they actually got rid of the female Israeli characters bio from the comics, she's now simply a former black widow who happens to be Israeli. Maybe not even a mention of that lol.
The Winter Soldier deserved the mantle long before Falcon, especially since Bucky's reputation was already in turmoil within the superhero community. Civil War was Falcon's peak in terms of gear & character dynamics, and the TV show retroactively backpedaled to deliver some pointless drivel about "doing better." I don't expect this film to do well because we never needed a fourth film.
The only Mantle Swap that I can get behind is in situations like Nightwing (Dick Grayson) taking over as Batman when he's either indisposed or passed away. This way the legend of Batman lives on and Bruce Wayne's secret Identity stays intact. But the other hero's would know and you could do some interesting things with their reactions. Granted, this is only possible for certain heroes. Superman would only go down to a world-ending threat and that'd be world news, while other heroes may not even have a secret identity. In that case, it's best for the characters to honor their memory without nabbing the title. Also "the character needs to look like me so I can relate to them" is such horse shit, I'm white and I loved Static Shock growing up. Hell, I'm a guy and I loved Kim Possible. I swear the people who support the mantra of needing a character to look like them is really just proclaiming that they have no empathy.
The difference with Nightwing, Red Hood and characters like that is they become THEIR OWN HEROES. They have their own thing that they do and evolve from that just like Falcon did
If you think that a character doesn't need to look like you to relate to them, then why are so many white people, including you, complaining about Captain America not looking like them anymore?🤔
If people dont care about a character looking like you in order to relate to them, then why are so many white people, including you, complaining about sam wilson not looking like them anymore?🤔
the problem isn’t just that Sam is cap, it’s that Mackie hasn’t been good as Cap. He used to be funny as falcon. But he’s no longer funny, and he’s just boring now. Like they felt he had to be more serious now that he’s cap. I was never a fan of him being cap, but more so because I thought that in the mcu version of those characters, Bucky just fit better. His character had been through a lot. He’s basically like if Anakin had been forced to become Vader instead of choosing to. And once Bucky broke his programming, he’s been on a mission to right his wrongs. That’s a much more captivating motivation for a character like Captain America than just being a good dude who is like caps 2nd or 3rd best friend. Maybe even 4th. Bucky is Steve Rogers best friend. And he also has been cap in the comics like Sam. So no it’s not because he’s black, or anything. It’s literally because the actor isn’t doing the job well and the character isn’t the best choice in the mcu version of these characters. Sebastian Stan is still great as Winter Soldier. Idk wtf happened to Anthony Mackie. 🤷🏾♂️
My birthday is on Valentine's Day, and Captain America (Steve Rogers) has always been my favorite Marvel character. So this feels like an Anti-Birthday gift from Marvel. Sam Wilson was cool as the Falcon, but giving him Steve's hand-me-downs strips him of what made him cool in the first place.
I disagree. Falcon: A Brave New World would have been just as bad as Cap 4. Because Sam Wilson's not that guy. He's not T'Challa or Luke Cage. He's not Storm or Blade. He's Captain America's sidekick. He was inexplicably elevated by a movie appearance and now people feel compelled to argue on his behalf. I remember ALL of Sam's comic history. It's not pretty.
@Khaliltooshort Him taking on captain America as his title is a progression of his character arc. It makes sense! The controversy that surrounds a black captain america is one of the main points of this film.
Falcon has been one of the most underrated characters in the MCU thanks to his best buddy relationship with Steve and Bucky. I will withhold judgment until the film but the comics already tell you what storylines are accepted or not
Before Disney/ Marvel made all these stupid decisions with Steve Rogers, Bucky and Falcon.. I would’ve loved to have seen a movie with just the 3 of them traveling around and beating up bad guys.. but they ruined all of their characters. This movie is definitely going to be awful.
@@justinkador2496 Black people don't have time to like anything. I mean, the best loved songs are about people hating on each other. Go down the list.
Because he's not Steve. He's not the REAL Capn America. He's Falcon throwing away his original moniker to pretend to be Capn America instead of being himself.
Fuckkk i want this to be good but ever since I saw the news about the director being fired in july months before release, I just knew that was a big red flag
I keep saying to elevate Falcon too. The brand Captain America will be attached to Steve in the future. There is no foundation to build on unless he's Falcon. The feedback falls on deaf ears.
@ I'll answer the question like you mean it. The second-hand nature of it all is offensive. Even if you're not offended, the position won't last. The brand Captain America will forever be primarily associated with the character Steve Rogers. Sam won't stay as Cap. We want to invest in characters who have a foundation that can be built on. Reboot after reboot. Video games and animation. Captain America will be Steve. We are in support of Sam Wilson getting a movie while calling himself Falcon. Kaida mentioned his desire to elevate Falcon. Falcon is representation that lasts.
@@justinkador2496 Because he's throwing away his own identity as Falcon for Steve's handmedowns. Because he's mooching of a white man's legacy rather than elevating himself as a unique character. And like chill says, because this isn't going to stick anyways, as the infinite amount of reboots and reimaginings are just going to have Steve be Cap and relegate Sam to being Falcon again if he even gets used. Don't even try to use the "it happened in the comics" argument either when, apparently, those comics were a flop, and MCU has done things that aren't comic accurate that people still love (Thanos).
They basically just killed The Falcon. That hero is now gone. Somehow Captain America is still here when he already had an ending. This should’ve been The Falcon.
I want you to write a plot of a solo falcon movie. Right now. And it can't be the plot of brave new world, because sam being the captain is an intrinsic part the the plot of that movie. Go.
to clarify, Seth Rollins didn't say "don't watch this movie because they cut me out of it" because of any heat or anything towards the film, he meant from a fan expectation pov like "hey I'm not in it, so don't watch it expecting to see me because i don't wanna ruin your experience when I'm not there"
As a hawhittte kid just getting into comics…and speaking of proper representation…Night Thrasher was one of the first characters I loved as a kid. Cool costume and I liked the stories. not only is he an original black character, but he is also the ORIGINAL leader of The New Warriors. That is a ton of characters to bring to the screen if they would just give it the labor of love it needs.
They don’t even understand that Falcon was the best part of the Winter Soldier movie but apparently now I can’t empathize or relate to him because he’s black? Ironically the people writing this stuff are the most racist people compared to everyday normal people who they want to talk down to.
Not to mention even the villains aren't his own. They have to shove in The Leader & motivationless Red Hulk as the main threats with The Serpent Society as the underplayed hand me down Steve Rogers Captain America villains without even any serpent costumes.
Hasn't every time they've made someone else captain america in the comics not done financially well? Everytime they quickly switch back to steve because no one is buying it
@@justinkador2496 He's simply retired and elderly; he didn't "die in 2021." In Endgame, there are two Steve Rogers-one who still has his Super Soldier Serum and the other who doesn't anymore-because of that whole time-traveling nonsense. *Loki from Endgame, who got his own TV series.
I have a lot of thoughts on this lol However, I don't think I want to argue, mostly cause my arguments are poor(i spent way too long typing out responses that were either contradictory or just plain stupid). Instead, I will just say that I disagree on some points you make. I do think Falcon and the Winter Soldier was a mess, but I personally still enjoyed it. I think Sam as Cap can be done quite well, but, until the movie comes out, we only have the comics to go off of. In the comics, the ideas present were interesting, but I don't think that's the path Sam will go down in this movie. I do want to ask, though; We do need a Captain America. How would you have added a new Captain America to the MCU with Steve's arc concluding? A new character? Bucky? Rework Sam's story? I'd love to know! I'm excited for Brave New World, both as a Cap fan and as a Hulk fan. I'm willing to judge the film on its own terms, but I'm well aware that it could fail. Until it comes out, though, I'm gonna hold my tongue. Take care!
This has nothing to do with Cap America, but I would really like to see the story of Lucas Bishop portrayed in cinema, or at least in Marvel Rivals or something. I always found that character super interesting and I think that they could actually have a super interesting black hero with a deep origin story that is already written: Lucas Bishop (also the first Black Male Xmen) is a mutant born in concentration on a dystopic future in the aftermath of the Summers Rebellion ( Hope Summers fulfilled her destiny as the mutant messiah by reversing the effects of M-Day and saving mutantkind from extinction. However, in an event that would come to be known as the Six-Minute War, Hope killed over a million humans. As a result, the U.S. government re-activated the Sentinel program and gradually managed to defeat all mutant resistance groups and began categorically interning all mutants in concentration camps.) who has travelled back in time and has joined the legendary mutants he had only known through bedtime stories, the X-Men. So when Hope Summers was born, Lucas Bishop betrayed the X-Men and tried to kill Hope as a baby. It is a very interesting character and history IMO.

I am a what many would call a racist (it's just a slav thing), but I agree with you here on every word, brother. Falcon deserves better - he is (or at least he was) a great character in the MCU, with his own identity, he was cool and heroic and there was no accent on his race or skin color - he wasn't 'Black Falcon' or something, he was the guy who was willing to risk everything to do the right thing. They'd rather race swap a character, than give an original and *good* character his own movie or show. Give us the Falcon solo movie, bring back a Luke Cage show (on par with the awesome first season, no the trash pile second one), give us the fcking R-rated Blade movie, we've been waiting for God knows how long! These are all awesome and interesting characters, and all the comic fans, despite their race, political beliefs or ideology, would gladly like to see them on the big or small screen, just done right, without any forced political agenda or pandering. Sorry for my English - it's not my native language and I've got a bit rusty with it.

This makes zero sense. Where is the difference? Falcon has never led his own project before this. He is literally the definition of a sidekick.
they actually got rid of the female Israeli characters bio from the comics, she's now simply a former black widow who happens to be Israeli. Maybe not even a mention of that lol.
This film will fly like Captain America's shield getting punched into the floor.
I think the Chris Evans Captain America trilogy ended perfectly, why make a fourth
Because it is now Sam's story.

Bucky has just been pardoned of several war crimes. You really think the USA wants him to represent them?
My birthday is on Valentine's Day, and Captain America (Steve Rogers) has always been my favorite Marvel character. So this feels like an Anti-Birthday gift from Marvel.
Sam Wilson was cool as the Falcon, but giving him Steve's hand-me-downs strips him of what made him cool in the first place.
"Hand me downs"😂😂😂 I will never understand why characters like wally west or even Lin lie don't get this kind of hate.
It's not pretty.
and if Marvel wanted that to be different they'd make him a main player instead of a mantle swap
@Khaliltooshort Him taking on captain America as his title is a progression of his character arc. It makes sense! The controversy that surrounds a black captain america is one of the main points of this film.

the exaggerated swagger of a captain
Falcon has been one of the most underrated characters in the MCU thanks to his best buddy relationship with Steve and Bucky. I will withhold judgment until the film but the comics already tell you what storylines are accepted or not
Before Disney/ Marvel made all these stupid decisions with Steve Rogers, Bucky and Falcon.. I would’ve loved to have seen a movie with just the 3 of them traveling around and beating up bad guys.. but they ruined all of their characters. This movie is definitely going to be awful.

Because he's not Steve. He's not the REAL Capn America. He's Falcon throwing away his original moniker to pretend to be Capn America instead of being himself.
Not sure what were they thinking making the entire failed marvel now comics into the movies ... it failed in the comics for a good reason
Fuckkk i want this to be good but ever since I saw the news about the director being fired in july months before release, I just knew that was a big red flag
I keep saying to elevate Falcon too. The brand Captain America will be attached to Steve in the future. There is no foundation to build on unless he's Falcon. The feedback falls on deaf ears.
he never got the Dick Grayson treatment of going from a side kick to his own hero but we can't have an original hero stay that way
Sam wilson is the mcu captain America now. Why is that so bad???
@ I'll answer the question like you mean it. The second-hand nature of it all is offensive. Even if you're not offended, the position won't last. The brand Captain America will forever be primarily associated with the character Steve Rogers. Sam won't stay as Cap. We want to invest in characters who have a foundation that can be built on. Reboot after reboot. Video games and animation. Captain America will be Steve. We are in support of Sam Wilson getting a movie while calling himself Falcon. Kaida mentioned his desire to elevate Falcon. Falcon is representation that lasts.
@@justinkador2496
Because he's throwing away his own identity as Falcon for Steve's handmedowns.
Go.

This.

"Captain Africa-America" was brilliant. 😂😂
As a hawhittte kid just getting into comics…and speaking of proper representation…Night Thrasher was one of the first characters I loved as a kid. Cool costume and I liked the stories. not only is he an original black character, but he is also the ORIGINAL leader of The New Warriors. That is a ton of characters to bring to the screen if they would just give it the labor of love it needs.
maybe the next re-shoot will include his black widow love story
Ain't black widow dead?
@justinkador2496 i mean if gamora can come back in endgame so can black widow
They don’t even understand that Falcon was the best part of the Winter Soldier movie but apparently now I can’t empathize or relate to him because he’s black? Ironically the people writing this stuff are the most racist people compared to everyday normal people who they want to talk down to.
If people can relate to characters that don't look like them, than why are so many white people complaining that he doesn't look like them anymore?😂
They should have put him in the thunderbolts with bucky that would.have been cool
Naw. He really doesn't belong with those characters. Thunderbolts is basically meant to be marvel's suicide squad.
Lol 😁😁😁 Captain EBT
Not to mention even the villains aren't his own. They have to shove in The Leader & motivationless Red Hulk as the main threats with The Serpent Society as the underplayed hand me down Steve Rogers Captain America villains without even any serpent costumes.
Hasn't every time they've made someone else captain america in the comics not done financially well? Everytime they quickly switch back to steve because no one is buying it
Steve Rogers is Captain America
Sam Wilson is The Falcon
Bucky is White Wolf (in MCU)
and thats what it is
Steve Rogers has been dead since 2021. Sam wilson has been captain America since 2021. Please get over yourself.
Would people have been more accepting of him if the"you gotta do better, senator" scene didn't exist in Falcon and winter Soldier?
I have a lot of thoughts on this lol
However, I don't think I want to argue, mostly cause my arguments are poor(i spent way too long typing out responses that were either contradictory or just plain stupid).

Well, we'll see
This has nothing to do with Cap America, but I would really like to see the story of Lucas Bishop portrayed in cinema, or at least in Marvel Rivals or something.

I like Falcon as Captain America, unfortunately, but I know this film will fail because we have Hulk villains in here, cut scenes, and judging by the trailer cheesy writing.
Mantle swapping needs to stop.
Why would it stop?

Is almost as they didn't saw black/asian people as something worth of a own history which I personally find absolutely terrible mindset. Why change the race of a character to get validated? why dont you just create a new character (for example black) and you give them a good history? with a deep personality? something that you can relate not by race but by feelings, ideals, points of view. Why dont you take the same work you did with white characters to create a black one? why just copy paste the name in a different face? I just feel like is some type of "positive discrimination" that in the end is discrimination and nothing else.
