    BLUEWATER SAILING FIJI TO NZ - Addiction and BIG seas
    Just when we thought it was safe to go back out on deck, a couple of rogue waves send us sideways. The aftermath is a sore hand, scolded legs and tattered nerves. Old habits begin to resurface.
    Bob the auto-pilot also gets in to the swing of it all and goes nuts.
    A big thank you to Granny for stepping up to narrate

      Rachel hates her narration (which I think is, at worst, quirky) and we both anxted about the addictions skit.

      @VicuSan Рік тому

      Its a different narration, but not bad at all! And very well filmed, given the rough conditions and the "mental pain" of being restrain inside the cabin for so long. I id felt the boredoom, tenssions (and longiness for an icecream such as Declan mentions while having that superb dinner).
      As always, intersting, funny and inspiring with that stoicism you keep showing.
      Once again, big yay for the Hamill Team! (and I'm not pretending to become VIP to take a longer shower than just sparkling water!).

      We wouldn't go back for him Peter. We'd just keep going and make him swim home 🙂. He does wear his life jacket in very stormy weather when it's howling outside. While these seas were large and it wouldn't have hurt to don the life jacket, Rob took a calculated risk and lived to tell the tale.

      We have since been hit by lightening and replaced the whole system.
      I understand your anxiety with us playing in the water near the props we want to keep our limbs intact too. It's a risk v benefit play off and benefit is winning. There is more risk of hitting our heads on the bridge so we don't drag in swell.

      @@markebert7336 Just had a quick re look at the episode (no sound though so might have to take another look tomorrow) but it reminded me that yes the wind indicator was reading about 180 degrees wrong. Have a look about 4 minutes in we were on a broad reach, if not running downwind and the indicator is at or near zero degrees as if wind on the nose. I THINK we could still use the wind setting on the auto helm but I'm not 100% sure we didn't just leave it on the normal auto setting and hope we didn't get a wind shift. Hi Joanna, every so often we do say post the date video was shot at the beginning of the video, though on a whole we don't. This vlog was filmed in late November 2018. Would that make a difference for you, to know when the video was shot?

      @@TheCruisingKiwis thanks for that. It would be helpful to know when each video was shot because, after starting following you and some other cruising families on YT, a seed has been planted in my head about possibly going sailing too. @@joannadevereux7714 the Pacific is a great place to start as on the whole it is very easy sailing, when you pick a good weather window. It can all seem a bit daunting to begin with but once you start asking questions you find there are very definate seasons for sailing. May to November are the best times to be cruising the South Pacific. From November to end of April it is best to head to 30° south of the equator or 10° north to Get out of the cyclone zone.
