    Outstanding work on a fantastic musical instrument. IMHO, a lot of today's "synths" are rhymic sound toys and are not designed to be played musically. Wonderful work!

      Thanks! The visuals were created using an iOS app called WZBL (Wizibel). It's a simple audio visualizer that supports importing audio tracks and rendering out clips - ran several instances of it, made the audio-sync'ed clips and then blended them over the live video in the final edit.

    14:33 - super curious about this patch. Is individual split mapped to the same tempo but different signatures or each section has it's own tempo? Very cool indeed!

    • @AndreaPessino
      @AndreaPessino  4 роки тому +3

      Not a split - I don’t remember off the top of my head and I am away from the Brute at the moment, but it is an LFO rate modulated by pitch; if you have a MatrixBrute you can download all the patches in the video (link is in one of the comment replies here), find that one and look at the settings in the MOD page. 👍😊

      @@Vadlife sync your LFOs to the tempo of the sequencer/arpeggiator clock, and then patch your LFO speeds to be tracked by the keyboard. Thus, the higher you play, the faster the modulation, but because it's synced to the internal clock, the speed will change evenly across the time divisions. 😉

    Was it hard to create a chord arpeggiation?

    • @AndreaPessino
      @AndreaPessino  6 років тому +4

      Arpeggios are very easy to setup - pretty much just enable the arpeggiator, set its options and play some chords. :) If you mean the paraphonic mode chords, those are definitely one of the more involved things to grasp - then again, compared to most mono synths with paraphonic features, the MB is very straightforward . The fact that there are no menus and all controls are per-function make it really fun and rewarding to design sounds on.

    • @Vadlife
      @Vadlife 6 років тому +1

      Andrea Pessino yeah paraphonic option is fascinating to me, especially when
      You do chords. Would be cool to see a video of that being put together.

    how did you make the pulsing chords effect? around 9:30?

    • @AndreaPessino
      @AndreaPessino  5 років тому +1

      The Brute is in paraphonic mode so that each of the 3 oscillators is assigned to its own note in a chord. The modulation is just LFOs routed to various filter parameters, plus a bit of FM fading in and out for some extra crunchy, dissonant flare. :)

It would be completely awesome if you could share tricks to get that and some examples with us :D Thanks for this amazing video!!!

    • @AndreaPessino
      @AndreaPessino  5 років тому +1

      Thanks! Can't say that I made a deliberate effort to get "fat Moog style basses" on the MB - I am guessing it would not be a natural/easy thing to accomplish. but it would be a fun challenge to give it a try and I think something of note could be achieved regardless of the outcome. One of these days I will give it a shot. :)

      Have you downloaded the project file from here? drive.google.com/open?id=1fTF-Rok6XnQj7m2S4i2_XqRwKp8aOOav
      If you did and uploaded the patches to your Brute, and used the same patch locations, then O08 should be named "para_triads," which is the sound played at around 9:30, just with a sustain pedal held and then playing 3 note chords. The patch is actually pretty simple, Brute in paraphonic mode, all VCOs going to both filters, several modulations to filter parameters, plus LFO2 slowly fading in and out some FM from VCO3 into the VCF.

    I also have the BigSky ... makes a *huge* difference, doesn't it ? The effects on the MatrixBrute are a shame.. Arturia made a mistake including them. Either they should have gone with a design with no effects, or one with good effects. But not something in between..

    • @AndreaPessino
      @AndreaPessino  6 років тому

      Laurence Vanhelsuwe yeah, the Big Sky is incredible - it makes everything better, like butter. :) As for the Brute effects, they are indeed quite minimal and not very useful - except for the chorus, which is very nice.

    • @Trottelheimer
      @Trottelheimer 6 років тому +1

      Another BigSky owner here :) I still like the MatrixBrute FX though. IMO, just don't view them as general/standard effects, but rather a way of having a programmable and modulatable BBD element as apart of the voice for when that takes your fancy. Anyway, great patches, Andrea!

    Doesn't really do anything they can't do either.

    • @informatimago
      @informatimago 4 роки тому

      Obviously. But will your older software synths still run on your computer in 30 years? I'm using synthesizers that are 30 years old, they still work. But half of the software I used last year doesn't, even on the very same hardware, because of the system software upgrade pushed by the vendor (for "security" reasons, fuck)!
