    Good for you! Me too. By simply typing in a search labeled free on marketplace, roadside riches and the local business park....I've gotten so much stuff! If you drive around your local business park and ask about pallets, you can get some great wood once it's milled. Make sure you don't take the blue or yellow pallets...they normally have to send those back. Always keep "break down " tools in your truck. Invest in a metal pallet breaker bar. Nipper pliers (they have a rounded head that looks like a thumb and finger coming together to make an O.) have a built in fulcrum which makes removing nails easier. Flat pry bars and claw hammer. Don't bother with pallets made from plywood...those are surprisingly just junk. The best ones are made from hardwood...usually used for heavy machinery.
    As you sell stuff, invest in the next tool. At some point I'm getting an air compressor with a denailer attachment.
    Restore habitat for humanity normally has a great section of used tools dirt cheap.

    That's the way to do it. Best of luck & have fun!
    The table saw is a great find for free. I notice it doesn't have a riving knife (splitter). If I can give you one piece of advice it would be to see if you can find one to fit or find a video showing how to make a custom one (just need a piece of steel the same thickness as the blade & some ingenuity). I know a lot of Americans do without this safety feature but it really is a lifesaver (finger & hand saver more accurately) as kickback can do all sorts of damage (check out some videos on that too). That is one piece of machinery that needs to be treated with respect.
    Great to see you've already started generating some money off it. Woodworking is a great hobby which can be self-sustaining & help build up your tool collection. Exciting times :)

    I noticed your Lugnuts cap, are you in the Lansing area? Keep the faith. A lot of us started on a shoestring. Make projects, sell & buy tools. Repeat & do it again. Definitely buy a heater asap….it will help you to want to make projects. Cold fingers can be dangerous. Try to keep your wood off the concrete floor, too. Best to you….it’s great to see young people carrying on the woodworking tradition.

      I AM in the Lansing area! That’s super cool you recognized that! But THANKYOU! 🙌🏽 I’ll be getting my wood off of the concrete asap!

    look at where to stack your wood I suggest vertically longest against the wall and step down to shortest, maybe some ceiling mounted for really long or better cuts of wood. I moved or tidied my pile of wood every day until I sorted out my system. That's a lot of work time I could have used making money.
    You got the right attitude go for it. 💪💪

    Thank you for sharing. You have a new subscriber. Great estate sale find. Another great place to find good tools cheap is Pawn shops. I got my trim router for $15 at a small pawn shop. The national chain pawn shops will charge more. Thrift stores are hit or miss. DO NOT make a ramp on your table saw to match your workbench. Raise your table saw to match the workbench. Adding a ramp will cause potential problems with Kick Back. There should be a way to raise the base that supports your table saw. The base on my table saw has holes at one inch apart. I can raise the base up or down one inch increments. Looking at that base to your saw it looks like you have that option too. If raising the table saw will make it too high to use, lower the workbench. God bless and keep up the good work.

      Thankyou so much for all of that advice I’ll definitely be keeping all of that in mind when I make the adjustments! If the Talbots saw doesn’t go up high enough what about sliding some wood under the legs to raise it?

    Keep at it. Most today find it hard to do what it takes to scrouge, scrimp and do what it takes to be a maker. Good used stuff will suffice and you slowly upgrade to better equipment. It looks like you've gotten a good start on things. Just don't give up. Better and warmer days are ahead..

    When you drill holes to mount the brackets for your tools, consider drilling into the mortar because if you ever move out, it is much cheaper & easier to replace mortar than blocks.
    Preferably drill into the horizontal mortar for additional holding of the plugs you put into the holes for your screws.

    Cool man. Keep on keeping on. One thing, you don't want your cut wood from your table saw to go up hill. You could get a lot of kickbacks. You want the wood to go level or at least fall down a little, but never go up.

    • @TheBlessedCarpenterCo
      @TheBlessedCarpenterCo  8 днів тому +1

      Ok THANKYOU for that information because I definitely didn’t know that! I’ll make sure i design the shop where it pushes level or slides down Forsure cause I’m not for chunks of wood flying towards my face
