I agree with Taldanmus that you have the finest and clearest drum instructions ever posted. Thanks so much for sharing.
Nice to meet you here, Sergio! Thanks for the compliment!
Superb post Michael de Miranda ! The last pattern was heavily used in Hindi Movies in India, especially in 1970's, when they were shooting sequences of a train particularly driven by a steam engine. I used to play bass at backing by starting V then III then root note the I (for melody in G major, it is D-B-G) In cases, where chord structure was having frequent transits of minors coming it, I used to play basically VIII, V & I, because the III bears the signature of chord being major or minor.
Hi my name is Sergio and i´m living in Argentina...About the "Pelo" thing, i really understood that when i met "Pacote do Pelo" in a worshop...by the way, great lesson!!!!!
Well, thank you for your compliments! I'll keep posting more video's and hopefully you will enjoy them!
these are some of the finest drum instruction videos I've eve seen; so clear and well explained.
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks and of course I'll making new lessons. It is nice to try something different for a change!
HI, greetings from Great Northern, Finland.
You make those difficult rhytms so easy to understand and along with that understanding, to learn. I found your youtube channel today and after wathcing some 5 videos from your gallery I recognise they all have same easy-to-handle level. You make things very easy to understand with those enough-slow-frequency examples. Thanks for those videos. I'm propably going to use them to make my musical horizon wider by learning new exotic rhytms. Thumbs up!
Thank you very much! I've been in Bahia and I like your country very much!!
I'm glad you like the video! Greetings from Rotterdam.
Thank you very much! I hope I'll visit your beautiful country soon!!
aprendi muito com você congratuletions you best
Thank you very much. I'll continue making new video's.
god bless Michael! fantastic explanations
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you! I have to look for this rhythm too, because I don't know it. When I find it I'll make a lesson about it.
Thank you!!
Gracias, muy buena la explicacion y el patron escrito.
*_Thank you!_* I was getting bored with my djembe playing so decided to branch out before I got turned off / bummed out.
*_Timbau!_*
Djembe and Timbau have the same technique, so I am glad you can find some new rhythms. Enjoy it!
@@MichaeldeMiranda Hello! Oh I do indeed. Not just finding the new tone/timbre, but being introduced to this library of new patterns.
BTW FWIW I've rather addicted myself to going *_always_** L R L R L R* ... not sure just why I convinced myself of this dogma ;-)
cheers!
Beautiful ! thanx for sharing your insight and knowledge
Thank you very much! Have fun with the video's!
Muito bom, parabéns. Fernando Brasil. Florianópolis-SC Brasil.
thank you very much for this video!
Thanks! I don't know if there is a video with the surd parts. Perhaps I'll make a video about it. Next year I will visit Timbalada and I will share the information with everybody!
Greetings from Chile!
I like so much the TIMBAU.
Good lecture! =)
Muchas gracias!
A TIMBALADA TÁ DE BANDA! (TÁ DE BANDINHA!). Haha. Great skills, my man! Cheers from Bahia! Muito axé!
Anyone interested in samba-reggae, check out Olodum too. They're the greatest!
Good work Mr. de Miranda!
Thank you!!
muito bom, nota 10
yeah Michael!! nice work!! very helpful!! greetings from Barcelona!
@shogunemperor I don't what pattern you mean. Most of the caixa patterns are played with the rumbaclave accents in this video except of the rhythm of Timbalada. Perhaps you can say at what time in the video the pattern of the caixa is played, then I can give a better answer.
@shogunemperor Yes, in this part the caixa is playing the rhythm with the rumba clave accents.
Your bands looks great! Nice rhythm! Of course there are many ways of playing the caixa in samba-reggae. In Bahia they use a lot of different patterns. Good luck with it!
hello Michael Thanks very much for your video's -I'm a bit too shy to post you vids of how i use them :-) but they are really helpful to me and the rest of our bateria
Hi Paulo, nice to meet you. Thanks for your explanation, now I understand it! And also thank you for offering your help. A lot of people are sending me messages and ask for more lessons about the timbau. I know more different patterns, but I don't have much background information. Perhaps you can help me with that?
Your welcome! I am happy to hear you can use my video's. Perhaps one day you'll post a video with you and your bateria. I'm always curious!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
:-)
another excellent video
Thanks! Perhaps I'll do a lesson about Olodum too!
Thanks for your videos Michael, I knew most of the Rhythms you play here, but they are very helpful to share among the other components of my band, Bitxo do Samba. By the way, I´m travelling to Brasil this month, could you recommend me somewhere in Salvador de Bahia to learn Timbau and Samba-Reggae? Thanks a lot again! Juan
Niiiice!
Hi Michael! Thank you so much for your awesome tutorials. Is there any chance you could post a tutorial on the "colheita" rhythm, please???? I can't can't find one anywhere!
I love the Timbalada pattern!
Michael, is there video showing the SURDO parts of the Timbalada rhythms?
Hi Shirley, I don't have the written music posted, but if you want I can send you these timbau rhythms. Just send me a mail and I'll answer.
good job Mestre! great explanations 👍
i'm percussionist from Palermo Italy and i grow up like musician in Pelorinho long time ago with Mestre Prego ( banda escola meninos do Pelo' ) and your patterns pushed me back in time 👍
for a while i played in London but i don't have my timbaul so for emergency i bought a pair of LP pro bongos and i play cuban patterns using timbalada & Pelo' levadas in a couple of latin bands and the sound was great better than classic martillo one.
the loud remember Bragada' bahia band groove.
do you have frevo & galope patterns for the timbaul??
