Thanks for the demo. But perhaps it would be better not to use a chair with wheels for the one who is getting back up to sit on because if the helper doesn't hold it steady, the chair can roll backwards and another fall can potentially happen?
Also, what can the fallen do if injured by the fall and can't get up (especially if by himself/herself) and can't reach a phone to call for help in Scenario 1? Please advise. Thanks.
Hi there Angela. Indeed what you say is true regarding the chair with wheels and we've avoided using so however I believe at a glimpse it do resemble a wheeled chair. But thank you so much for pointing that out, I am sure it'll be of great information to many.
Regarding your 2nd question, it is an unfortunate situation to be in for sure and these days often times the older folks are left alone without a carer due to work and time constraints. In such scenario, one of the best ways is to shout and call out for help. Once, my friend's grandmother found herself in such a scenario and there wasn't anyone to assist her so she called out over and over again till the neighbors heard her cry for help and called my friend. I'd suggest to get to know the neighbors of the individual and if possible, trade phone numbers.

Advisable for the elderly to have their hdpones in their pockets at all times..
@@erichtf6585 It is indeed, especially as of now that technology has advanced so much that it is simply irresponsible to neglect what it has to offer. While vision may be a challenge to many among the elderly, voice activated calls are already out and about. By the way, we would like to know how did you come across this video/channel? @@alprophysio Should produce an edited edition with the wheeled chair, error etc removed/replaced. As it is, I am hesitant to share it.
@@laurencelim5078 Hello, thank you for the feedback however we would like to clarify once again that we did not use wheeled chair in this demonstration. Thank you.
Thanks
Welcome!

I once fell and couldn't get up. Lying on floor for 17 hours. Until someone one came. What an ordeal
That is really unfortunate but we're glad you're back up and about and here to enjoy our video.

Thx, gd video. Perhaps can use a chair without rollers. Not advisable even wen u hv somebody holding it.
Thank you very much. Chair with wheels is indeed unadvisable and we've avoided using so however I believe at a glimpse it do resemble a wheeled chair. But thank you so much for pointing that out.
Why “Don’t do this” comes with a tick ? Do or not to do ?
Thanks! Sure helped me learn a thing or two
Glad to hear it!
Thanks v.informative.
I am 75 years and my knees pain.
I fell down and I couldn't get up.
It was very painful.
Can you show have to get up from floor.
Thank you very much.
Tum sahi kehti ho Yasmin

What if she or he is paralyzed on one side can use forty percent of leg and 60 percent of hand on right side? Age is over 80?
For such individuals, prevention and preparation of fall is still top priority. Preparation is terms of caregiver, personal alarm (giving them the ability to signal to others that something has occurred). If they do fall, it is best that a caregiver and or a medical provider be there to get them up. At such age with such condition, they are at higher risk of injury therefore, if possible, seek for medical help via St John Ambulance, Red Cross/Crescent Association. Thank you.
Circle of life.. same as baby does.. crawl then stand..🙂👍
That is a very interesting statement. It is true.

very useful information.
The lady is wearing mask coz she is not the actual patient, she is giving demonstration n as other people r around mask is for covid protection.
This does NOT work if arms not strong! Why not use elbow to sit up n move from there?
But what if you have fractured something?
Hi. If that does occur, it would be advisable to seek for professional help e.g. ambulance via the hospitals/clinics/St John/Red Crescent/Red Cross.

What to do if the patient is bed ridden?
In such a scenario, things would differ a lot as the patient is then fully dependent on those around. The best is to have 4 individuals about but also depending on the size of the patient, the more the better. If we're looking at 4, 1 holds around the chest while supporting the head, another by the knees and the other two by the sides supporting the hip and back. If we're having 2, similar but without those by the sides. At the same time, it depends how they would like to lift the patient. It could go from lying on the floor, picked up (still in lying position), and straight onto the bed lying. It could also go from lying on the floor, picked up (into a "standing" position), propped onto the bed "seated" then lowered into lying. Hope this answers your question. Thank you! Because I usually lifted him by myself since I'm the one who's taking care of my Atok.. I hold under his neck and knee
@@n4ml0ck At times, by the neck may be uncomfortable for the individual. Perhaps you could try wrapping around the chest and under the armpits. But if you'd need more clarity or you have any questions, by all means just contact us at 019-4201923 on Whatsapp.

Points for effort. 😉 "Don't do this!" The tick isn't congruent with visual message

But I have my knee replacement so I can't take support on my knees then what to do
Doesn’t’ work if you have bad knees.
When one is still able, make an effort to keep fit regularly. Go for long walks and do simple calisthenic. Problem with most ppl is they are lazy to do so and also complain too much.
Prevention is better than cure.
That is very true. Often times the elderly underestimate their own capabilities, their ability to continue living an active lifestyle and it is unfortunate. Little by little they reduce their effort and one day, sitting becomes burdening. Glad to know you see things this way too. It's not to stay strong. @@alprophysio Hi, someone posted it in our group WhatsApp.
I just thought to make some statement bcos I heard too many complaints of old age etc. I live a different perspective.
Example, one middle-aged friend told me he sold his double storeyed house to move to a single storeyed house bcos he wanted to avoid the stairs. I chided him for that. Also, he walked around less now and would park his car nearest to the shop front.
I see things differently. I feel the older ppl get, the less the work and the more time to do LIFE. If they are afraid then that is the beginning of their "rapid" end. They will wear down quickly in a year or two due to inactivity.
@@alprophysio also, this may be helpful.
Life is in the breath. Whatever physical activity must always be in rhythm with the breath. Heart failure occurs when activity is constantly forced against the natural rhythm. If you are familiar with qigong, you will understand the concept.
Deep relaxing breaths and good posture are keys to good health. Age is just a number. Never use age to ruin your life. Good luck.
@@charlescheechien8529 Thank you Mr Charles for the feedback. Loving it! I do agree with what you've stated especially in regards to reduce in mental and physical activities would only lead to the deterioration of an individual.
@@alprophysio Welcome. Good health is natural until we start neglecting our life. We need to only know ourselves and live fearlessly.
For a senior citizen with knee problem, crawling on knees will be a painful experience. Not a good idea. Hope can find an alternative, besides crawling, for a senior citizen who stays alone. Tq
Ya
Wth knee issues
Its impossible
Pl.show an alternative
Hello. Indeed, being on the knees may be an issue but that issue may be the only thing between staying on the floor and getting up. It may seem harsh however the case where they're on the floor, if possible, we still have to prioritize getting up. An alternative to crawling would be scooting on the buttocks and commando crawl (belly crawl). Hope this helps.
I did the commando crawl once, tore up all the ligaments going to my rotator cuff. The butt scoot works unless you have a long way to go, or on carpet
Instructions unclear: Doesnt work if you fall off a building 😔
The chair WITH WHEELS is a NO. NO.
Don't think it was a wheeled chair tho. Rubber tipped
That is for sure. Don't worry. No wheeled chair is used in the production of this video.

I CAN'T USE MY ANKLES AND TOES THAT WAY. AND LIMITED STRENGTH ON LEFT SIDE. WHEN I FALL. WE HAVE TO GET ME UP THE WAY THE PARAMEDICS DO. AND IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!!
Hi, there are few ways to help others to get up from floor. This is one of the technique but if you can't get up like this then need to try other way. This suitable for who only need minimal assistant.
