I love that BMW has an inexpensive sports coupe for the driving enthusiasts. I picked up my M2 a week ago and am beyond amazed how well these things handle! Even that 4-cylinder was no slotch on the roads.
I luv mine. Didn’t need the M which unrest drove. The power, turbo when it kicks in high omg it’s killer. The gas mileage is great and she drives like a BMW. Could not be happier with my car. So much fun. Three driving modes with three different set up, lane control which is spooky nice and what you expect from a sport car. Hit me up and let me know what questions you have …plus the heads up display sooo nice
The car has comfort, sport, sport plus amd sport individual. Can you adjust all those driving modes to what you want or can you adjust just the spor individual??
I actually think the non M models look better than the M sports too. That was never the case in years past, but they really got too gaudy with the M design. I say if you still want the sporty setup, just get the base model and get some some coilovers for $1500 and call it a day. The suspension is really the biggest performance difference anyway. Plus it will be a lot cheaper than the full upgrade.
Always find it a bit ridiculous when someone, usually in North America, says that a car isn't that quick and won't any races. When the vast majority of cars, in Europe at least, do 0-60mph in over 10 seconds, this is pretty quick in comparison. It really just depends, and sure there's loads of cars that are way faster, but the overwhelming vast majority of cars out there are slower than this.
I was just in a violent accident and my BMW 230i 2023 saved me. It’s a shame my dealer is trying to stick it to me for a new one. Trying to get into a CT5 350T twin turbo. Those Cadillac are insane..check them out their power band is incredible
The M-Sport is no longer available in the US for a 230i. You have to get an M240i now if you want that. The gloss black was also part of the M-Sport I think. No longer available.
Nothing of value was lost. The M-Sport makes the car worse for public roads and the gloss black scratches easily and looks bad after a few years so it is undesireable if you plan to own the car for years.
Coming from a Miata to a 2022 M240i, I would say the +2022 BMW 2 Series has gone full Daily / GT like many other premium brands. M240i is an incredible machine, I love driving it, and while I can go around a corner faster than my Miata ever could, I cannot say the experience of driving the M240i is that of a traditional "sports car". Translating to this video: Sure, the 230i will out run and out handle any normal Miata, but the added weight, and longer wheel base of the +2022 version just shifts the 2 series that much more into the Daily / GT realm as compared to previous 2 series. However, the 230i is the closest thing that BMW has to offer to a true "sports car", and you can mod a 230i to perform similarly to the M240i while maintaining better weight, and weight distribution. But if I wanted more of a sports car feel, I'd go with the 2021 or older 2 series. Otherwise only cars like the Miata, GR86, base Supra, and 718 can give you that sports car experience.
It is the base steering wheel. The one with the additional aluminum additions is the msport wheel, only m cars and cars with the msport package get it.
I didn't realize there was that one year that had the old infotainment, so I looked it up and I have to say that fits the car much better. I hate that manufacturers are just doing these giant tacked on screens. They're too big and look so out of place. That first year design was it.
The Msport package is making the car worse unless you want to track the car or live in an area with no speed limits. I don't know about this market but in Europe the base wheels are 17in and look almost the same as these 18in in the video, but have cheaper tires that are less likely to get damaged and offer more comfort due to more rubber... They are also safer in the wet and in the dry you can slide easier at lower speeds to have some controllable fun during daily driving. Less fuel consumption and more acceleration too. Sadly the msport forces 18in wheels minimum here, and it also forces the sport suspension which lowers the ground clearence and makes the ride comfort even worse, for marginal benefits at very fast and steep cornering (which is not useful in public roads). The rest of the msport additions are just cosmetic or worthless (progressive steering is not useful at legal speeds, same with the msport brakes, if you really need those in a 230i, you should have your licence revoked). Personally i think the base car looks better and more elegant, especially in purple, the msport looks like an edgy teenager modded it. The only really useful msport addition on public roads, the limited slip differential, you can get as an isolated option for the 230i in most markets and is a must. So my advice for most people is ignore all the msport stuff except the LSD, if you can get it with the base 17 inch wheels, get them as they look really good, are cheaper, more comfortable and more eco friendly. Use the money on synthetic or real leather seats, atmosphering lighting, HK sound system, better lights, etc, things that are far more useful for the money. Thus you will get a really premium and elegant drivers cars at a good price.
thanks for your feedback. I find most people in north america buy this package for the looks. I was considering a 230i and if i did i wouldn't buy it without the M sport package. 17" wheels are considered too small in north america.
You just described the car you want, it's not like others don't know what the benefits or otherwise are of the different specs. Some people prefer the more dynamic Msport option and saying anyone who chooses that should have their license revoked is ridiculous. It's perfectly possible to drive like a fool in any car, so should we all have our licenses revoked because we all have the means to drive recklessly?
Interesting take... But you honestly sound like an old boring guy. If a poll were to be taken I'm pretty damn sure a large majority would take the 230 WITH M sport package. Besides, this is an entry level car so people don't exactly buy it for extra comfort and elegance. Like the comment above me said, you're just describing your ideal car. Stop that.

i love the interior
Thanks for watching!
such a good looking car!!
Save money with the base at $40k! Absolutely perfect with thrilling performance without the M Sport Options.

6:25 peep the 340i accelerating 😊
Very informative video
Beautiful car
I like it! Not bad at all for no M sport. I would get it in red
Melbourne red would look very good on the 230i.
@@POV_Driving yeah red or thunder night metallic look amazing. I'm between this and the 24 G70 🫠 for my next car.
get this!
@@POV_Driving- Mine is Alpine White with the Cognac (tan) interior. Beautiful car at an affordable price from BMW! Amazing value.

Still available in Canada
@@POV_Driving Canada also only gets X drive and doesn’t get RWD.
this was so, so heartbreaking to find out -- completely changed my consideration of the car, given the 240 starts to get a bit more pricey.
It's available in the US now. There were a few months that it wasn't. M sport, shadowline, and dynamic handling packages are all back

Hope to see M340i touring the best car

How do you put the transmission in sport mode without a shift lever
toggle down again

Toggle down on the shift knob
