You have a gift for teaching: passion, competence, good mood and also a beautiful presence. My wife yesterday asked me: "Is he a percussionist or the Prince Charming?"
thanks Michael I have just started to learn timbal and your suggestions are very helpful. I purchased a 14X90 wooden Timbra and just love the sounds it produces. you are very generous with your time and can communicate exactly what one needs to know in order to be successful.
Thank you very much, George! Timbra is a very good brand and I hope that you will enjoy your timbal. I wish you good luck with the rhythms and techniques!
Michael, if my timba with a very thin head has a really "pingy" open tone, do you think I could I possibly get a more "buttery" open tone with a thicker head?
@@MichaeldeMiranda Is there any particular brand/model of timba head you could recommend as having a good thickness? Or if not that, what do you think is a good thickness measurement?

Thicker is better and you have to tune it really high....

TooOldFor Well, I like the skins from Timbra and from Contemporanea, but I don’t know how thick they are. They have a dry sound.
