin (with an assist from Hans Zimmer) would have been. And having seen both the Matilda and Groundhog Day musicals, I can confidently say it would have been EFFING BRILLIANT
(Also, I’m moving to Australia this year so g’day!)
@@allisonbergh4429 and a g'day to you mate
DreamWorks could always adapt Freakazoid(Dexter Douglas),Captain Planet,Savage Dragon(Comic),Hot Stuff the little Devil,Holli Would(Cool World )movie,Cerebus(Comic) movie and Little Angel movie!
The Larrikins
If DreamWorks really is going to beat Disney, THEY NEED TO BRING BACK THESE PROJECTS! Some of em woulda killed in the box office.
I can't tell you how bummed I am that the Road to El Dorado franchise never became a thing
I hope Shrek 5 never happens because Shrek Forever After makes a good finale to the Shrek franchise
Judging from the ending of Puss N Boots: Last wish, there keeping the option open.
Hopefully with them under Universal they get a 2nd chance instead of being in limbo
I think that the Movies should be brought back from the Dead are Me and my Shadow and B.O.O. Bureau of Otherworldly Operations.
That sucks that DreamWorks aren’t considering a sequel for Rise of the Guardians. Despite the Box Office the movie is still good with audience and the sequel could make more money for them.
Wasn’t a second Megamind and Monsters vs Aliens suppost to happen?
Megamind is a getting a animated series
Megamind's Guide to Defending Your City coming soon to Peacock
Monsters vs. Aliens got a series, but it did not last. A sequel would've been fun to see, might've got to see more monsters based on classic monster movies.
@@dreamguardian8320 so far Dreamworks next film schedule for Summer 2023 is Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kracken a project directed by SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS SHOWRUNNER/DIRECTOR/WRITER Paul Tibbitt WITH a scrity written by South Park and Team America co writer Pam Brady

is it just me or is rise of the guardians extremely underrated
Rise of the guardians is one of those non sequel films that definitely have the most potential for a sequel Me and my shadow sounds interesting and so does Imaginary friends I do like live action/animated hybrids wonder if that where that Boss baby episode got the idea with the whole rebel imaginary friend thing
WOW this studio has so many cancelled projects
The fact that they were going to make a Rise of the Guardians sequel, and didn't go forward with it is ABSOLUTE ANARCHY 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I would have liked to see Crood Awakening!
The InterWorld movie sounds very interesting.
Kid Danger: *wearing his big trucker pup outfit* i would love to see Strek 5. *frowns*
Shrek 5 is actually happening guys!
I think B.O.O is supposed to be pronounced "boo", kind of a clever way making the sound a ghost makes into an acronym
I hope that Me and my Shadow hets brought back it looks SO charming and amazing! And they deadass have so many big names there: Bill Hader, Josh Gad, Kate Hudson, Tom Hiddleson?!
AND THE FRIGGIN OWL CITY AS THE MUSIC COMPOSER
DREAMWORKS WHY WOULD YOU TOSS THIS MASTERPIECE
Fr 😢
Larrikins I want it to be resurrected
Plants vs. Zombies: Am I a joke to you?
How about Top 10 Cancelled Warner Bros Projects?
The one DreamWorks movie i want to be resurrected would be Me and my Shadow.
For my opinion the worst series that shouldn't be developing by DreamWorks and Universal Entertainment is Camp Cretaceous, because that are people who aren't fan and doesn't like the series, the most terrible scenes they saw was Sammy and Yasmina relationship's. Then the rotten of tomatos and audience score from seasons 1, 2 and 3 could be had bad quality.
🌵 "Plants vs Zombies" 💀
I wish Me and My Shadow got made. If Dreamworks doesn't make the film some other company should. As with other scrapped films that haven't gotten a chance.
Thanks to anyone who reads this.
I wonder what would've happened had some of these movies gone through?
I would like to have a sequel of The road to el durado to some day be revived.
Well Chicken Run did get a sequel, it was for Netflix.
